Limited menu [Sweet Temptation] 4th challenge failed! The limited series is often sold out by early afternoon. When I asked the staff, they said occasionally there are some left. So, with a glimmer of hope, I headed to "Maisen" on the 12th floor of Daimaru Tokyo. Will the [Sweet Temptation] still be available? I put all my hopes on it... The Sweet Temptation special Rosukatsu set 130g (limited to 5 servings) and the Sweet Temptation Rosukatsu set 100g (limited to 10 servings). Please let there be some left! Either one is fine! Well, this is my 4th attempt, so I decided to go in. The place was clean, bright, and had a nice atmosphere. The background music was French easy listening. The staff were attentive and caring, just like mothers. They helped heal the disappointment of missing out on the limited items. I ordered the Kurobuta pork series for a soft landing: Kurobuta Rosukatsu set for 3500 yen (tax included) and Kurobuta Hirekatsu set for 3500 yen (tax included). Rice, cabbage, and miso soup were all-you-can-eat! Luckily, I had a coupon for a free glass of beer on weekdays. As soon as the food was served, I dug into the katsu. Wow, it was tender and delicious! The flavor of the black pork was distinct, and the special sauce with grated apple was a nice touch. I also enjoyed the spice salt provided on the table. The satisfaction from the meal made me temporarily forget about the limited items. I'll definitely come back again. Next time, I'll still hope for the limited items strongly while enjoying the delicious food.

3rd visit ★ 7.5 Black Pork Ginger Stir-fry Set 1750 yen As expected from Maisen, the meat quality is excellent. Thick and tender, with a good umami flavor. However, the sauce is too strong and punchy for my taste, I would prefer it to be more mild. The black pork katsu set costs 3500 yen, but the ginger stir-fry is half the price. Fantastic. ★ 7 Potato Salad Fluffy and airy. 2nd visit ★ 8 Fillet Bite-sized Katsu Set Soft and tender fillet, thick and crispy coating, high-quality katsu that leaves you satisfied. It may look like a small portion, but it's enough to fill you up. There are sofa seats in the back, which are much more comfortable than the counter and table seats in the front.

There is a tonkatsu restaurant in Daimaru Tokyo's restaurant area. On a weekday night, it is usually easy to enter, but it happened to be crowded this day. We had to wait for a few groups before we could get in. It seems like making a reservation would be a good idea. I ordered the Hire Katsu Oroshi for the first time. It was delicious.

I went to Daimaru at Tokyo Station for a quick and casual lunch. I felt like having tonkatsu out of the blue, haha. There was no wait, and the food was served quickly, which was very convenient, haha. I visited on December 19, 2022, and ordered the pork cutlet set. The breading was fried well, crispy and golden brown. Maybe I prefer crispy breading over fluffy ones. It's great that you can easily eat at Tokyo Station. Located on the 12th floor of Daimaru adjacent to Tokyo Station. It was a Sunday afternoon, so all the restaurants were crowded. I happened to pass by and saw that it was the second in line, so I decided to wait. There were counter seats and sofa seats, so many families were dining there. Although Mai Suien is known for its tonkatsu, I had only tried their takeout from the basement before, so this was my first time dining in the restaurant. I ordered the black pork fillet and oyster fry set meal, which came with rice, miso soup, and free refills of cabbage. You can also change the miso soup to tonjiru for an additional fee. When eating tonkatsu at a reasonably priced restaurant, I often find that the loin is tastier, but the fillet was indeed delicious. I realized that the type of pork is important. However, the batter was a bit thick and heavy. The oysters were large and tasted better when squeezed with lemon rather than with tartar sauce. Overall, it was a decent meal, but I personally prefer their tonkatsu sandwich from the basement.

On Saturday at 12:40 in the afternoon, we had to wait for one group ahead of us, but we were able to enter the restaurant in about 5 minutes. They kindly welcomed us even though we had a baby stroller, and the seats were spacious. While we were waiting, they asked us about the menu, and we ordered. As expected, the food at Mai Izumi was delicious and satisfying! The set meal had a high level of satisfaction! You can also get refills of cabbage, rice, and miso soup, which is great. We will definitely be going back regularly.

Mai Izumi's tonkatsu is sold in department store basements and train stations, and I usually get takeout so I can't eat it piping hot. The business was taken over by Suntory Holdings in 2008 due to lack of successors, but the taste has remained the same. The features of Mai Izumi's tonkatsu are its tenderness that can be cut with chopsticks, a crispy coating that spreads like a blooming flower called "sword standing," and four types of sauce: sweet, Worcestershire, for tonkatsu sandwiches, and for black pork. There are more foreign customers than domestic ones for some reason, and there are also restaurants where you can eat piping hot tonkatsu. This time, I had a piping hot meal at a restaurant in the 12th floor restaurant area of Daimaru Tokyo. I chose the "Chabidori Pork Loin Cutlet Set" made from pigs fed with feed containing tea components (catechin). The crispy and fluffy coating, along with the tender and light meat with fat, was easy to eat and delicious.

