Today, on a steamy and slightly cloudy day, I went out for a meal for the first time in two weeks and will be sharing my review! During this time, I had lost my sense of taste and smell due to some issues. As a food blogger, this was a major setback. I went through a period where meals were not enjoyable at all, but today, feeling much better, I decided to have a rich ramen as part of my rehabilitation plan! The restaurant is located about a 10-minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station, just west of Nanokawa Yotsukado. Although I couldn't find out the exact year it was established, the building it occupies was completed in 2000, and they have been there since then. So, the restaurant has been in business for over 20 years! I arrived a little after 2 pm, and the place was packed! The interior had a nostalgic Showa era vibe, with staff members bustling around, although service was a bit slow. I quickly decided on the ramen and fried rice set, which was priced at only 790 yen! The ramen alone cost 640 yen, and the additional fried rice was only 150 yen, which is amazing! The cost performance is outstanding! The fried rice arrived after a 15-minute wait, filled with ingredients such as egg, chopped green onions, carrots, and onions. The rice itself was soft but had a rich and fluffy taste. It had more volume than the typical half-fried rice and was really a great deal! Soon after, the ramen was served! The soup had a rich flavor that was truly noticeable. It had been a long time since I had tasted something like this. Many reviewers had mentioned that the soup was sweet, and indeed, the aftertaste was quite sweet. I believe a sweet soy sauce base was used as a hidden flavor, making the tonkotsu broth sweet. The toppings included two slices of tender pork, chopped green onions, and wood ear mushrooms, keeping it simple. The tender pork was marinated in the sweet sauce, adding to the overall sweetness. The medium-thick straight noodles had a satisfying chew, so I quickly ordered an extra serving for 100 yen, which was a great deal. After a morning walk where I worked up a sweat and felt hungry, being able to enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen was truly a joy! In the end, I was completely satisfied for only 890 yen. With the ongoing rise in ingredient costs, it's rare to find such a cost-effective restaurant! Ah, to be able to enjoy a bowl of ramen like this is such a happiness! I truly felt grateful. Thank you for the meal!

A ramen shop located near the Nakanokawa intersection, about 2km south of Tenjin. They offer traditional Hakata ramen at reasonable prices. The ramen is 640 yen, while the wonton noodles are 800 yen, but with a generous amount of plump wontons, it's a great deal. The noodles are medium thick, providing a satisfying chewiness. The soup is a milky white type with a hint of saltiness and not too oily. It's a taste that makes you reminisce about how Hakata ramen used to be. The gyoza set includes 4 well-filled gyoza and a mountain of rice for only 200 yen. The fried rice set, with a normal portion, is only 150 yen extra. It's delicious and nostalgic. A place that you want to see thrive.

I went to "Men Toku-ya" in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City for the first time in a while. I ordered the ramen (640 yen) with a fried rice set (150 yen extra). Oh no... the surface was covered with a white substance that looked like foam or some kind of residue. (T_T) It didn't seem like this before. Feeling disappointed, I took a sip of the soup... Oh, it's delicious! (^_^;) It has a rich and smooth taste, with a hint of rustic flavor that I can barely detect. But the ginger and garlic flavors wrap around it nicely. The noodles are medium-thin, balancing well with the soup. I asked for them to be cooked firm, but they felt a bit too chewy, so I tried a regular extra serving (100 yen) and it was very tasty. The chashu had a good seasoning of ginger and garlic. Maybe that was the flavor I sensed in the first sip of the soup? The fried rice was nicely done, with a good amount of savory seasoning and a crispy texture. Despite the price increase in the past five years, getting ramen with fried rice and an extra serving for 890 yen is still a good deal. Yes, I recommend it. (^o^)/

On the second day of my business trip in Fukuoka, I traveled from Kitakyushu to Hakata. First, I had ramen for lunch. I went to a place near my destination. The fried rice set for an additional 150 yen was amazing! And it was delicious too. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and served traditional Hakata ramen. The noodles were firm, just the way I like them. This is it!

The tonkotsu ramen is light and very delicious. There is a parking lot, but it may be difficult to park in front of the store. The fried rice is moist and slightly on the salty side, but tasty. There is no sauce, so you can change the flavor with pickled vegetables. I was very satisfied with the ramen.

