I felt like eating Gyudon so I went to Sukiya. I usually order Gyudon but this time I decided to go for curry. I ordered the double meat beef curry in large size for 1060 yen. When it arrived, I was surprised. The rice and curry were overflowing and it looked like a lot to eat. The curry was sweet but had a hint of spiciness in the aftertaste. The beef was delicious as always and I managed to finish it all. It was tasty until the end. Thank you for the meal. I am full now.

For lunch, I decided to have beef bowl at Sukiya. I ordered using a tablet, and despite the variety of colorful options on the menu, I chose the beef bowl without hesitation. There were different sizes available, and the medium size with less rice and 1.5 times the meat portion caught my eye. The photo shows the dish as it is, but I like to top it generously with shichimi pepper and pickled ginger. I should have taken a photo after adding the toppings!

Fried chicken 6 pieces (280 yen) + Large rice (190 yen) + Mini beef bowl (220 yen) I decided to try out the fried chicken from a beef bowl chain restaurant, following my positive experience with Yoshinoya's fried chicken. Nakau was a bit disappointing, and Matsuya ended up trying something different with their "oyl chicken" dish. So, I decided to give Sukiya a try, one of the three major beef bowl chains. Not all Sukiya locations offer fried chicken, so I checked their official website to find a store with a fryer, and headed to the one near the ward office in Oimachi. I ordered through Sukiya's official app, but due to their usual practice of operating with few staff during peak hours, my order wasn't ready when I arrived. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I finally got my food and hurried back home. The fried chicken comes in a paper bag, and I immediately took a bite. The chicken was crispy and crunchy, most likely double-fried. It had a light ginger soy flavor and a firm texture, with each piece weighing around 30g. Considering the price for 6 pieces, it was a good deal. The large rice was about 350g, and had a good texture for a donburi dish. I also ordered a mini beef bowl to complement the meal. The fried chicken was a great side dish, and the sweet flavor of the beef bowl added a nice touch. Overall, Sukiya's fried chicken was impressive, and I recommend trying it if you get the chance at a location that offers it.

On Saturday afternoon, I had some errands to run in Oimachi. So, I decided to visit "Sukiya Oimachi Ichome Store". As I entered the store, it had the typical Sukiya atmosphere. I sat at the counter and checked the menu on the touch panel. After some consideration, I chose the "Sukiyaki Bowl Regular" (680 yen) and added a "Salad Set" (170 yen). After placing my order, the awaited bowl arrived. I dug in right away. The taste was just like Sukiya, simply delicious. Next time, if I have the chance, I would like to try it in a more casual setting at night.

Gyudon with raw egg and miso soup for 540 yen. This place is easy to enter, ordering is simple, service is fast, and the restaurant is moderately empty. I have been coming here often recently. I always end up ordering miso soup. Today, I actually tried going to Yoshinoya across the street first, but even though I was standing at the ordering counter, no one came to take my order and the staff in the back seemed to notice but didn't acknowledge me, so I decided to come here instead. In that sense, I think I will be coming here more often.

I arrived at 8:30 pm and the restaurant was not crowded. I ordered the charcoal-grilled shredded chicken curry with pickled vegetables and miso soup set. It was convenient to be able to order a set meal at the counter. The food was served quickly after I ordered. The curry was not too sweet or spicy, and the chicken was tender. Considering the price of 690 yen, I think it was decent.

Beef short rib bowl with pickles set for 800 yen. It's a bit more expensive than regular beef bowls, but the sauce is decent, so it's not bad. When I want to keep it simple, I use this restaurant.

I ordered the Chicken Horohoro Curry with pickles set again this time, but I felt that it's not something you should eat in quick succession. The fast service is good, but it was around 6:30 pm and the restaurant was only half full.

At a chain beef bowl restaurant near the Tokyu guard underpass, before reaching the road towards the ward office from Oimachi Station, I stopped by for lunch and was seated at a table as the counter was full. I ordered a regular beef bowl for 350 yen and registered as a member using the QR code on the table, quickly getting a miso soup coupon worth 80 yen. Then, my beef bowl arrived. There were some white parts on the surface, but it was alright. I sprinkled plenty of shichimi pepper and turned it into a spicy version. The red color was light and gave it an elegant touch. The miso soup had fried tofu in it, which was quite nice. If they offer this as a complimentary service, it's not bad at all, in fact, it's good. I was quite happy with the regular size beef bowl.

I was already drunk... and yet for some reason, I found myself shopping as usual. I don't remember, but it seems like I bought some souvenirs in a good mood again. The target of the day was Sukiya! And as always at the beef bowl restaurant, I only bought a beef bowl! The next morning, "It looks like you bought something, so make sure to eat it!" Did I buy something again...? Thinking that, I reluctantly looked inside the Sukiya bag, and to my surprise, it wasn't a beef bowl? The item inside was something I had never seen before, a Grilled Pacific Saury Bowl (Regular): 580 yen. Why did I buy something like this? I don't remember from the beginning, but looking at the receipt, it seems to be a "limited-time product at Sukiya." I don't have much of an appetite in the morning, but since I bought it, let's try eating it. So, I'll heat it up well in the microwave! There is a quite large grilled Pacific saury fillet on top, almost covering the rice. The sauce poured generously is directly the flavor of the grilled saury! Sprinkling some sansho pepper and grated daikon, I tried it, and it turned out to be a very mild taste, making it easy to eat for those who find the sauce too strong! And I could taste a nice flavor even from the rice! When I flipped the saury, I saw that the rice was covered with plenty of chopped seaweed. The rice had absorbed the sauce from the grilled saury, making it delicious to eat! Compared to the beef bowl, the price is higher, but I think this is a recommended item! I would like to try it again at least once. *After eating the "Grilled Pacific Saury Bowl" in the morning, I had the "Grilled Pacific Saury" from the previous review in the evening. It seems that this day, full of Pacific saury dishes, notified me of the "arrival of autumn" (laughs).

