First visit to the famous tonkatsu specialty restaurant, Kurobuta Tonkatsu Kuromatsu. The restaurant relocated from Haruyoshi in November 2021, and initially opened in Haruyoshi in April 2020 as a takeout and delivery only store. Not sure if the capital is the same, but in the same month of November 2021, Kurobuta Tonkatsu Kuromatsu Sapporo Akarenga Terrace Store also opened, showing momentum and popularity. Located one street south from Meiji Street, behind the old Daimyo Elementary School, there is a long entrance with a waiting room inside, and a ticket machine to the left after entering. The menu mainly consists of tonkatsu set meals and katsudon. There are loin katsu, rib loin katsu, fillet katsu, and chateaubriand fillet katsu set meals, each with a special set with a larger gram size. There is also a katsudon with black pork loin katsu, including a special option. I was really curious about the katsudon, but this time I purchased the most popular special loin katsu set meal (200g) and curry roux. The set meal includes rice, miso soup, and cabbage, and extra rice is free. If you want to add rice, miso soup, or cabbage, you can purchase them separately. My companion bought the thick-cut rib loin katsu set meal, which has the largest gram size of 250g. *I thought I should have chosen that one, but let's keep it a secret*. I purchased the food ticket and proceeded to the long counter. There are two 4-person table seats and two 2-person table seats as you go further inside, and I sat at a table seat. On the table, there is rock salt, tonkatsu soy sauce, tonkatsu sauce, spicy yuzu pepper, mustard, and truffle dressing. Looking at the eating instructions, it says to first taste the meat as it is to enjoy the flavor and tenderness, then try it with wasabi and Itozaki soy sauce, Andes rock salt, and see how it tastes. It is said that the pork used is the highest-grade Minamishu Kurobuta, so I was very excited while waiting! Soon, the tray with the black pork special loin katsu set meal with extra rice and curry roux arrived! The thickness of the tonkatsu is amazing! The tonkatsu, fried to a crisp, has a slightly pink center, and the meat's elasticity is incredible. When pressed, a transparent meat juice oozes out, showing that the cooking is perfect. First, I squeezed lemon and dipped it in salt to taste it, and the pork, which has no strong taste, is also soft and tender. The texture is firm, but the meat juice that overflows from the tender meat is incredibly delicious! I tried it with wasabi and wasabi soy sauce next, and the mildness of the soy sauce and the refreshing taste of the wasabi created a different deliciousness. When eaten with sauce and mustard, it's a classic deliciousness, but the excellent meat quality stands out and makes it incredibly delicious! The tonkatsu on the edge has a good amount of fat and goes well with rice! And the curry roux. It is said to be the chef's special curry, but it looks completely black. When I tried it cautiously, it had a mild hotel curry-like flavor, and it contained a lot of meat. However, I didn't understand what caused this black color. *I think it might be bamboo charcoal or something*. I also tried the curry roux with rice, and it was delicious, and it was also delicious to dip the tonkatsu in the sauce. The extra rice was gone in no time. The miso soup I had in between also had a good amount of pork and was delicious, and when I tried to eat the cabbage later and put truffle dressing on it, it was incredibly delicious! Finally, I finished with Fukujinzuke. By the way, I also tasted the black pork thick-cut rib loin katsu set meal that my companion ordered, and it had a moderate amount of fat and was very delicious!
