Continuing from the previous review, let's see who takes the 3rd place?!... It's Okayama Prefecture! A bit surprising. This time, it's Sateoki. We decided to visit "Asobi Kappo Kentaro" on a whim. The restaurant is within walking distance from the station, located in a slightly lively nightlife area with the Nankoku Building nearby. The atmosphere and concept of the restaurant may feel a bit different from its surroundings, but it is indeed a hidden gem in the area. The exterior gives off a casual vibe where you can enjoy Japanese cuisine. Inside, the main seating is at the counter, creating an intimate setting. The seating is close together, but the counter is lined with eye-catching ingredients, so it's not too bothersome. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many customers, making it easy for us to get a table. We ordered the following items:
- Assorted sashimi (2200 yen) - 7 types, 2 pieces each. The highlight was definitely the bonito, which was incredibly delicious with its rich marbling.
- Vinegared oysters (500 yen each) - Served with citrus, the oysters were fresh and flavorful.
- Deep-fried horse mackerel (900 yen) - A rare delicacy, each part of the fish had a different taste, making it a unique and enjoyable dish.
- Boiled cod milt (1200 yen) - Creamy and delicate, the cod milt melted in the mouth, providing a satisfying experience.
- Grilled young yellowtail (900 yen) - Cooked to perfection, the yellowtail had a nice texture and flavor, especially when paired with grated radish.
Overall, the restaurant offers high-quality Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price, allowing customers to enjoy a variety of dishes a la carte. The attentive service and the owner's genuine hospitality added to the dining experience. The pricing is fair, and you can enjoy a satisfying meal tailored to your preferences. It's a hidden gem in Kokura, and we highly recommend it. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
