I came to Hakata on a summer trip to Kyushu in 2020. It has been 4 and a half years since I last visited Hakata. During my visit in early August, with Fukuoka seeing over 100 new cases of COVID-19 daily, I decided to avoid crowded areas like Nakasu and Tenjin and instead drink near Hakata Station for safety. I made a reservation at the popular Izakaya Hikari near Yodobashi Camera. It was my first visit on a Saturday evening at 7 pm. The restaurant has counter seats on the right and table seats on the left, with a casual Izakaya atmosphere. I sat at the counter, and surprisingly, it was not too crowded, perhaps due to the Bon holidays. I started with a bottle of beer, specifically Super Dry, and ordered a sashimi platter. The appetizer was a dish of rapeseed flowers and bamboo shoots with sesame dressing. The sashimi platter included nine varieties such as amberjack, spear squid, local octopus, tuna, ark shell, turban shell, flounder, button shrimp, and sand lance, priced at 1,692 yen before tax with a 10% discount on Saturdays. I enjoyed it with the sweet Ni-bishi soy sauce from Hakata. For drinks, I had Hakata no Mori Junmai sake, followed by Shiraito Junmai Ginjo sake, both of which were delightful. I also ordered a light potato salad for a palate cleanser. Moving on to shochu, I tried Suikyo Hita-ji Moromi barley shochu, and then Rokudaime Yuri sweet potato shochu from Koshikijima. I also had a soft tofu dish and traditional dashimaki tamago, followed by a hot spring water mixed with Miyama's Sangetsu sweet potato shochu. The total bill included the appetizer, sashimi platter, potato salad, tofu, dashimaki tamago, beers, sakes, and shochus. The background music was nostalgic Japanese songs, creating a calming atmosphere. The restaurant offers various regional dishes like Kumamoto's horse sashimi, Oita's conger eel tempura, Yamaguchi's fried fugu, Nagasaki's cuttlefish, Kochi's bonito, and Fukuoka's whale meat. While the prices are reasonable, the variety of dishes is not extensive. Despite the current situation making it difficult to interact with staff and customers, I still had an enjoyable two hours. It was a delightful meal.

There may be other similar shops, but at this price range, there probably isn't. ・Goma Saba... delicious as expected. Nori is surprisingly tasty. Even tastier with wasabi. ・Ika Tempura... the thin batter enhances the fluffy texture of the squid, especially delicious when dipped in sauce. ・Spicy Cod Roe... just delicious. Grateful for how easily accessible it is. ・Abura Bozu Stew... delicious. The best fish stew. I even sucked the bones clean. ・Mixed Vegetable Stew... delicious. Especially tasty taro. The common factor in all of these seems to be soy sauce. A guy I talked to at the second bar mentioned this. He said the key is sweet soy sauce. Now that he mentioned it, the slightly sweet seasoning, almost like sukiyaki, was indeed present. While it's not just about soy sauce, I felt like I needed to buy several bottles of soy sauce before leaving. According to the guy at the bar, abura bozu is a substitute for grouper. Hearing that makes me want to try grouper now (^-^)

I couldn't eat at the first place I went to... or rather, I couldn't, so I relied on Hikari-san. I had never visited without a reservation, but lucky me! There was one seat available, so I visited! I was able to eat the uni on the board that I didn't have last time! And then the usual order. Hikari-san is always reliable. This place is definitely a safe bet! I want to visit again at a more leisurely pace!

Today, I had dinner here. This restaurant is located right outside Hakata Station Chikushi Exit, and it's one of my favorites near the station. They serve a variety of Kyushu specialties like sesame mackerel and red chicken sashimi. I enjoyed them with shochu. Thank you for the meal.

I used it at night. It seems to be a popular restaurant. The tables and counters are packed. The previous customers were turned away... but not me! I got in, of course. I sat at the counter! Asahi beer is available. If you want a bottle, it's Asahi. I won't drink draft beer today! The appetizer is boiled vegetables. This is just right. And of course, I ordered sashimi. I definitely ordered sesame mackerel. If you come to Kyushu, you have to eat sesame mackerel or you'll die! The sashimi is consistently delicious. The sand lance is delicious! It seems like it's the season for cuttlefish... I want to eat it! The simmered fish head looks delicious! So, I asked if they could give me half the portion, and they did! It has a fatty texture but the taste isn't too strong despite its appearance. The beer is calling! I'll definitely come here again when I stay in Hakata.

Hikari-san visits regularly. We started with the kue sashimi, which is my favorite here. It's tender and sweet, very delicious. The grilled silver cod with miso is also outstanding with its perfect fatty texture. The counter staff and the beautiful servers create a welcoming atmosphere. I visited with my daughter this time, and she couldn't stop eating because it was so delicious. I definitely want to come back again.

Visited in search of Fukuoka specialties for my second life quest. Tried the Quest Sashimi for 1280 yen. The plate included white meat, stomach, and liver. I ate it with ponzu sauce, similar to Kawahagi, but I prefer Kawahagi over the white meat and liver. Also tried Goma Saba and Kara-age of Karato Fugu. The atmosphere was like a casual izakaya, and the staff were very cheerful and friendly. A great restaurant!

I wanted to eat seafood near Hakata Station at a reasonable price, so I went to a popular casual Japanese restaurant called Hikari. I ordered the Genkai course for 3000 yen. It included a sashimi assortment, conger eel tempura, braised pork, grilled fish, rice balls, and miso soup. The restaurant was packed with customers, which shows how popular it is.