It was lunchtime and there was no wait, with several empty seats inside the restaurant. There is space in front of the restaurant to park about 2 cars. I ordered the Char Siu Ramen with an additional 150 yen for fried rice. The Char Siu Ramen was a typical foam-style pork bone ramen. The taste was decent, neither good nor bad. The Char Siu was thinly sliced and not very flavorful. The fried rice was fluffy, but like the ramen, it lacked a strong flavor or punch. It was just an average pork bone ramen. However, considering the low price, the cost performance may be good. Thank you for the meal!

First visit. Ordered ramen for 620 yen and a fried rice set for 150 yen. The fried rice was crispy and not too salty, which went well with the flavorful ramen soup. The ramen soup had a classic Nagahama tonkotsu flavor. The chashu was juicy and delicious. I usually find ramen with wood ear mushrooms to be disappointing, but the ones here were quite good. Thank you for the meal.

Ramen 620 yen After a drinking party last night, I wanted to eat ramen as a finishing touch, but the restaurant I was aiming for was closed. The next day, I still felt like having Fukuoka ramen after a long time, so I chose this nearby restaurant. According to the Tabelog information, it was supposed to open at 11:30, so I visited right on time, but there was a notice saying that it would open at 12 PM today. I wandered around in the scorching heat, and found another ramen shop. I entered, but it felt a bit uncomfortable in terms of appearance and hygiene, so I made an excuse and left the shop. I continued wandering, passing time by going into convenience stores and drugstores with air conditioning, waiting for 12 PM. Finally, at 12 PM, I went to the restaurant and they were just putting up the curtain. I entered after getting permission. I ordered a regular, orthodox ramen, but other customers were ordering an additional set with fried rice or gyoza for an extra 150 yen. My ramen had a lot of green onions, which I like. There were plenty of wood ear mushrooms, but I'm not a big fan of them. The condiments included sesame seeds, pickled ginger, and spicy mustard greens, which were also good. The tonkotsu soup was quite delicious. It was nice to have ramen in Fukuoka after a long time. It was a good, orthodox ramen.

Fukuoka City Chuo-ku Takasago 2-11-5 Area - 10 minutes walk from Nishitetsu "Hirao Station"! Along the Hyakunen Bridge Street! Located near the intersection of Nanokawa. This place has been in business for over 20 years! The exterior is on the first floor of an apartment building! Inside, there are counter seats and table seats! I visited during lunchtime, but there was a wait of 4 people! It seems to be popular during lunchtime. Upon entering, we were asked to disinfect and were seated at the counter! Everyone was asked to wear masks by the staff as they waited for their ramen, but some customers found it bothersome and grumbled while putting on their masks. The menu mainly consists of "Tonkotsu Ramen," but they also have "Shoyu Ramen"! Most customers ordered the ramen with an additional 150 yen "Chahan" set, which seemed to be a great deal. However, there was an issue with the operation. The "Chahan" set is only prepared when there are orders for about 6 servings! Therefore, the first customer had to wait for over 20 minutes, which seemed to make them irritated. From the counter, I could see the process of making the ramen, where they added a small teaspoon of salt to the bowl, poured about one ladle of "kaeshi shoyu" with a ladle, added some fat to the surface of the pot, and then finished with the soup and noodles. I ordered the ramen and chahan. First, I tried the soup, which was not as good as expected. The light tonkotsu broth was lacking in flavor, and the balance with the salt was off. The noodles were thin with low water content, and the toppings included pork belly chashu, green onions, and wood ear mushrooms. Finally, the long-awaited chahan was served, but it seemed rushed in preparation. It needed more cooking and the seasoning was not quite right, so I ended up leaving half uneaten. Despite the long wait and good value, I think it would be better to skip the chahan at this level. They have delicious chashu, so I recommend ordering the chashu don instead to improve the operation and avoid long waits. There were many areas for improvement that I noticed at this restaurant. Thank you for the meal. Enjoy Ramen Life☆

●Men Tokuya (Men Toku-ya) ●103, 2-11-5 Takasago, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture ●Ramen: 580 yen ●Personal Impression 【Soup】 A rich, sweet, foam-based soup 【Noodles】 Gentle, thin noodles with a nice texture 【Toppings】 Chashu pork, green onions, wood ear mushrooms 【Impression】 A shop that has been around for a long time, and although I knew of its existence, I never had the chance to visit. It's a place I was personally curious about. Despite being foam-based, the soup has a nice sweetness and a strong base flavor, all for only 580 yen in Fukuoka City! If it's nearby, it's a shop I would visit regularly. #Ramen #MenTokuya #RamenLover #TonkotsuRamen #FukuokaRamen #SagaRamen #NoodleLover #Foodie #JapaneseFood #Gourmet

