Located in Fukuoka, where Western-style restaurants are scarce, this tonkatsu specialty shop is a rare find. It's a 10-minute walk from Tenjin, heading south from the Akasaka intersection. The lunch menu includes a variety of options such as the "Weekly Special Set" (935 yen), "Chami Tonkatsu Pork Loin/Fillet Set" (1,540/1,760 yen), and "Black Pork Loin/Fillet Set" (1,980/2,200 yen). They also offer menchi, chicken katsu, and katsu-don, covering a wide range of tonkatsu dishes. I ordered the "Chami Tonkatsu Pork Loin Set." The katsu was large and thick, about 1cm in thickness, with a crispy texture from the fine bread crumbs. The meat was cooked thoroughly, ensuring hygiene, but lacked juiciness. The sauce was slightly sweet and medium-bodied, providing a satisfying flavor. They also offer wasabi soy sauce, made with sweet and thick soy sauce from Kagoshima, which enhanced the taste. Rice refills are available for an additional charge, but they generously offered a discount by considering it as a "large serving" on the bill. It's within walking distance from Tenjin, so if you're craving tonkatsu, be sure to visit.

Order: Katsujuu (Pork cutlet on rice) Food review: This is a long-established tonkatsu specialty restaurant. Their specialty is the menu using Kagoshima black pork. Katsujuu is different from the usual katsudon, as it is topped with crispy tonkatsu on a bed of egg soaked in dashi broth. Delicious.

The restaurant is located an 8-minute walk from Fukuoka Akasaka Station, and was established in 1993. The katsu curry is popular for lunch. I ordered the summer limited edition "black" curry with pork cutlet. You can choose the type of cutlet you want. The curry is a spicy sauce base with beef and black pepper. It seems that the pork used is not a branded pork like black pork. The cutlet was crispy and firm. The curry is spicy but not too overpowering. There seems to be a disconnect between the cutlet and the curry.

I ordered the black pork loin as the special black pork was sold out. The taste was delicious, although it was a bit fatty. The person I was with ordered the fillet and said it was refreshing and tasty. The service was great, with the staff being mostly experienced and providing a pleasant experience.

I was lured in by the retro appearance and appetizing tonkatsu photos, and decided to dine in. The interior also exudes a retro atmosphere which feels nice. The place is well-maintained. I was curious about the Cha-Meaton tonkatsu, so I chose the premium Cha-Meaton tonkatsu! I started by trying it with salt. The meat was firm and light, not heavy on the fat. The breading was thick, and the filling was substantial, providing a satisfying bite. My companion ordered the premium Kurobuta tonkatsu, so I tried that too. The Kurobuta had a rich fat content, with a strong sweetness and tenderness. As someone who enjoys rich flavors, I preferred the Kurobuta. The fat paired well with salt. They also offered a Wasabi soy sauce upon request, which was fantastic. The sweetness of the fat combined with the sharp Wasabi soy sauce was a great match! The sauce provided was on the sweeter, fruity side. The meat was so delicious that I could easily enjoy it with just salt. Everyone around me was having the katsu curry, so I'll try that next time. Thank you for the meal! A retro and cozy tonkatsu restaurant with a focus on quality - Taishotei.

Basically, I don't often come to this kind of restaurant where lunch costs over 1,000 yen, but today I had a reason to be in this area. Before entering, I was planning to choose between the 1,045 yen chicken katsu or menchi katsu, but I decided to go for the tonkatsu since I was here and ordered the weekly special lunch "Cha-mi pork with black vinegar sauce" for 1,045 yen. I don't usually eat tonkatsu with sweet vinegar sauce, but having it with the sauce made it less greasy and easier to eat. I used to think tonkatsu was only good with sauce, but through trying different things, I realized that tonkatsu with salt can also be surprisingly delicious. Trying different options can be a learning experience.

The Hirakatsu and Oyster Fry set meal was around 1980 yen, I think? The hirakatsu had tender meat and was light, so it went well with salt. I enjoyed the cabbage with sauce on top. The oyster fry with tartar sauce was delicious and tasty. It was a satisfying meal with a good portion size.

