I decided to take a mini trip around the Tango Peninsula by car and have lunch at Tango Amino, a place where I used to swim a lot when I was young. We arrived at the restaurant a little after 1 pm and luckily there was no wait despite it being a Sunday. We ordered the "Tango Set Meal," which included the famous barazushi (scattered sushi) and a sashimi platter of local fish. The sashimi included sea bream, white squid, mackerel, and turban shell, with the mackerel standing out as particularly delicious. Normally, I enjoy mackerel from the Seto Inland Sea, but this was my first time trying one from the Japan Sea, and it had a firm texture and concentrated umami flavor. All the other fish were also top-notch local specialties from Tango. Next, we tried the "famous barazushi," which was completely different from the ones I had bought at highway rest areas before. The sweet sushi rice topped with red pickled ginger, shiitake mushrooms, fish cakes, green peas, and shredded omelet was meticulously prepared and each ingredient tasted superb on its own, but together they created a harmonious blend. This experience truly made me appreciate the local specialty of barazushi from Tango. Additionally, the small steamed chicken dish that came with it surprised me with the texture and richness of flavor of the local chicken. Every aspect of the meal, from the quality of the ingredients to the care put into preparation, left me fully satisfied.

This is my first visit since the renovation. There are now two shops, Torimatsu on the first floor and Noodle Cafe Terrace on the second floor. There is plenty of parking space for over 10 cars. I made a reservation online for Torimatsu and confirmed it over the phone. The restaurant was already full before opening, so reservations are a must. It seems to have become a bit more upscale after the renovation. The dishes were carefully prepared and each one was delicious. The sushi rice vinegar was a bit mild, so preferences may vary. The dessert at the end was also luxurious and satisfying from the appearance alone. However, I also liked the feeling of being able to order additional items like abalone and turban shell before the renovation, so I felt a bit lonely in that respect.

I have been doing BM for about 15 years and finally got to visit. Torimatsu, famous for its barazushi. I visit Kyotango every year for crab and beach activities, but I had never visited this restaurant because I never passed by during lunchtime. By chance, I visited on 6/18, just after the renovation of this long-established restaurant. The place was very clean and beautiful. The back of the restaurant overlooks a river and a rural landscape, providing a great view. There is also a cafe attached, keeping up with the times. I ordered the following: Hatchohama (barazushi, small dishes, chawanmushi) for 1650 yen. The barazushi had a slightly sweet vinegar rice which I liked! It contained minced mackerel, kanpyo (dried gourd strips), shiitake mushrooms, green beans, and kamaboko (fish cake), with a great overall balance and delicious taste! The minced mackerel had just the right amount of oil, making it exquisite! I finished it in no time. The small dishes included deep-fried eggplant and green beans with a crab sauce topping. The chawanmushi had minced edamame on top. I saw similar items being sold in department stores, so I definitely want to try them again before my next visit. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I visited the newly renovated "Torimatsu" which reopened on R5.6/18. The exterior has a stylish and modern design. Let's go inside. You can make reservations online, so there is no need to arrive early to sign in. You can enter smoothly and if you have a reservation, your ordered meals will be brought to you quickly, making the process efficient. While you wait, the new menu will be served. "Wow!" It looks delicious. You can enjoy a variety of dishes little by little, which is very satisfying. Everything is delicious. And the highlight is the bara sushi! The delicately arranged bara sushi is on a different level compared to the boxed bara sushi sold in department stores. The freshly made dishes are very tasty. You can enjoy different ingredients depending on the season, so it seems like a place you can enjoy all year round. I will definitely go back.

When I participated in the ultramarathon in Kyotango, I tried bara-zushi for the first time and was impressed. Since then, whenever I go to Kyotango, I always buy it as a souvenir. I have tried bara-zushi from other shops, but the seasoning of the mackerel soboro here is sweeter and more delicious compared to others.

I have had takeout bara sushi several times before, but this was my first time visiting the restaurant. I arrived around noon and was able to be seated right away. However, I noticed that the number of seats seemed to be reduced for infection prevention measures, as there were a few customers waiting after me. I ordered a set of bara sushi and sashimi, and it was amazing! The sashimi was incredibly delicious, and the bara sushi was very filling! It might be a bit much for children and women, but I thoroughly enjoyed the local specialty of Inano.

