Located in the area of Nagahama 2-chome 4 in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, about a 15-minute walk from Akasaka Station, is the "Shin Nagahama Yokocho Building," which is over 60 years old. Established in February 2000, this seafood izakaya prides itself on dishes made with seafood sourced from the Nagahama Fish Market in Fukuoka, known as the city's kitchen. Popular for its lunch menu featuring items like sea urchin, salmon roe, and seafood bowls, this restaurant often has long lines of customers waiting to dine. The exterior of the building, a mixed-use structure that is showing signs of aging after over 60 years, gives off a vibe reminiscent of a movie set, with most of the tenants having left and the place resembling a ruin. Upon entering, guests are required to remove their shoes. The interior features counter seats and traditional sunken kotatsu table seating, creating a relaxed and spacious atmosphere. I tried the "Special Seafood Bowl," which was visually appealing with sea urchin and salmon roe as the centerpiece, surrounded by items like medium fatty tuna, salmon, sea bream, tamagoyaki, and seaweed. While the restaurant offers free large rice portions, the actual size of the bowl is smaller than expected, which may leave male diners feeling that it is not quite enough. The seafood was fresh and delicious, with the medium fatty tuna being particularly flavorful. The sea urchin had no hint of the usual chemical taste, indicating good freshness. The salmon and sea bream were also top-quality, making for a satisfying seafood bowl experience. The set meal comes with side dishes, salad, pickles, and soup, but the quality of these items did not quite match up to the seafood bowl. In particular, the small portion of boiled spinach lacked flavor. It would be better if even simple dishes were made with care to enhance the overall value of the set meal. Next time, I will try the sea urchin and salmon roe bowl. Thank you for the meal. Enjoy Gourmet Life☆
