A soba restaurant in Kitakyushu with top-notch ratings. It was a bit difficult to visit since it only operates during lunch hours, and there were times when it was unexpectedly closed. When I first tried to go, the operating hours had just changed, and I ended up arriving after the last order. This time, I finally got to visit during my long-awaited day off. However, inside the restaurant, including the food, photography was prohibited, so please be aware of that. Additionally, there were many signs both inside and outside the restaurant regarding COVID-19 precautions. To cooperate, I waited wearing a mask and washed my hands with hand sanitizer, only to realize that it had a strong scent of aloe. The delicate aroma of the soba was completely overshadowed by the aloe, making it hard to taste the food. I sadly finished my meal while looking at the tropical fish displayed in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

I visited during lunch time on a regular day! There was no line, but the restaurant was almost full! I ordered the popular Tenzaru with extra noodles! The buckwheat noodles are from Tokachi, sourced from Lake Mashu! They are thin, but have a good texture with a nice chewiness! They taste great when dipped in the dipping sauce! The tempura, including shrimp and vegetables, was quite generous in portion and satisfying! The shrimp was large and delicious! Finally, I finished with soba-yu (hot water) to complete the meal! Even though I ordered extra noodles, the portion didn't feel too large! It was delicious, but the extra charge of 400 yen for the large portion was a bit high! If it was a bit more affordable, I think my satisfaction level would have been even higher! Thank you for the meal!

I visited during the daytime on a regular day. The restaurant has about 10 seats (each table for 2 people). Although the reviews mentioned that the cold soba was popular, I prefer warm dishes, so I decided to order the meat soba with chicken rice. - Meat Soba: 3.3 The noodles were very thin, which I liked. The soup was decently tasty. However, I found the meat to be a bit disappointing (it was a bit bland). Overall, it was light but delicious. - Chicken Rice: 3.3 There was nothing particularly special about the taste. However, considering that it was offered for only 100 yen, it was a good value. In the end, it was tasty! One thing to note is that: 1. You have to call for water or tea as it is not placed on the table for refills. 2. Since the restaurant mainly serves cold soba, there is no ladle provided for the warm soba. You have to lift the bowl to drink the broth. Next time, I might try the cold soba. - PayPay is not accepted. - The parking lot can fit 4 cars, but the road leading to it is quite narrow, so be cautious.

I was around this area for work, so I decided to have lunch here! I came with a friend I had gotten close to. - Atmosphere: Simple interior with a center water tank with small fish, maybe medaka. Kitchen in the back. - Ordering: Fill out a form, pay at the register. - Customers/Crowd: There were customers before us, but we were served quickly. It was a weekday, so I'm not sure how busy it gets on weekends. - Time spent: Entered at 12:20, soba arrived at 12:33. - Service: The restaurant is run by a husband and wife. The husband was quiet but seemed kind. - Menu: Soba, kashiwa gohan. - Parking: Seems to be available. - Food: The soba noodles were thin with a good texture. The dipping sauce had a strong dashi flavor, and I ended up drinking all of it. I ordered the kashiwa gohan for 100 yen thinking it would be small, but it was surprisingly large. However, it had a gentle flavor and the rice was fluffy, so I finished it. - Zaru soba for 900 yen and I was completely full.

I visited Kikisan, a hand-made soba restaurant in Tobata-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture! When I was looking for a place to eat in Tobata, this soba restaurant came up, so I decided to go there based on my intuition without looking too much into it. There is a parking lot near the shop, and there is a map on the exterior wall of the shop. The interior of the shop is small, with about 8 seats. I was considering getting tempura, but I ended up ordering the cold Yamakake Soba for 1100 yen! After a while, the bowl arrived, and it was a Bukkake style. I mixed the dipping sauce and wasabi together and enjoyed it. Everything came together so well, and I was completely captivated by it! The noodles were thin and flat, and I'm not sure what percentage of soba they were, but based on the comments I've seen, they seem to be 100% soba. I don't know much about soba, so I will continue to learn more about it. I finished eating in no time! I should have ordered a large serving (*_*). The atmosphere of the shop is nice, so I would like to visit again soon!

It's a bit hard to find the place. The soba set costs 1200 yen, a bit pricey but since it's right after payday, it's okay. The set includes soba noodles, kashiwa rice, and vegetable tempura. The noodles are thin and smooth. The tempura was freshly fried and delicious!

Two groups of customers visited at 11:30 am on a weekday. The parking lot was a bit far. I have had lunch here a few times, so this time I ordered grated soba. The soba noodles had a different cut, with a square shape that provided a great texture. I could feel the attention to detail in the grated radish and the bonito flakes. The portion of lunch soba was small, and even as a woman, I wanted to eat more soba.

I visited around 11:20 on a regular day and the curtain was down, so I thought they might be open. They opened about 5 minutes later. I had come before around 12:30 and couldn't find parking, so I recommend coming early. We ordered the tempura soba and it was delicious. The soba here is my favorite, with a good texture and great bite. The tempura was light, highlighting the quality of the mushrooms and vegetables.