First meal of the trip to Kyotango♪ Ine Momiji Chicken Set Meal for 1980 yen. Changed the rice to the famous Barazushi for an additional 660 yen. Kyotango Nine-Vegetable Bento for 2200 yen. A mountain of chicken tataki♪ And chicken sukiyaki♪ A dream-like set meal (*´ω`*). And the famous Barazushi. The concept of Barazushi was overturned! Barazushi was supposed to be a seafood chirashi sushi, but the Barazushi here was exceptional (´゚д゚`)! Incredibly delicious (*´艸`*)

The "bara-zushi" in the vicinity of Kyo Tango City's Unono Town is a local dish that is a type of chirashi sushi filled with sweet and savory simmered mackerel flakes that can be quite addictive. It is often featured at the Kyoto Product Exhibition and is considered synonymous with "Torimatsu". I have visited many times and frequently purchased it at the product exhibition, so simply ordering the specialty bara-zushi dish (with osumashi) for 990 yen is a great deal. There are table seats, tatami rooms, and even a second floor, but it can often be full depending on the time.

I tried the "Barazushi" from Torimatsu that I saw at the Kyoto local products exhibition in the department store. The menu at the restaurant seems to mainly focus on fish dishes unique to Tango, such as sashimi, sushi, simmered fish, and fried fish. I chose the "Tango Ine Momiji Chicken Set Meal" from the menu, expecting the best from the "tori" in the restaurant's name. I opted to change the rice to the famous "Barazushi". The set meal features chicken sukiyaki, chicken tataki, chicken tempura, chicken soup, and momiji raw egg. The tataki and egg seemed to have been in the fridge for a long time (the surface of the tataki was dry and the eggshell and yolk were fragile), but I decided to eat them without worrying, thinking it might be a characteristic of the rare pure domestic breed. The texture is firm but not hard, which is nice. With a variety of dishes and plenty of chicken used, I felt like I had eaten a full course of chicken. The "Barazushi" tasted fresher than what I usually buy at local product exhibitions. It consists of vinegared rice, sweet and savory shredded mackerel, fluffy kinshi tamago, kamaboko for variety, shiitake mushrooms for depth of flavor, refreshing bamboo shoots, and tangy pickled ginger. Each ingredient plays a good role, and there is nothing unnecessary. The overall quality is high. (The green peas could be omitted). In conclusion, Torimatsu is better known for their "Barazushi" than their chicken dishes. The restaurant was empty on weekdays, so it seems okay to visit without a reservation.

One of the famous restaurants in Kyoto, Torimatsu. One of their specialties is the "barazushi". I forgot to take a picture of the contents, but it's a well-known dish so you can easily find pictures online. The rice is vinegar rice, and the simmered shiitake mushrooms and dried gourd are cooked perfectly as expected from a renowned Kyoto restaurant. The texture of the bamboo shoots is also great. You may not need the pickled ginger, but when eating a large portion alone, it can be refreshing in between bites. And the standout dish is the sabazushi. The vinegar is a bit strong, but it doesn't overpower the dish, so they must be using a special vinegar or have a good balance. Either way, it's a masterpiece that truly showcases why this restaurant is so highly regarded.

It used to be great! I have been coming here for the past 10 years during summer beach outings. Previously, they had dishes like parent-child rice bowl (around 800 yen) and chicken cutlet set meal (around 950 yen) featuring local chicken. My family of four would order half seafood and half local chicken, and especially the chicken cutlet was delicious, leaving everyone satisfied. However, when I visited in the summer of Reiwa 3, there were no dishes under 1000 yen, except for somen and bara sushi, everything else was over 2000 yen. (The photo is from Reiwa 3, a local chicken dish for 2000 yen) In the summer of Reiwa 4, the menu was still pricey. I can't justify paying that much for dishes like simmered fish or fried fish that I can make at home. (Dessert was bite-sized, one dish had pre-made rice, miso soup was average) No affordable options in tourist areas.

I went on a drive to Kyoto Tango to eat Tango set meal. This set meal offers a good deal on sashimi such as sea bream, squid, and turban shell. I love the slightly sweet sushi here, so I visit about once a year. Last time, I was delighted to find they had a booth at Kobe Hankyu, so I ended up buying some. No matter how many times I eat it, I never get tired of it and it always gives me a comforting feeling. They are also working hard on COVID-19 measures, so there are fewer seats than before.