Be careful as the nearby ramen shop with good cost performance may be closed on Sundays even though it is supposed to be open, or may open at 12:00 instead of 11:30. Today, it opened at 12:00 again and was full 10 minutes later. The interior of the shop, with its seasoned black floors and walls, doesn't look like a typical restaurant. The menu includes: 1) Wonton noodles for 730 yen, 2) Black soy sauce pork bone ramen for 680 yen, 3) Shoyu ramen for 730 yen, 4) Fried rice set for 150 yen, and 5) Gyoza and rice set for 200 yen. The fried rice was delicious with just the right amount of saltiness and well-cooked. The wonton noodles, although looking rich, were surprisingly light with a mild pork bone broth and well-cooked wontons with plenty of ginger-flavored meat. The black soy sauce pork bone ramen had a punchy ma oil flavor and was rich, while the shoyu ramen had a subtle seafood broth and was light but well-balanced. It's been a while since I visited this long-standing shop, and the food was still delicious. I left thinking I should visit more often.

I go there regularly because it's close to home. It's quite busy during the day. Ordering the gyoza or fried rice set takes a long time, so I've been ordering just ramen and rice recently. The taste is a simple tonkotsu ramen, not too strong or too weak. The soup is light and clear, with no strong flavors.

This is a pork bone ramen shop located within a few minutes from Hirao Station. You can park at a nearby parking lot. The shop has a traditional Chinese atmosphere and offers both pork bone and soy sauce ramen on the menu. The ramen arrives shortly after ordering. [Pork Bone Ramen] The pork bone broth is creamy, similar to a cappuccino. The flavor is relatively light and easy to drink. The noodles are medium-thin and straight, complementing the soup well. The chashu is juicy and delicious. [Black Soy Sauce Pork Bone Ramen] This ramen has a rich flavor with a hint of garlic oil. It is more flavorful than the pork bone ramen. The crunchy menma adds a nice touch. [Fried Rice] The set comes with fried rice that is delicious and fluffy. The portion size is generous when ordered with ramen, making it a good value. [Dumplings] The handmade dumplings are juicy and flavorful. The spicy pickled vegetables are also tasty. Overall, this shop offers a good balance of quality, value, and COVID-19 prevention measures.

First visit. The interior has a nice old-fashioned feel, which I personally really like. Excitedly sat at the counter and ordered the ramen + fried rice set. First to arrive was the fried rice. Mmm, delicious. ^_^ It tasted just like the fried rice you'd expect from a ramen shop. The chef was skillfully tossing the wok, which raised my expectations for the ramen. As I enjoyed the fried rice, the ramen arrived with a creamy foam soup! Scooped up some soup with the ladle and slurped... Mmm, tasty. The flavor was like a classic rich pork bone ramen. It was similar to the reliable and satisfying taste of "Akahoren" that I like! Adding pickled mustard greens, red pickled ginger, ground sesame, etc., allows you to enjoy various flavors, even with extra noodles. Definitely coming back! (´ε` ) Mufufu

