I visited "Yakitori Ki" on this day. The restaurant is located in Takasago, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, about a 7-minute walk from the nearest Nishitetsu Hirao Station. I stayed at an inn near JR Hakata Station's Hakata exit, so I went to pick up my companion for the day, and we finished our first stop nearby before walking to the restaurant, which took about 35 minutes. We had a reservation for the weekend at 19:00. We had the option of choosing between a stop-order system and a course, and we chose the 6000 yen (excluding tax) course. Unfortunately, I forgot to take notes, so based on my memory from the photos, here is what we had:
- Chicken breast "Yodare Tori"
- Sashimi platter (Sasami, liver, thigh tataki)
- Chicken breast salad
- Sasami with wasabi
- Kashiwa
- Pickles
- Oni Oroshi Okaka on top
- Hiza (knee)
- Liver
- Snap peas
- Yagen nankotsu (soft bone)
- Tsunagi
- Thick tofu
- Teba (chicken wings)
- Tsukune
- Aka (heart)
- Zuri (neck)
- Sori (tail)
- Shime Tori Soboro Don
Drinks we had:
- Draft beer
- Barley soda mix
- Lemon sour x2
This was my second visit to the restaurant, and I went with a yakitori enthusiast friend from Edo. Along the way, two friends from Fukuoka, who are regulars at the restaurant, joined us, making it a delightful gathering! The restaurant also offers "Kyoto Takasaka Chicken," which is currently dominating the yakitori industry. When I mentioned my preference for it, they kindly served the "Sori" skewer with Takasaka Chicken. One standout skewer that my friends and I were impressed by was the "Tori no Benkei." The carefully skewered chicken leg meat with excellent cooking and superb sauce made it the best skewer! We all regretted not ordering more of it on our way back home. For those who are confident in their appetite, I highly recommend the stop-order system, but on this day, there were three generations of what seemed like regular customers enjoying the course, which was well-balanced and appealing to a wide range of people, including us. The chef, who has honed his skills at a famous yakitori restaurant in Edo (one of the top 100), has also been selected as one of the top 100 for two consecutive years, which is fantastic! The restaurant uses various types of chicken, including the aforementioned Kyoto Takasaka Chicken and the chef's favorite Kagoshima black Satsuma Chicken, among others. Fukuoka is home to many top-notch yakitori restaurants, but this one is definitely a recommended choice! If you're in Fukuoka and want to enjoy yakitori to the fullest, this is the place to go! Thank you for the wonderful meal. ☆3.62-12854