The Tango set meal costs around 2500 yen and is quite satisfying. The appetizers come out quickly and are of high quality like in a traditional Japanese restaurant. The bara sushi was recommended to me as having a unique taste, and although I didn't understand it at first, I found it delicious on my second try. The sashimi is also very tasty and comes in generous portions. The chawanmushi was the best I've ever had in my life!!! However, the dessert yokan seemed to be frozen and watery, not very delicious, which was a bit disappointing. I hope they can improve on that. Thank you for the meal.

I visited on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was full of customers, but luckily I didn't have to wait long to be seated. [Atmosphere] The atmosphere is like a traditional Japanese restaurant. There are both sunken kotatsu-style seating and regular tables, and the place is quite spacious. [Food] I ordered the Tango set meal for 2350 yen, which included a sashimi platter and the famous bara-zushi. The appetizers included octopus and sesame tofu with cabbage. They were stylish and delicious, setting a high tone for the meal. The sashimi platter consisted of white fish, turban shell, and squid, and it was quite luxurious. The white fish was incredibly fresh and had a nice firm texture, very delicious. The bara-zushi had minced fish in between layers, combining the rich flavor of the fish with the fluffy egg and savory shiitake mushrooms, creating a unique and addictive taste. The famous bara-zushi was also delicious, and overall, I think this is a great restaurant where you can enjoy seasonal appetizers and fresh sashimi. I definitely want to visit again.

There are various restaurants that serve the local dish of Tango, bara sushi, and you can also find souvenirs at places like roadside stations. My favorite is "Torimatsu" here. The sweetness of the mackerel, the fluffy rolled omelette, there's nothing to complain about. Due to COVID, they were closed during my last Tango drive, but this time I was able to visit. I had the usual Tango set meal and was very satisfied with the fresh sashimi. Recently, I've seen them at bento festivals, but my husband always says it's best to go to "Torimatsu" for that fresh sashimi, so we don't eat the bentos. This visit, my husband said, "Let's go to Tango and eat it there instead of buying 'Torimatsu's bara sushi' at the nearby supermarket," which made this trip possible. It's been a while since I visited, and I realized that eating at the restaurant is the best after all. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Personally, I think this is the best restaurant in Kyotango. I often feel like eating bara sushi and fish combinations, so I visit from Osaka by car. Today, I had the Kyotango set lunch, which was of unprecedented quality and value for money. This kind of seafood is at a level that you can't experience in the city unless you go to a high-end restaurant. If this were in Shinchi, it would probably cost twice as much. It's rare to get sashimi of turban shell with lunch. The chutoro of sawara (Spanish mackerel), the sword squid, everything is at a fantastic level! The liver of turban shell is also served separately. As a bonus, there's a crab meat ankake with a raw gluten dumpling. Of course, the bara sushi is also excellent!! Ah, I'm so glad I came here (*´∇`*) I had a blissful time!

Visited for the first time on November 12, 2020 to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary with a short trip to the Japan Sea side of Kyoto Prefecture. Despite the pandemic, we decided to use the Go To Travel campaign, thinking that there wouldn't be too many people on the Japan Sea side. On the first day, we enjoyed the view of Amanohashidate. The plan for the second day was to drive along the coastline facing the Japan Sea in Kyoto Tango City. I drove on the first day, while my wife drove on the second day. My wife loves driving on winding, up-and-down roads. The weather was great for a drive. For lunch, we visited "Torimatsu," famous for its bara-zushi. We had made a reservation, so we were seated right away. Due to COVID-19 measures, they had drastically reduced the number of seats. There are two options for bara-zushi lunch sets: bara-zushi set (1,600 yen) and Tango set (2,300 yen). We ordered the bara-zushi set and a side of chawanmushi (200 yen). Bara-zushi seems to be a specialty for special occasions in Tango. It is a colorful sushi with mackerel flakes between the vinegared rice, topped with kinshi egg, kamaboko, simmered shiitake mushrooms, green peas, and pickled ginger. Along with this, the set includes boiled komatsuna and fried tofu, simmered taro, konjac, and mushrooms, fried small fish, clear soup, and kudzu mochi for dessert. The mackerel flakes were not fishy at all, with a slightly sweet seasoning at the center of the sushi. The vinegared rice was cooked and seasoned well, harmonizing the whole dish. The decorative ingredients were not only beautiful but also tasty. Overall, I thought it was a dish worthy of a special occasion that everyone had been eagerly waiting for. The chawanmushi was also delicious and piping hot. Thank you for the meal. In the afternoon, we visited the Ano Mitsumasa Museum at Wakuden no Mori to see an exhibition of picture books. In the evening, when we stopped by the Michi no Eki Kyoto Tanba Ajimu no Sato on the Kyoto Jukan Expressway, the "Torimatsu bara-zushi" was sold out. It is indeed quite popular.