Around 11:45, there is a first parking lot on the far side of the visited store in Kokura, which is a bit hard to find. There are signs in front of the store, but it's not very noticeable. Thanks to a reviewer who posted a picture of the parking lot, it was helpful. I ordered the lunch set with affordable soba and vegetable tempura. It seems that the amount of shrimp and soba increases with the tempura set. The set also comes with chicken rice, so it's quite a good deal. The soba noodles are thin, and you can really feel the craftsmanship. The scent of buckwheat flour is strong, and the soba is very delicious. Among the soba places in Tobata, this is my favorite. The tempura also stands out for the deliciousness of the vegetables. The chicken rice has a strong flavor. I definitely want to come back again.

The soba noodles cost 1500 yen, while the kashiwa rice costs 100 yen. I thought they opened at 11 am, so I arrived at 11:10, but they actually open at 11:30. I took a walk around and came back at 11:25 to find that they were already open. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with only 8 seats due to COVID-19 measures. The soba noodles were made from 100% buckwheat from Lake Mashu. The noodles were thin and had a decent aroma, but were a bit firm. The tempura included 2 shrimp tempura and various vegetable tempura, which were delicious. I also tried the kashiwa rice with the tempura, and it was even better than the soba noodles. I finished the meal with soba broth. As I was eating, two more groups arrived, almost filling up the restaurant. Despite its slightly remote location, the quality of the food makes it worth visiting. Thank you for the meal.

◉Genre: Soba, Handmade Soba, Authentic Soba ◉Area: Behind the station in Tobata-ku, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: Less than 5 minutes on foot from JR Tobata Station ◉Parking: Available (not next to the restaurant) ◉Credit card payment: Not available ◉Number of visits: 2nd time ◉Number of reviews: 1st time On this day, I decided to visit "Handmade Soba K" on a whim. ◇Exterior and Interior The exterior exudes a sense of tradition or a nostalgic downtown atmosphere. Sorry if this is a bit biased. ◇Seating There are 8 seats at the face-to-face counter, one table for 2 people, and it's a cozy space. ◇Menu Composition The main focus is on soba, with only kashiwa meshi (chicken and egg rice bowl) as another option. The items I ordered were as follows: ・Zaru Soba (900 yen) → The soba flour used is only from Mashu, Hokkaido. It takes a bit of time before it is served, but a beautiful plate of soba arrived. The condiments included were wasabi, green onions, and grated daikon. The dipping sauce was a sharp and spicy type, which might be rare in Kitakyushu. The soba noodles were thin-cut with 100% buckwheat. They were quite thin! They were moist and had a good texture. The aroma of the soba was decent, and I enjoyed it while adding condiments. The dipping sauce paired well with the noodles, and it was delicious. Surprisingly, the grated daikon also complemented the dish well. And for some reason, I really liked the soba-yu (hot water used to boil soba). It was unexpectedly to my liking, and I could drink it all down smoothly. ◆Strong Points You can enjoy authentic handmade 100% buckwheat soba here. They do not boil the noodles all at once, showing the owner's dedication! While there are some soba restaurants in the city that use domestic soba flour, it is rare to always use Mashu flour like this place. ◆Customer Service The service was polite and kind. ◆Summary It had been a while since I last visited, and I once again thought it was delicious. However, since it seems to be run by a husband and wife, the service can be a bit slow, so if you're in a hurry, it might be better to choose another soba restaurant. Despite the small space, I like the effort and atmosphere of wanting customers to enjoy delicious soba. Thank you for the meal!

A couple visited the restaurant in the early afternoon on a regular day. There were no other customers present. The reviewer ordered the "Ten Soba with Kashiwa Rice (+100 yen)" while their spouse ordered the limited edition "Soba Assortment (Zaru Soba)." The restaurant had a sign requesting customers to refrain from taking photos with cameras or smartphones, so the reviewer respected the rule. The interior of the restaurant was bright and clean, with a refreshing atmosphere different from its exterior. There was a fish tank in the middle of the tables with beautiful goldfish swimming inside, adding to the pleasant ambiance. The food presentation was so appealing that the reviewer regretted not being able to take photos. The tempura had a light and crispy batter, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through. The Kashiwa rice was subtly seasoned, allowing the dashi flavor to come through. The soba noodles were thin, providing a smooth texture, although some may find it slightly lacking in quantity. The noodles paired well with the dipping sauce, creating a delicious combination. The reviewer felt that the price of around 2850 yen for two people was not particularly cost-effective, but the variety of tempura and the attention to detail in making the soba noodles showed the chef's dedication to providing a unique dining experience. The reviewer suggested that this restaurant would be a good choice for those looking to add a touch of luxury to their everyday dining experience.

At a location along the railway tracks in Tobata, it's a bit hard to find. Three of my colleagues and I visited, and luckily managed to get the last three servings of soba. The tempura soba costs 1500 yen, a bit on the pricey side, but it could be a nice treat for yourself during lunch.

A quiet soba restaurant with only about 10 seats. I had the tempura soba. The soba noodles had a nice firm texture and were easy to slurp. The aroma of the soba was strong. The tempura was average.

Soba noodles have a strong fragrance but are often short. Tempura is made with tempura flour.

No doubt about it. I think there are few soba noodles as delicious as this in Kyushu. Lately, there have been a lot of customers, so I try to go early. The soba set is also a good deal.
