A divisive flavor profile. The seasoning is quite light, with a unique aroma on the skin that resembles coconut. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of coconut. However, this pork bun was elegant and guilt-free to devour. Thank you for the meal.

Chicken and Chinese cabbage bun (230) and pork bun (190) have a smooth surface with a dense and satisfying texture. The buns are moist, slightly sweet, and delicious. The filling is juicy, dense, and meaty.

The taste of the pork bun that the owner researched in Taiwan because he loves it so much was amazing. When you bite into it, the meat juice overflows, making it delicious. There are 2 tables for eating in, and the operation is handled by 2 people, mainly focusing on takeout. It's great that the buns are served hot. They also offer nationwide delivery, so it's a place you want to share with others. It may be a bit difficult to find this place unless you search for it specifically, but it's a great restaurant where you can feel the passion of the owner.

I saw on the food log of someone I follow that my favorite steamed buns were being sold. ~Items purchased~ ■ Steamed bun for 100 yen ■ Pork steamed bun for 190 yen There is no filling inside, so there is no specific taste of filling. However, as you continue to chew the dough, you can feel the sweetness of the ingredients. The simple taste is delicious. Since there is no filling, you can also spread jam or other toppings on it. The pork steamed bun has a good meat flavor and the seasoning of the ingredients is delicious.

In September, I revisited the Sugamo area in Tokyo for the first time in a while. The pork buns here have seasonal menu options that showcase a high level of originality and potential. As we enter the fall and winter seasons, I look forward to revisiting this restaurant. This is about ButamanZ in the Sugamo area. Here are my reviews of the three items I tried:
- Sansho Pepper Pork Bun (230 yen): Rating 3.7. A limited-time menu item that came out quickly, possibly pre-steamed. The filling was a bit too sweet, and there was a slight issue with a crack in the bun. However, the bun had a nice aroma of sansho pepper and tasted delicious. The originality in the development of this pork bun was impressive.
- Sesame Miso Spicy Pork Bun (230 yen): Rating 3.5. This item also came out quickly, possibly pre-steamed. The bun had a nice flavor with a hint of spice from the sesame miso. Despite some issues with the filling leaking, the bun was juicy and flavorful.
- Curry Pork Bun (230 yen): Rating 3.6. This item required some time to steam, but it was still warm when I got home. The bun had a nice appearance and the curry aroma was pleasant. The texture of the bun was great, and the curry flavor in the filling was well-balanced. Overall, this pork bun was well-made and tasty.
In conclusion, the Sansho Pepper bun stood out with a rating of 3.7 for its unique flavor. Despite some minor issues with the filling in the other buns, the overall quality and originality of the buns were impressive. The owner of the shop was friendly, and I look forward to visiting again. It was a delicious meal, thank you.

Jizo Street, opposite the Seven Eleven, I found this place when I was wandering around drunk the other day. It was closed at that time, so I decided to revisit another day. I ordered a Qingdao beer to go with my meal. Qingdao beer is so delicious and refreshing. Some experts say it's better not to chill it too much, but I personally love it when it's almost frozen. The steamed pork bun I ordered was delicious. When I split it open, I found chunks of meat inside with the meat juice separated. The taste was great, but I wish the skin, filling, and meat juice were more integrated. I once bought an expensive Chinese bun in Chinatown, and when I split it open, the filling spilled out, so I was reminded of that situation. You can also enjoy your meal in the eat-in area next to the store while sipping on your beer. Overall, it was a great experience. Thank you for the meal.

I am from Kansai, and when it comes to pork buns, I always think of 551! So when I saw pork buns for the first time in a while in Kanto, I couldn't help but stop by. The message on the shop's sign conveyed a sense of putting one's life into pork buns, and I felt compelled to support them. As for the pork bun itself, the dough was light and fluffy, while the filling was hearty with chunky pieces of meat that released a delicious flavor as I chewed. It's a takeout style, but there's a bench available to sit and eat, which makes it convenient. The bag containing the pork bun had a cute message on it.