The squid sashimi was very fresh and delicious, and the simmered abura bouzu was surprisingly tasty. It paired well with the Fukuoka sake, and there were many other dishes I wanted to try. I would definitely visit again when I come back to Fukuoka.

It was a long time since my last visit. This place is just right, neither good nor bad. Prices have gone up quite a bit compared to before, but still reasonable compared to others. I was excited to see Sapporo's Red Star, but unfortunately, it wasn't cold or maybe it was old, so it was a bit disappointing. I will visit again.

Whenever I travel from Osaka to Hakata, I always visit this restaurant. It's a place where I can relax even when I'm alone, and it's also enjoyable to go with my family. The owner's daughter is sometimes there and she is very good at talking. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years now. 😊👍

Called to a social gathering for the first time. Located in front of Hakata Station, in a somewhat gritty area. I had my doubts about whether the food would be good... But the reviews on Tabelog were positive. I was pleasantly surprised by the very fresh sashimi that was served! The thick and fresh cuttlefish sashimi was amazing! There was also a wide variety of fried foods, and they served generous portions, which I can understand why it's so popular. I left feeling full and very satisfied~^_^ I would love to visit again if I have the chance! Thank you for the delicious meal~(^。^)

[Date] Visited alone on a weekday at 7:00 PM for a quick drink. [Reservation] Not made. Was able to enter without waiting. The restaurant was almost full, but since I was alone, I could easily find a seat at the counter. It's safer to make a reservation if you're visiting with a group. [Location] Excellent access, about a 2-minute walk from Hakata Station. [Interior] Tables, counter, and tatami seating available, suitable for various purposes. [Order] Cheers with a highball! They have a wide variety of shochu and sake. Ordered the following: - Goma Saba A must-try in Hakata, Goma Saba. The rich sesame sauce goes well with alcohol. The large-cut seaweed is a nice touch. This is delicious. Thank you for the meal! Stayed for 15 minutes. They serve quickly, so it's great for adjusting to catch the Shinkansen. [Service] Prompt and friendly service. [Final thoughts] Highly recommended for a quick solo drink!

It's been about 4 months since my last visit. This time, I started with the kue sashimi, and I noticed that the types of uni change with the seasons. The hotaruika no nuta served as an appetizer was unexpectedly delicious! Of course, I also had the usual fried fugu. Since it had been a while since I drank alcohol, I couldn't handle much. I also tried the akami sashimi and the tempura of scallops! I'm thinking of visiting again around summer.

Located right near Hakata Station, this izakaya has a spacious interior with many customers. We used it for a second party. Their specialty is fresh raw cuttlefish. We were able to enjoy cuttlefish at a reasonable price. We also tried their unique dish of pickled gourd, which was a first for us, but it was a perfect snack.

I went during the busiest time on Friday. The table seats were full, so I was seated in the back tatami area. Despite the loud customer at the next table, the food was excellent. In Kanto region, you can't find sashimi of this quality at this price. And the best part is there are no appetizers. It was my first time at this restaurant, but it was a hit. There was a mix-up with ordering octopus tempura and fugu tempura, and the fugu tempura looked different from the menu photo, so I gave a 2-star rating for service, but overall it's a 4-star experience. I will definitely come back.

Revisited a casual izakaya near Hakata Station. Last time I had the blowfish hot pot, but this time I ordered a la carte. Red sea cucumber vinegar, fresh wood ear mushroom tempura, sashimi platter with 5 kinds of fish, simmered monkfish liver, blowfish porridge, and 1 cup of sake came to about 6500 yen. The monkfish liver is a specialty of the restaurant, so I tried it out of curiosity, and the texture, firmer than cod, was surprisingly addictive. The staff were friendly, and it seems like everything you eat at this kind of restaurant is delicious.

I happened to drink near JR Hakata Station and decided to try entering a restaurant where a customer was leaving. It was Saturday at 8pm, so the customer must have been drinking early. The restaurant is located in a back alley next to Yodobashi Camera. The menu is posted all over the inside of the restaurant, making it fun to choose what to eat. They have a variety of sake as well as shochu, making it a paradise for alcohol lovers. I indulged in delicious dishes like whale bacon, sea urchin, tempura, and salted mackerel.

It's great that you can enjoy Kue Sashi all year round. Drinking sake while looking at the menu on the counter is the best. This time, I tried eating red sea cucumber. It doesn't have as much flavor as the blue one, but I like the texture of the red one. I haven't tried Abura Bozu yet, but I'm very interested. Maybe I'll challenge it next time.

It is located right near Hakata Station. I couldn't eat the pufferfish hot pot because it required a reservation, so I had pufferfish soup instead. It had plenty of pufferfish and was delicious. The pufferfish tempura had a light and fluffy texture. You can enjoy seafood at a reasonable price. Next time, I will definitely make a reservation for the pufferfish hot pot.

I usually dine solo, but this time I went with my family. We tried some fried dishes that I usually can't eat much of when dining alone, and everything was delicious! The atmosphere makes you feel like you will be served delicious food. It doesn't feel pretentious, but rather like a local establishment. The prices are reasonable, and they have a wide variety of shochu and sake. I enjoyed tasting local sake. It seems common in Hakata to be able to eat fresh sea cucumber without reservation. It was very delicious. I was surprised by the price of the boxed sea urchin, and it was slightly melted, but the taste was good. The sesame mackerel had a great seasoning. The mackerel was firm and fresh. The horse sashimi was well-marbled and not too heavy, perfect with shochu. I was also impressed by the attentive service of the staff and the quick serving of the dishes. I will definitely revisit when I go to Hakata. Making a reservation might be a good idea.
