On a regular weekday evening, I decided to dine out alone. I got off at Kichijoji on my way home from work. I was craving meat hot pot, so I found this shabu-shabu restaurant and decided to stop by. It was a weekday but they offered all-you-can-eat. The restaurant was on the 3rd floor of a building, so I took the elevator up. Even though I was dining alone, I was seated at a table. I ordered a highball and the dinner special which included Iberico pork and beef all-you-can-eat. I chose the white dashi and medium spicy red miso dashi. The tongs for picking up vegetables were small and made it difficult to grab each vegetable. While I was preparing the vegetables and sauce, the hot pot was prepared for me. The service from the staff was good. The meats included Iberico pork, three-layer pork shoulder, three-layer pork belly, chicken, chicken meatballs, and beef. The meats were all decently tasty, especially the Iberico pork. I made my own sauce with sesame sauce, spicy chili oil, grated daikon radish, grated garlic, chopped pickled vegetables, and ponzu. However, the sauce tasted a bit off, perhaps because of my mixing. The sesame sauce seemed sweet. The small plastic sauce dish was cheaply made and hard to use, causing the sauce to splash around. The items cooked in the red miso dashi were delicious even without dipping them in the sauce. The three-layer pork shoulder had little fat and was tasty, so I had seconds and ate a lot. The vegetables like lotus root and daikon were delicious. Root vegetables were good. The sauce tasted better with more ponzu. The chopped green onions, pickled vegetables, and yuzu pepper for the sauce were also good. After I stopped eating meat, I drank a bit of the dashi. The white dashi was delicious. Notably, the soft-serve ice cream I had afterwards was exceptionally tasty. After indulging in greasy meat, the cold treat was a delight. The restaurant was filled with young people like students, and I overheard conversations about part-time jobs. There were also groups of foreign tourists enjoying their trip to Japan. I'm 48 years old, and I didn't see anyone else my age there. Despite being an old man, I really enjoy all-you-can-eat. I ate and drank a lot, but the total bill came to 2,979 yen, which was great value for money. I heard that this restaurant is part of the Skylark Group.