We had been talking with a friend about wanting to go to Maisen (Harajuku) after a long time. Since both of us often finish work late, we decided it would be difficult to go to the main store in Harajuku. So, we decided to meet up at the one in Daimaru Tokyo Station, which is easy to get to after work. There are many famous tonkatsu restaurants now, but even though the owner has changed, the taste here remains the same as before. We ordered the Okonomi Zen, black pork loin, and chicken karaage. Both my friend and I love the taste of the original sauce here, and we even put it on the cabbage. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I love Mai Izumi and visited the Daimaru Tokyo store for the first time. When I arrived around 6 pm on Saturday, there were already several people lined up, and I realized that it was indeed a popular restaurant. I usually order the Chami Buta loin cutlet set, but this time I ordered the seafood mix fry set, which was a seasonal menu and a good deal. The pork cutlet in the Chami Buta loin cutlet set is softer and more fatty, so I usually prefer that, but the shrimp fry and oyster fry in the seafood mix fry set were very delicious. The cabbage, which is free for refills, was also consistently delicious. Thank you for the meal! ✨

I visited the Aoyama main store for the first time in about 15 years. I chose the Set Meal of Chami Buta Hire Katsu for 1850 yen. The Chami Buta pork was new to me and I found it to be tender with a refined taste. The thick and crispy coating and the sweet sauce were delicious. The sauce comes in sweet and spicy options. This time, I went with my boss who was visiting from Hong Kong. It's interesting to try new restaurants chosen by foreigners as it can lead to unique discoveries. Chami Buta pork is a brand of pork from Kagoshima, raised on a diet that includes green tea catechins. It is known for its high-quality lean meat and mild flavor.

I've only been to Maisen once a long time ago. I've had their standard sandwich a few times. I always thought of it as a tonkatsu restaurant without any particular features, but I decided to try it out since I couldn't think of anything else to eat. The interior of the restaurant is a bit narrow as a tenant. The seating arrangement is rectangular and not very spacious. The tables and chairs are standard and the seating is close together. The service was okay, but not great. I ordered the black pork fillet cutlet, and it was delicious with a soft and fluffy texture. I thought it was good enough to eat anywhere, but according to my companion, the Hikarie Shibuya branch is even better. The set meal composition of rice, miso soup, and cabbage was a bit disappointing. The quality of the meat was good, but the portion size seemed a bit small, and the value for money might be a bit tough.

The tonkatsu sandwich from Mai Izumi is a popular catering item that I often buy or receive, but eating at the tonkatsu restaurant itself is a first for me. It feels fresh! Looking at the menu, you can choose between the "expensive black pork" and the "affordable tea beauty pork" for tonkatsu, with options for loin and fillet. The pork brand names are cute puns, like the "tea beauty pork" which sounds like LV (beauty pork). I ordered the Tea Beauty Pork Fillet Cutlet Set (1,850 yen) and upgraded the miso soup to black pork soup for an additional 140 yen. Since lunchtime had ended, the prices felt a bit high. My partner ordered the seasonal set menu (asparagus) which was still in the 2,000 yen range, feeling slightly more affordable. Rice, miso soup, and cabbage are refillable. The breading is crispy, and the meat is tender. However, it lacks the juicy sensation and is quite mild in flavor. Personally, I feel like it's the same thickness as the tonkatsu sandwich. If eaten as tonkatsu, I would prefer the meat to be thicker for a more satisfying experience. Nonetheless, it's easy to eat. There is a sweet sauce on the table, and you can also request a spicy sauce. I tried both, but I definitely prefer the sweet sauce. My brain naturally associates "Mai Izumi" with this sweet sauce taste! It enhances the tonkatsu sandwich to an addictive level. So, let's have more cabbage and enjoy it with the sauce. It adds a touch of luxury. The pork soup and miso soup were both delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Recommended lunch option B is 1500 yen, with 2 Hiroshima oyster fry, pork cutlet, miso soup, pickles, unlimited cabbage and rice refills. I initially checked out the Maishin at Tokyo Station's Gransta store, but since it was mostly counter seating, I moved to the Daimaru store instead. The sweet sauce has a sesame fragrance and is delicious, and the spicy sauce is also good. The cutlet is crispy, the meat is tender, and it's consistently delicious.