After a long time, I visited to eat oyakodon. I have ordered osechi a few times before, and the mackerel sushi is incredibly delicious. Of course, the bara sushi is also incredibly delicious. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the menu has been greatly reduced since the reopening in July. Items like oyakodon and chicken dishes were no longer available. Even udon was not on the menu. The only options left were bara sushi set, simmered fish, and seafood bowl. There were only a few a la carte options like sashimi from local waters, with no chicken dishes in sight. The only chicken sukiyaki set on the set menu was not available that day. Instead, it seemed like it had turned into a fish specialty restaurant. Nevertheless, the bara sushi was incredibly delicious, and the seafood bowl was also excellent. The sashimi and seafood bowl made from local waters were fantastic. Truly living up to its reputation as a long-standing restaurant. It was full shortly after opening, with only about half the usual number of customers due to social distancing measures. A line quickly formed outside. Reservations are not accepted, so be prepared to arrive early.

I went on a drive to Kyotango at the end of August this year, for the third year in a row. We visited fruit shops in Kumihama, stopped by a famous pizza place, and enjoyed seafood. This time, we checked on Tabelog and decided to have lunch at "Torimatsu". Despite the name, it's actually a long-established restaurant known for its local seafood and traditional dishes in Tanba. We were looking forward to trying the Bara Sushi here, as we heard it's completely different from the one in our Harima region, and the reviews were great. Since it's a popular spot, we were worried about the wait, but when we arrived around 1 pm on a weekday, the restaurant was only half full. They had alcohol disinfection at the entrance, and the small private room we were seated in had acrylic dividers. They are taking thorough measures against COVID-19. My wife ordered the Bara Sushi set meal, and I had the Tanba set meal. We were served an appetizer of tomato jelly, simmered bell peppers, thick omelet, and a pumpkin soup. The soup was delicious with a Japanese-style broth. The tomato jelly seemed unique to us. Next came the Bara Sushi, sashimi, steamed egg custard, and grape jelly for dessert. The box-shaped Bara Sushi was larger than expected, topped with gold-threaded egg, fish paste, shiitake mushrooms, green peas, pickled ginger, and minced fish on the bottom. The minced fish was sweet and savory, and even though the portion was generous, I managed to finish it easily. The sashimi was fresh and tasty, especially the crunchy turban shell, lightly seared flavorful mackerel, and the sweet and chewy rockfish that was more delicious than the sea bream. The flavors were unique to the fishing port. I'm sure the sushi would be delicious too. The windows were open for ventilation, and thanks to the rain, it was cool, allowing us to enjoy our lunch leisurely. I would like to come back again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Every year, I always make a stop at this winter crab tour destination, but this year I decided to make a stop in summer in Beijing as well. When the restaurant opened, it seemed like the turnover rate wasn't very high, maybe due to social distancing measures. So, I took a chance and managed to slip in before the rush. Hmm, it looks like the menu is a bit limited now, with fewer lower-priced items available. It might be tough until the end of the pandemic... Anyway, last night and this morning I had Western food, so I was craving sashimi. I ordered a sashimi set, a grilled fish set, and a mixed sushi set! As I leisurely sipped tea on the tatami mat, the appetizer brought back nostalgic flavors. And the classic mixed sushi... Oh my, this is so good! I even got some for takeout for dinner... The sashimi seemed to be local fish too... Oh my, this is so good! I don't even need to eat the melon at the end... If it's nearby, I'd love to come here every month.