I ordered the Akasaka Shige (pork cutlet bowl with thick slices of black pork) in large size! The thickness of the cutlet was just right! The way they put the egg on top was unique! After trying it, I feel like it's not necessary to separate the cutlet and the egg! The flavor of the broth seems to seep into the cutlet more when the egg is on top, bringing out the umami taste of the cutlet! The taste was great, but that was the only thing that bothered me a bit! Overall, I'm satisfied with the taste!! Thank you for the meal!

I had curry again at a restaurant known for its delicious tonkatsu. I had tonkatsu curry, while my daughter had chicken katsu curry. Both the tonkatsu and chicken katsu were crispy, juicy, and paired perfectly with the flavorful curry. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

After getting vaccinated with the coronavirus vaccine, I injected some energy at a highly rated Western-style restaurant. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was great, and the other customers around me were all enjoying their meals, which was very promising. When the tonkatsu set meal was brought to me, it looked really delicious. The breading was crispy, and the meat was tender and tasty.

Fukuoka: A shop located in Akasaka, Chuo Ward. I wanted to go to a certain shop but it was closed, this happened three times in a row that day. I started wandering around Watanabe Street and before I knew it, I had walked all the way to Akasaka. Finally, I found a place to eat! I was a little hungry, but the food was so delicious!! They use good quality pork. It didn't fill me up completely, but it satisfied me well. [Budget] 2000-3000 yen [Ordered menu] - Special selected Chami pork cutlet rice bowl: 1320 yen - Large serving: 100 yen

A slightly upscale tonkatsu from a long-established restaurant! While tonkatsu can be found at many affordable places nowadays, this restaurant offers a luxurious and calming atmosphere. The sweetness of the fat and the richness of the meat are very strong, and the crispy coating is perfect. When eaten with salted wasabi or wasabi soy sauce, you can fully appreciate the flavor of the thick-cut meat, which is incredibly delicious. However, the sauce at this restaurant is truly delicious. It balances out the heaviness of the fat and makes the rice incredibly easy to eat. I struggled to decide how to savor the last bite and ended up choosing the sauce! Thank you for the delicious meal.

This shop has been around for a long time (^-^) The cost performance is good and, most importantly, the tonkatsu is delicious♫ The sweetness of the pork fat is irresistible (*^^*) It tastes even better when eaten with salt^_^ And the sauce! It really enhances the flavor♫ I ate it in the order of cabbage, tonkatsu, and rice to give my stomach a break (*^^*) I would like to try their curry next time! I noticed that they also offer takeout, and their bento boxes seem quite reasonable. I will try ordering a bento box next time♫

Daishotei is famous for its tonkatsu, but this time I ordered the katsu curry because it was recommended in a curry magazine. It had the typical taste of a Western-style restaurant's katsu curry. It's a bit pricey, but the taste is safe and easy to eat.

I visited the restaurant alone on Saturday at 18:40. The place was about 40% full when I arrived, so I sat at a table for four. I ordered the Hire (pork fillet) and Kaki Fry (oyster fry) set meal for 1980 yen (tax included). While waiting for my meal, the restaurant quickly filled up, both at the counter and the tables. It took about 10 minutes for my food to arrive. First, I had a miso soup with tofu and seaweed, which was surprisingly light and not too salty. The rice, made with Kagoshima rice, was just the right texture and had a nice sweetness and umami flavor. The pickles were also very good, and I ended up getting a second serving of rice. The shredded cabbage was fresh and crunchy, perfect with Worcestershire sauce. The side dish of sesame-dressed spring chrysanthemum was slightly bitter but decent. The Kaki Fry was satisfyingly large and flavorful, and both the tartar sauce and salt complemented it well. The Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) wasn't as tender as expected for a fillet, but it was juicy and delicious with just a sprinkle of salt. Overall, the food at Taishotei was amazing for the price, and it's definitely one of the top pork cutlet places in Fukuoka in my opinion. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for the meal!