Located about a 5-minute walk from the front entrance of Sugamo Station on the JR Yamanote Line, on the first floor of an apartment a little down Sugamo Jizo Street. While strolling along Sugamo Jizo Street, I saw a sign and decided to check it out. It seems to be run by a young man by himself. The menu is simple, offering pork buns, red bean buns, and drinks only. There are chairs available for customers to sit and enjoy their meal on the spot. I purchased a pork bun (¥190). The piping hot pork bun was handed to me along with a wet towel. It was palm-sized, similar to the Chinese buns found in convenience stores. The sweet dough encased a firm ball of filling, with plenty of oil at the bottom. The pork buns are made with carefully selected ingredients from Taiwan. Takeout options are also available.

[Visit Summary]
In the Sugamo Jizo-dori shopping street, I came across a sign while walking. There is a shop at the end of a dark side street off the main street. It's a shop called "Butaman." The sign mentions that the owner loves Butaman and has tried it all over Taiwan. I decided to try their Butaman. It was unique in terms of the dough and filling, and I found it quite enjoyable. The customer service was thoughtful, even providing a wet towel. I plan to try their Anman next time.
[At the shop]
The shop is run by a man alone, perhaps the owner mentioned on the sign? As a fellow Butaman lover, I hope he does well. I bought one Butaman to take home.
[Tasting]
- Butaman @ 190 yen: The appearance was a white dough with a solid texture. Breaking it open, the dough was chewy with a slight sweetness, a good bite without being too tough. The filling seemed well-packed. The meat could have been a bit more tender after steaming, but overall, the balance of rich filling and slightly sweet dough was enjoyable.
[Closing]
The staff was friendly, offering a wet towel as a nice touch. The sign saying "wrapping up one's life" was intriguing. As a Butaman enthusiast, I hope Butaman spreads further. I'll be silently cheering them on. With best wishes, thank you for the meal. ('◇')ゞ

I ordered 3 items for takeout. I really love the meat buns from 551, but the ones here have a soft and fluffy skin compared to the strong and rough skin of 551, making them delicious as steamed buns. The meat filling is also deliciously simple, with a hint of garlic unlike the juicy filling overflowing from 551. It seems like you can just heat them up and eat, so I should have bought 5. I want to go back when I come to Sugamo.

It's just delicious. Not mind-blowing, but tastier than convenience store options. The pork buns are 190 yen each. They also have different types of curry. There are seats available for dining in.

Pork bun, curry bun, red bean bun for 590 yen. They are slightly smaller compared to convenience store versions, but they have a satisfying weight to them. The skin is soft but has a firm elasticity, different from the typical ones that become hard when chewed. It has a subtle sweetness and delicious skin. The filling of the pork bun is a firm meatball-like texture, not overflowing with juices, but with a solid meaty texture that releases flavor as you chew. It's not too fatty, so the taste is rich yet refreshing. The curry bun is like the pork bun but with curry spread inside. The red bean bun has black sesame paste filling, but personally, I would prefer a bit more punch in the flavor. Overall, it was delicious.

After a long time, I had Butamanz. This time, I bought Butaman and a limited edition item, Ruro Butaman. Even though it had been a while, they were still juicy and delicious. The Ruro Butaman had a good shiitake mushroom flavor, and I could taste a Chinese-like taste in my mouth. Both were delicious.

Located about a 7-minute walk from Sugamo Station North Exit on the JR Yamanote Line, "Butaman Z" is a pork bun shop. It's been on my mind for a while, and I finally got to go there. You can find it by entering the Sugamo Jizo-dori shopping street, taking a left, and walking a bit. They offer a variety of pork buns such as black sesame anman, kubotaman (2 pieces), curry butaman, tomato butaman, coarse-ground shumai, mantou, and black sugar mantou, along with beer and juice. While mainly for takeout, there are benches and chairs next to the shop where you can eat on the spot. This time, I decided to try the curry butaman instead of the classic pork bun. The freshly steamed curry butaman was delicious as expected. The dough was soft and fluffy, and the filling was packed with flavor. I wish I had visited sooner. The shop's noren, signboard, and paper design are cute, and I might go back again!