Located near Takasago and Na no Kawa intersection in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, this is a popular tonkotsu ramen shop in the area. I used to live nearby a long time ago, and I often visited this place for delicious ramen. The sign says "Men Tokuya" in Japanese characters, but it is pronounced as "Men Toku Ya". I'm not sure when it was established, but it has been around for at least 10 to 20 years. There are about two parking spaces in front of the shop. It's a popular place, so if you find a spot, you're lucky! On my first visit in years, I felt excited. The interior has a counter and table seats with a nostalgic feel. The kitchen owner is quiet but greets you politely, and the female staff is friendly. On the table, there are toppings like pickled ginger, spicy mustard greens, sesame seeds, and pepper for tonkotsu ramen. The basic ramen costs 580 yen, and an extra serving of noodles costs 80 yen, making it an affordable price for regular visits. Although it's a tonkotsu ramen shop, their shoyu and miso (currently on hold) ramen are also delicious. But after a long time, I decided to go with tonkotsu. I ordered the Chashu Men for 850 yen. It used to be considered quite rich in the local area back when I used to visit frequently, but with the increase of rich tonkotsu shops in Fukuoka, it now feels like a medium richness level. The flavor and saltiness of the sauce linger and make you thirsty, but you end up drinking the soup. I chose my noodles to be firm. The neatly rolled chashu is delicious, and the broth isn't too fatty, which is nice. My colleague ordered the Wonton Men for 730 yen. It comes with 6 plump wontons. I always order the fried rice set here. For an extra 150 yen on top of the ramen price, you get a generous portion of fried rice. While there are many gourmet ramen options these days, I believe this ramen and fried rice set from a local B-class gourmet spot is a gem. Thank you for the meal. "In the end, I think Men Tokuya is the tastiest. It's been quite a while since I heard this from the owner of a certain izakaya, and I immediately went to check it out. The result was that I started visiting regularly at Men Tokuya in Takasago. This place is not often featured on TV or social media, but during lunchtime, it's always crowded with customers, and even during off-peak hours, there are quite a few people dining. The ramen is incredibly delicious, and surprisingly affordable. The ramen is priced at 580 yen, which is cheap considering the quality, but the real value of this place lies in the additional options like extra noodles for 80 yen, adding fried rice for +150 yen, or getting gyoza and rice set for +200 yen, making it easy to enjoy a delicious and satisfying meal at a low cost. This is why the locals have been supporting it for a long time. The building where Men Tokuya is located was built in 2000, and I remember that Men Tokuya has been there since the building was constructed, making it a well-established restaurant for over 20 years. The interior of the restaurant has a vintage feel, with blackened floors from oil stains and tables that show signs of age. Despite being located on the ground floor of a designer apartment building, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is quite unique. Recently, a customer asked me if there was a good tonkotsu ramen place nearby my real estate office, so I decided to visit Men Tokuya with them. The entrance to the restaurant is a bit hidden, but there are two parking spaces available. We parked in one of them and approached the restaurant. Outside the restaurant, there are A-frame signs displaying the menu with prices, and the set menu options are also highlighted. The restaurant's opening hours are from 11:30 to 16:30 for lunch and 19:00 to 23:00 for dinner, closed on Sundays. During the period of priority measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the restaurant closes at 20:00. Upon entering the restaurant, we were asked to sanitize our hands by the female staff, and then we were seated at a table. The restaurant has a spacious interior with table and counter seating, and it is operated by three staff members - two in the kitchen and one in the dining area. The table is equipped with condiments like pepper, sesame, soy sauce, gyoza sauce, chili oil, pickled ginger, and spicy pickled vegetables. I usually order the wonton ramen here, but this time I went for the regular ramen with fried rice set and a side of gyoza. The dishes arrived promptly, and the ramen had a rich broth with a good balance of flavors and a nice aroma of pork bone. The noodles were homemade and delicious, but they tended to soften quickly, so it's best to eat them quickly. The chashu pork was well-cooked and flavorful. Overall, the ramen at Men Tokuya is top-notch, and the prices are very reasonable. The quality and taste of the food here make it worth a visit, and I can see why it's a favorite among the locals."

Night ramen has been allowed again, and my excitement is rising these days. Today, I visited Men Tokuya, which I haven't been to in 9 months. I arrived around 9:30 PM, and there were about 3 groups of customers inside. I properly disinfected my hands at the entrance and took a seat at the counter. Looking at the reviews, it seems like I had Wonton noodles last time, so this time I ordered the Shoyu ramen with fried rice set. In less than 10 minutes, the Shoyu ramen and fried rice arrived. Unlike the beautiful Shoyu ramen you see nowadays, this had a more old-fashioned Chinese noodles vibe, which I really like. The soup had a strong and rich flavor that I enjoy. The noodles were different from tonkotsu ramen, and the boiled egg that comes with Men Tokuya's ramen always adds a special touch. And for just an additional 150 yen, you get the fried rice, which is a great deal. Plus, you can mix in the spicy pickled mustard greens available at the counter to make it into mustard green fried rice. This kind of customization is what makes this place stand out! I really want to visit this place more often, but it's not easy. Despite that, I have been here over 20 times. It's truly one of my top favorite places in Fukuoka! Next time, I'll try the Wonton noodles. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant after 12 o'clock, and since it was lunchtime, there was only one seat available at the counter. I was lucky to get in and found a variety of ramen options such as miso, soy sauce, char siu, and wonton. I ordered the basic ramen with a fried rice set. The ramen was only 580 yen (cheap!) and it came with fried rice for an additional 150 yen, which was a good deal! Many people seemed to be ordering the fried rice set. After waiting for about 15 minutes, my order arrived. The fried rice had a home-cooked taste to it. The ramen had a rich and delicious pork bone broth, making it a hearty ramen. I looked for garlic to add, but unfortunately, there was none. I would like to try the ramen with an extra serving of noodles next time. \( ˆ V ˆ )/