In terms of taste, atmosphere, and service, there was nothing to complain about. Taste: I ordered the pork cutlet and oyster fry set meal (tax included 1650 yen), and the oyster fry had three large pieces, very generous in portion. The frying was perfect, and it was incredibly delicious. The pork cutlet was so tasty that I originally planned to eat the last piece with sauce, but ended up enjoying it with just salt until the end. For an additional 275 yen, you can switch the miso soup to pork soup, which was also full of ingredients and satisfying. Every detail was perfect, even the tartar sauce served with the oyster fry was delicious, I found myself scooping up the sauce with my chopsticks even after finishing the oysters (laughs). Atmosphere: I sat at the counter, and the space for one person was spacious, allowing me to enjoy my meal in a relaxed mood. The table seats were also comfortably arranged with plenty of space. The dim lighting was a plus for me, it made me feel like having a beer (laughs. It makes me want to drink when it's dark). Service: There was no inconsistency in the customer service attitude, and all the staff members had a pleasant smile. I happened to sit near the back of the restaurant, and I overheard the kitchen staff talking, but there was no private conversation, and the bright and friendly atmosphere among the staff members showed their teamwork and trust. Recently, I've encountered disappointing situations where staff members would chat in front of customers, lacking professionalism, so I was truly impressed by the staff's responses and the positive atmosphere they created. With many tonkatsu restaurants being pricey, having this level of satisfaction for under 2000 yen, I will definitely choose this restaurant whenever I crave tonkatsu. It's also conveniently close to my home, so I'll definitely be visiting often. Thank you for the meal!

During the late Meiji period to the early Taisho period, "tonkatsu" was created by transforming the popular "pork cutlet" fried in oil. It is said that this transformation was pioneered by "Pontamoteya" in Ueno, Tokyo. By the Showa period, tonkatsu had become widely accepted as a popular dish among the common people. In Fukuoka, it was hard to find a tonkatsu restaurant that could be called an "established store." However, near Taisho Street, I discovered the relatively historic "Taishotei" and decided to visit. The atmosphere of the restaurant evokes the romance of the Taisho era, with a large central table surrounded by smaller tables, allowing solo diners to feel comfortable. Despite being tempted by the seasonal "Katsu Nabe Set Meal," I opted for the "Akasaka Ju," a tonkatsu dish featuring black pork loin. The meat was not too thick, but had a fine texture, juiciness, and a pleasant sweetness. The emphasis on not stewing the meat and maintaining the crispy texture of the breadcrumbs in the presentation of the dish was impressive. I chose to have miso soup replaced with tonjiru, a pork soup with a variety of ingredients like daikon, carrots, taro, burdock root, and konjac. Along with the aroma of yuzu shichimi on the table, it was a delicious meal. The service staff was energetic, attentive, and their lovely smiles left a lasting impression.

This is a black pork cutlet specialty shop called "Taishotei" in Akasaka, loved for 30 years. I always eat black pork and Chami pork cutlets, but this time I had the pork cutlet curry. The Chami pork cutlet was also very delicious, with a rich curry sauce and a moderate amount of ingredients. I thought this shop is delicious no matter what you eat. They are open for lunch until 3:00 PM, so it's easy to visit. - Pork Cutlet Curry: 1,100 yen - Restaurant Information: - Name: Taishotei - Hours: 11:00-15:00, 17:00-20:30 - Phone: 092-732-7711 - Closed: Sundays, holidays - Private rooms: None - Location: 1-3-1 Akasaka, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka, Akasaka Piere 1F

I felt like eating curry, so I visited (a tonkatsu restaurant). I had Chicken Katsu Curry and Menchi Katsu Curry. The Chicken Katsu was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The Menchi Katsu was juicy and delicious. The curry was mild in spiciness and not too spicy. It felt like a delicious version of homemade curry. It was tasty. Thank you for the meal.

Since visiting the restaurant a few times when it first opened, I finally returned after a long absence. I ordered the premium black pork loin cutlet set meal with extra rice for 2,310 yen. The batter is thin so it may peel off slightly, but it is soft, tender, and has a good texture. The tonkatsu sauce is sweet, so adding Worcestershire sauce gives it just the right balance. The cabbage is finely shredded, making it easy to eat. There are many senior customers and regulars. I would like to try something other than tonkatsu next time.

This is Kurobuta Katsuretsu Taishotei in Akasaka, Chuo-ku, founded in 1993 ☺️ Today, instead of tonkatsu, I had the Akasaka Juu Kurobuta Rosu Katsu Juu for 1760 yen. The sweet and savory sauce goes well with the katsu and the rice is very appetizing. Next time, I'll try the Demi-Glace Katsuretsu Teishoku! Thank you for the delicious meal.
