I visited the Yoshinoya Otsuka store near Otsuka Ekimae Station on the Arakawa Line at around 8:00 pm on a certain day in January 2023. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the food was served. The Oshinko was a side dish mainly made of pickled cabbage, providing a nice salty contrast. The miso soup was a pleasant addition as well. The Gyusuki Don had a slightly sweet flavor, typical of Yoshinoya, but lacked a bit of depth. The tofu was tasty and soaked up the flavors well. Adding shichimi pepper and pickled ginger enhanced the dish, making it more enjoyable. The Oshinko had just the right amount of saltiness and paired well with the rice. The miso soup, although simple, complemented the meal nicely. Overall, the Gyusuki Don provided a different way to enjoy a beef bowl, breaking away from the usual routine. It was satisfying in terms of portion size, and although slightly pricier than other Yoshinoya dishes, it was still a good choice when looking for a change from the regular beef bowl.

The amount seemed small in the menu photo, so I also ordered natto for 88 yen (excluding tax). After eating, I felt satisfied, which should be enough for women. I usually eat more than the average woman, but I felt full after this meal. I think it's because the salad makes you chew more. However, soon after leaving the restaurant, I started feeling hungry again. It seems that carbohydrates are important for the immediate feeling of satisfaction after a meal. I resisted the urge to eat and the hunger eventually went away. This could be good for dieting.

The staff are all polite and friendly. Despite being busy with dine-in and takeout customers, the interior of the store, including the counter and visible kitchen, is clean and gives a sense of reassurance. I think this store is better than other Yoshinoya locations.

Sometimes, I feel like looking for a quick, cheap, and tasty meal. It's convenient to have a Yoshinoya nearby for those times. It is one of the chain stores that Japan can be proud of in the world. During the time of Corona, I often used takeout. I want kimchi and miso soup, but the most essential for me is raw egg. I think Japan is the only country where you can eat raw egg over rice worldwide. I think only professional wrestlers eat raw eggs in foreign countries. Gyudon + raw egg + kimchi + miso soup. If you eat this, you will be satisfied until your next meal.

I was watching a drama and suddenly had a craving for Yoshinoya's breakfast set (398 yen) and extra-large beef bowl (390 yen). In the breakfast set, you can choose between soft-boiled egg or raw egg, with miso soup on the side. I like mine with lots of sauce! My favorite part is when the rice gets all soaked at the end, like a porridge. Yum!

Yoshinoya, celebrating its 120th anniversary, had an event where the beef bowl regular size had a 120% increase in meat on January 24th, which is Beef Day. I visited Yoshinoya after a long time and was tempted to order a medium or large size, but I resisted and ordered the regular size with a salad and miso soup set, changing the miso soup to pork soup. I was a bit skeptical about the 120% increase in meat, but when the bowl arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was indeed larger. The cost performance was great. I didn't think they could actually increase the meat by 120% so easily, but it was impressive. I hadn't had a beef bowl in a long time, and my imagined taste had deteriorated, but when I tried it, it was surprisingly delicious. What I ordered: - Hoppy Black @400 yen - Medium size @200 yen - Chicken sukiyaki plate @350 yen - Mackerel miso stew @250 yen (usually @330 yen, special offer price) Upon entering the restaurant, I went upstairs for the "Yoshinomi" area. There is a counter on the left and table seats on the right. It's rare to see TVs on both sides, which is convenient for solo drinkers. It might be a good spot to watch big sports matches as well. I started with the black hoppy and also ordered the chicken sukiyaki plate and mackerel miso stew since they were on special offer. The appetizers for "Yoshinomi" were reasonably priced and had a good portion size. I leisurely enjoyed my drinks while watching TV. It's a comfortable place for solo drinkers, but they also have tables for group use, so it can be enjoyable for everyone. I had the impression that "Yoshinomi" is not available on weekends, but here you can enjoy it even on Saturdays and Sundays. It might be a good place for first-time "Yoshinomi" users. The staff, consisting of Japanese and Asian employees, created a nice atmosphere. It seems important for chain restaurants to maintain this kind of style in the future.
