During my student days and when I was younger, I used to rely on family restaurants a lot. I think I also frequented them when my children were young, but now I hardly ever choose to go to one. I don't like anything about them anymore - the standardized store design, menu, staff trained by manuals, and ingredients supplied from a central kitchen. Family restaurants are convenient because you can easily spot their signs from afar, they are often not too crowded, and they have a larger seating capacity compared to individual restaurants, so even during busy times, you can usually get a table quickly. For those who appreciate the consistent service and reliability that anyone can enjoy anytime, family restaurants might seem appealing, but I find them bland and unappealing. I also tend to avoid chain izakayas for the same reasons. However, I recently visited a family restaurant that I had been to once when my child was a toddler. Back then, I had driven there, but now there was a sign at the building's parking lot indicating that there were no discounts or services for parking. Perhaps this was a response to the rising parking fees in the area, but I thought they could offer some sort of service like one hour free parking for a certain amount spent on food and drinks, similar to supermarkets. My daughter had a sports match at a nearby school, and this restaurant was the closest place for a meal within walking distance. With limited break time, I didn't have the luxury to choose, so I entered without hesitation during lunchtime. Luckily, I didn't have to wait at the entrance like some others who arrived later. My wife and daughter picked their favorite dishes, and I decided to have a bottled beer with some fried chicken, but when I saw that the hamburger was a blend of meats, I changed my order to curry instead. The beer arrived promptly, followed by the curry. I was worried about how I would drink the beer if the fried chicken came after the curry, but they brought the fried chicken first, which was thoughtful. Before I finished the beer, the curry was served. They must have been watching the timing. My wife didn't like the sunny-side-up egg topping on her dish, so I gladly accepted it and put it on top of my curry rice, creating a delicious special sunny-side-up curry. I enjoyed my meal, while next to me, a young lady was studying alone with her documents spread out. I sometimes wonder if it's okay to study for hours in a family restaurant when there are people waiting for seats. But there was a time in the past when I relied heavily on family restaurants and stayed for hours without being kicked out. Although I have no authority to say this, I hope everyone can use the restaurant conveniently without causing any inconvenience to the establishment. I filled my stomach deliciously within the limited time and left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal. In terms of image, I prefer Royal Host over other family restaurants. If the timing is right, I will visit again.