When it comes to Tonkatsu Maihama, the must-try dish is the Hire Katsu sandwich. This time, I visited the restaurant at Daimaru in Tokyo Station. [Restaurant] As it is a restaurant in Daimaru, it can get crowded during lunchtime. The interior has both table and counter seats. [Dishes] This time, I tried the Hiroshima Prefecture Oyster Fry & Black Pork Tonkatsu Set (tax included 2,200 yen), which was recommended for October. You can choose between loin and fillet. If you choose the premium pork set, the price goes over 3,000 yen. Of course, both the taste and portion size were satisfying. What surprised me the most was not just the crispy coating, but also how it crumbled softly in your mouth. In many tonkatsu restaurants, the coating can be too sharp and leave your mouth feeling torn up, but Maihama is completely different. It was easy to eat and truly impressive. I realized that there was no need to hurt your mouth with the coating for the sake of taste. Since there are no Maihama restaurants near my local area, opportunities to visit may be rare, but I would like to challenge different dishes next time. The mixed fry set that other customers were eating also looked delicious.

For lunch, I was taken to Daimaru and we wandered around before ending up at Maiizumi. I often buy their sandwiches when I go on mini trips by Shinkansen, but this was my first time actually dining in the restaurant. When we sat down at the table, I saw a sign that said "Lunch Beer" which sounded lovely, so I decided to have a drink while my companion did not. Having alcohol during the day always makes me feel special. For food, I had the limited 20 servings only Hirekatsu, while my companion had Katsudon. Both dishes came with unlimited cabbage and rice. The breading was light, crispy, and delicious. The only thing I wished for was that they also had a spicy sauce option, as the only one available was sweet.

I splurged a little and got the black pork loin cutlet set meal! I added an option for one oyster fry. The meat was thick and juicy! The juices were sweet, typical of black pork, which was good! The oyster fry was delicious too! The cabbage, rice, and miso soup are free for refills, but I was so satisfied that I could only have seconds of cabbage, haha.

I wanted to eat tonkatsu from Maisen, so I did some research before going. When I arrived, I found various recommended and cost-effective menu items on site (lol). I chose the limited edition bowl at Daimaru with sweet sauce, a special sauce for black pork, and the bowl included fillet cutlet, scallop, 2 shrimp fries, and oysters. It was the best bowl, and for an additional 140 yen, I changed the miso soup to tonjiru (pork soup), which was delicious.

I suddenly felt like eating tonkatsu, so I came here after work. Due to the influence of Corona, there were some menu items not available. However, since I was specifically looking for the pork loin tonkatsu, it was not a problem. I ordered a combination of pork loin tonkatsu and oyster fry, along with Mai Senn's long-time favorite, crab and cucumber salad in a half size. The cabbage and rice are free for refills. The rice was glossy and delicious, the cabbage was crunchy, and the seasoning of the side dishes was just right. Even though they are supporting roles, the cabbage, rice, miso soup, and side dishes were all made with care, and that's a good feeling. Even if it's a bit pricey, I feel like coming back. The crab and cucumber salad, despite being a cucumber salad, was not watery at all and was delicious. The pork loin was made with black pork, and it was meaty and delicious. The tartar sauce for the oyster fry was creamy, but the acidity helped balance the flavors, making it enjoyable to eat. The staff members had lovely smiles. Thank you for the meal.

Lunchtime at work♪ I saw "Mai Izumi" on the guide board in Daimaru's restaurant area, so I quickly went up to the 12th floor. Since my time was a bit off, I was seated right away. I only have an hour for lunch at work, and I've already spent 15 minutes traveling, so I'm in a hurry. I ordered the limited tonkatsu set for ¥1000 with an 80g pork loin and added shrimp fry for ¥509. The set came with unlimited rice, miso soup, and cabbage. The sauce options were sweet and spicy. The sweet sauce was thick and the spicy sauce was light. The crispy coating on the tonkatsu was delicious, and I had a second helping of rice. I wish I had time to get a second helping of cabbage too. Let's enjoy a delicious lunch and do our best for the afternoon work! Thank you for the meal.

I used it for the last lunch of work in 2019. I thought it would be crowded at the end of the year, so I went at 11 o'clock, but it was empty. Chabitoshi pork, fillet cutlet set meal, 1780 yen. Sweet temptation, hand-kneaded minced cutlet with cheese, 500 yen. Sweet Temptation, an original brand here, is highly recommended. Although the price is a bit high, it is very popular as it is limited to a certain quantity per day. It was served in less than 15 minutes. The fillet cutlet was soft and delicious. The minced cutlet was also filled with cheese, but there was too much cheese that the taste of the meat was unclear. The rice was consistently good. I would like to visit again.
