The next morning, I stayed overnight for my flight at Haneda Airport and for the first time, I got off at Aomono-Yokocho Station! This was my third stop of the day, and I ended with a five-ingredient thick sauce ramen! #AomonoYokocho #ChineseCuisine #Ramen #Hidakaya #AomonoYokochoBranch #FiveIngredientThickSauceRamen #LemonSour

Yesterday, I missed out on eating Mapo Don at King Shou, so today I'm seeking revenge for lunch. I went into the Nichihiya Aomono Yokocho branch and checked the menu, but there was no Mapo Don here either. They also didn't have Mapo Tofu as a standalone dish, so I couldn't even go for the option of ordering it separately with rice. When will I finally get to eat Mapo Don? If they don't have Mapo Don or Mapo Tofu, I should have just gone for the curry at Nichihiya from the start. I ended up ordering the Tan Tan Men and half a Cha Han set. Both the Cha Han and the Tan Tan Men were delicious, but my mind has been fixated on Mapo Don since yesterday.

There is a Hidakaya near Aomono Yokocho Station. Hidakaya is a chain restaurant, but I feel that there is more variation in the quality of their stores compared to a certain gyoza chain. Of course, Gyoza no Ohsho is out of the question due to the excessive discretion of each store. This was my first time at this particular Hidakaya so I'm not sure about their quality. I ordered gyoza, fried chicken, and a highball. The highball arrived quickly. It was strong but lacked carbonation. However, I had to wait quite a while for anything else to arrive. The gyoza had burnt bits from improper cleaning of the grill, making it bitter and not very tasty. I hope they improve their cleaning methods. The fried chicken seemed to be frozen and was not as tasty as expected. The breading was thick and the meat was lacking. Additionally, the cabbage side dish was not shredded properly, and the pieces were too small. It seemed like they were machine-cut, so I wish they would do a better job. Overall, there weren't many good points. Actually, ★☆☆☆☆

[80th meal of 2022] After finishing work at telework late at night, I headed towards the station in search of dinner. Various shops were starting to close. I wonder what I should have. As I walked, I saw a sign for Chige Miso Ramen at Nichihiyaya. Let's go with that. So, I entered the restaurant and sat at the third counter seat from the entrance. Quite a few customers were there. Some groups of people were having a good time drinking. A drink after work, it's nice. So, I ordered: Chige Miso Ramen 670 yen, Gyoza (3 pieces) 140 yen, Highball 310 yen. The Highball arrived quickly. It's strong, but I can't drink much on an empty stomach, so I took small sips. About 3 minutes later, the ramen and gyoza arrived. The ramen is always piping hot. Hot ramen is the best, right? Eating ramen makes you feel like you're really having a meal. The noodles are medium thick and curly. The soup has a manageable level of spiciness, but it's just so hot! The beaten egg is hot too! The cabbage is hot too! I eat the noodles, toppings, and soup together. Mmm, it's so delicious! Today, I ordered 3 gyoza for some reason. The gyoza is also piping hot. It's nice to be able to eat them for 140 yen when you feel like it. I eat gyoza, drink Highball, eat ramen, drink Highball. It's a blissful moment. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. I'll come back again!

【76th cup in 2022】A slightly late lunch. I went to this restaurant. Even at this time, it's almost full. Very busy, isn't it? There were two empty seats at the counter, so I sat at the closer one. I ordered the Spicy and Sour Mushroom Soup Noodles with Gyoza set for 910 yen, which is a limited-time offer. It arrived in about 2 minutes! So fast, it's amazing! The steam was already rising from the ramen. Looks hot. Looks good. Let's dig in. The noodles are slightly curly, maybe straight, and medium thickness. Hot. Just as expected! I believe that ramen tastes better just by being hot, and it's delicious. The soup has more sourness than spiciness. Just the right amount of sourness. There were some mushrooms in it too. Six gyoza. Normally 250 yen, but it becomes 240 yen as a set. I wish there was a bit more of a discount, but for this quantity and taste, 240 yen is a great deal. The restaurant got full while I was eating, and there were people waiting. It's very popular. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will come again. Next time, I want to try the Miso Ramen with Kimchi flavor or the Ramen with Simmered Giblets.

