I finally decided to visit a long-established Western-style restaurant that had been on my mind, just before lunchtime on a weekday! Since it was still before noon, there were no other customers. The restaurant has an open kitchen, so sitting at the counter allows you to watch the cooking process, which is quite enjoyable. There are a few small table seats along the wall, but if you're dining alone, the counter seems like a good choice. I looked through the lunch menu and decided to order the hamburger steak lunch because I was curious about the demi-glace sauce typically served at Western-style restaurants. Based on the reviews, the B lunch set seemed like a good deal, but I stuck with my choice. The sizzling hot hamburger steak on the iron plate at the Western-style restaurant looked incredibly delicious, and I was sure that it would live up to expectations. About 5 minutes after ordering, the appetizing smell of the Western-style restaurant started to waft through the air. It's hard to describe the smell, but I can only say it's the smell of a Western-style restaurant, unfortunately. After a short wait, the rice, salad, and hamburger steak arrived in that order. I didn't check the set contents when I ordered, but it seemed that rice and salad were included. I have a strange challenge of trying to take photos that stimulate the appetites of those who read reviews, but I was so hungry that I started eating without checking the photos I took. Therefore, the photo of the salad was too disappointing... The hamburger steak was juicy, but not the meaty type. The demi-glace sauce, as the name suggests, had a strong tomato flavor but was a bit light in taste. It lacked richness and depth. I think this type of demi-glace sauce is common in Kitakyushu, so there may not be many places with a richer sauce. If there are any, I'd love to know, so please tell me if you know any (seriously). My companion, who is from Fukuoka, seemed to like this type of demi-glace sauce. I guess it's a matter of personal preference. The side dishes included one piece each of eggplant, potato, carrot, and two pieces of green beans, along with some pasta. The salad dressing was homemade and seemed to be based on apple and carrot, with a mild sweetness and not too much acidity. My companion's B lunch had a generous portion size with a variety of side dishes to enjoy, so if you want to try a variety of dishes, the B lunch is a good choice (*′ω′)b