I took a stroll along the old Tokaido road (from Omorikaigan to Shinagawa) for lunch today. I participated in the Tokai Seven Lucky Gods pilgrimage, starting at Iwai Shrine near Omorikaigan Station (Benzaiten), then visited Tenso Suwa Shrine (Fukurokuju) and Shinagawa Temple (Bishamonten) before walking through the shopping street along the old Tokaido road. However, I couldn't find any open restaurants for lunch. It seemed like maybe they weren't making enough profit to stay open. So, I decided to head towards Aomono-yokocho Station and found a restaurant called "Hidakaya Aomono-yokocho" on the way. I arrived at 1:40 pm on New Year's Day. The restaurant was quite busy, with the ground floor being the only area open for service. I was seated at a counter near the entrance by a female staff member. The menu had various set meal options, and since I was hungry, I chose the "Vegetable Ramen + Half Fried Rice + Gyoza Set" option. The meal was served promptly, and I enjoyed the vegetable ramen, which was flavorful with a generous amount of vegetables. The fried rice was moist and the gyoza was delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal at "Hidakaya."

I wanted to try out a new restaurant, and I was drawn in by a poster advertising a special offer for gyoza at Nichihiya until 10/31, priced at 155 yen (excluding tax) instead of the usual 210 yen. I ordered a highball to drink, and it was on the stronger side, which I enjoyed. I was surprised when the first dish to arrive was actually the Gomoku Ankake Yakisoba, not the gyoza. I like to pour lots of vinegar on it. The newly revamped gyoza was priced at 155 yen (excluding tax), which I found to be quite cheap. The skin seemed to have become more chewy. I also ordered spring rolls. I think I had about 3 drinks. All of this came out to only 1,500 yen per person, which was very wallet-friendly and much appreciated.

I had a late dinner at around 11:30 PM and was really tired, so I didn't feel like walking much and decided to go to a nearby restaurant called Hidakaya. I ordered tantanmen, gyoza, half ramen, fried rice, fried chicken, and tonkotsu ramen. Everything was delicious, but I thought the tantanmen could have been a bit spicier. My favorites were the fried rice and gyoza. Thank you for the meal.

When coming to Tokyo on a business trip, the evenings are precious time to meet various people, but sometimes I also like to have some time alone. This time, I wanted to get back to the hotel quickly, so I had dinner at a nearby "Hidakaya". It's really cheap, especially for the Kanto area. This time, I had the gyoza set meal. It's a very simple set meal. The taste of the gyoza is decent, it's enough for me. I can't help but compare it to the gyoza at Osho, so I feel a bit unsatisfied, but if you don't know Osho, you would be quite satisfied with this. I finished my meal while thinking about such trivial things.

During my visit in May 2019, I had the Hoppy set for 370 yen, two refills of Vodka (medium) for 210 yen each, 6 gyoza for 230 yen, and isobe-age chikuwa for 220 yen. After finishing work in the neighborhood, I replenished my fluids with colleagues here. Thanks for your hard work~ Having Hidakaya nearby is really convenient for both food and drinks. Being able to drink Hoppy with gyoza is a big plus. It's great value for money, right? Unfortunately, the staff's motivation is lacking. Oh well, it's just for this time and place, right?

At the end of the drinking party, I decided to go with a simple bowl of Chuka Soba ramen. The menu had a variety of noodle options, but I chose the Chuka Soba with a light soy sauce broth, curly noodles, and toppings of char siu, bamboo shoots, green onions, and seaweed. It was only 390 yen, which is quite cheap. It was a delicious ramen that would be enjoyed by anyone.

The food at Chinatake was delicious, despite not being as flavorful as it looks. It's a good place for drinking, similar to an izakaya rather than a chain restaurant like Osho.

I took a break from exploring Chinese restaurants in the town and visited Hidakaya for the first time. I tried the fried rice and meat and vegetable stir-fry, which had a soy sauce-based Japanese-Chinese flavor. The fried rice was sufficiently delicious with a nice texture, and the egg was fluffy. The balance of flavors was good, and I felt that they were not inferior to the famous restaurants in the area. While it may not be unique, I understand why this cheap Chinese restaurant has managed to survive.

I wanted to eat vegetables for lunch, so I opted for the vegetable-packed tanmen. This menu is perfect for those who crave vegetables. The ramen was topped with plenty of vegetables - it was wonderful. The soup also had a sweet vegetable flavor, making it delicious. I enjoyed it while it was piping hot. Thank you for the meal.

Spicy miso ramen. The taste, presentation, and ingredients vary depending on the store. The Aomono Yokocho store serves it piping hot with plenty of ingredients, making it delicious. It seems to be popular among elderly regular customers.

I got off at Aomono Yokocho, where I usually pass by on the bus, and went to Hidaka-ya! I was tempted by the menu for Tenshinhan and ordered it. It was so delicious! A little spicy, which was perfect for the lingering summer heat.