I visited for the first time on January 29, 2016. I was seated at the counter and ordered the discounted beef bowl, miso soup, and pickles set for ¥490, which is available for a limited time. The food arrived in about 1 minute, very fast indeed. The beef bowl tasted as usual, but the miso soup was slightly lukewarm. Since it was raining and cold today, I wished the miso soup was hotter. It had various vegetables and a little pork in it, and the taste was delicious. The pickles consisted of cabbage and pickled vegetables, and the portion was good. I wished there was more pork in the miso soup and that it was hotter, but I guess it's not possible for ¥490. Thank you for the meal.

I had a pork bowl with an egg on top, along with side dishes like miso soup and vegetables. I sprinkled plenty of shichimi (seven spice) on top and enjoyed it thoroughly. The shichimi here comes out easily, making it fun to sprinkle. I added it generously to the pork bowl, the egg, the miso soup, and even the side dishes. It was a delicious and enjoyable meal. I'm starting to prefer pork bowls over beef bowls lately. I don't feel like eating beef bowls as much anymore.

Last month, wasn't it? The pork bowl made a comeback. Were there a lot of people eagerly waiting for it? It was quite surprising to see it becoming a topic of conversation! Unaware of such things, I just ordered it as usual. It had been a while since I had become a lunch refugee and had to rely on fast food restaurants. In that sense, it can truly be said that it is a grateful existence. I thought that kimchi would go well with pork, so I chose the "Kimchi Pork Bowl (regular size)" for 450 yen. Actually, this was my first time eating the "Pork Bowl" at Sukiya, so I can evaluate it without any special attachment. First, the taste was decent, typical of a fast food restaurant with a safe finish that everyone would find delicious, and the overall volume was also fine. However, as mentioned online, I have to say that the amount of meat is a bit small. Well, considering the price, I guess it can't be helped, but if that's the case, the beef bowl would be better... As for the "Pork Bowl," it was like that, but there was a little incident that made me reconsider Sukiya! This place has a slightly stylish atmosphere, like an oasis in the city, and that alone might be just a matter of location, but the staff's customer service was amazing. I had the impression that no matter which Sukiya store I used, the staff's training was not well done, so my frequency of use was much lower than at Yoshinoya or Matsuya... if all stores have improved their service like this, my frequency of use might increase. However, this is something that can vary depending on the store, or even depending on the time of day. In that sense, this store can be recommended to some extent. It's a bit far from the station, but you can eat in a spacious and calm atmosphere!

I couldn't find a place for my final meal after leaving the previous restaurant due to poor transportation, so I ended up at this chain restaurant. I visited around 9 pm on a weekday and I was the only customer. I ordered the Miso Vegetable Gyudon (420 yen before tax). The dish arrived in about 3 minutes. The Miso Vegetable Gyudon was supposed to have miso vegetables on top of the beef bowl according to the menu, but it actually came in a separate dish. The miso was delicious with a red miso base, but I didn't really understand the point of having it separate from the gyudon. I've noticed that lately, even when the store is open, Yoshinoya often turns off the lights on their sign, making it hard to tell if they are open or not as a customer. It might be for energy saving purposes, but it would be helpful to have clearer signs indicating whether they are open or not.

Visited around 8:50 am on November 19, 2013 (Tuesday). The restaurant is located on the left side as you walk from Oimachi Station to Shinagawa Ward Office. It's about a 5-6 minute walk from Oimachi Station. It's also about a 5-minute walk from Shimo-Shinmei Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line. It is located on the first floor of a newly built building as part of a redevelopment project. There are 7 movable table seats for 2 people on the right side of the entrance, and a U-shaped counter with 10 seats on the left side. The kitchen is at the back, and there is a register in front of it. Takeout orders are also placed at the register. The restaurant was being run by one male staff member. There were no customers when I arrived, but 4 customers came in later. The interior of the restaurant was clean as it had been open for a year. Due to a train accident causing delays, I couldn't take the train, so I got off at Shimo-Shinmei Station before Oimachi and visited this restaurant. When I asked for the morning menu, I was told that they didn't have egg over rice or salmon set meal. The staff recommended ordering the "Salmon Set Meal for 290 yen" and adding a "Raw Egg for 50 yen". I agreed to that option. The meal arrived in 2 minutes, which was quite fast probably because there were no other customers. The set meal consisted of rice, miso soup, grilled salted salmon, and simmered hijiki seaweed. This time, it came with an additional raw egg. The taste was pretty standard, similar to other restaurants nationwide. The miso soup was served hot, which can vary depending on the restaurant. I remembered that they used to serve dried young sardines with grated daikon instead of hijiki seaweed. It was satisfying to have breakfast at Sukiya after a long time. After that, I walked back to Oimachi Station to catch the Keihin-Tohoku Line, but the trains were still too crowded even after 40 minutes of service resuming. I ended up waiting for 15 minutes on the platform, watching several trains pass by, before finally being able to board. I left home 20 minutes earlier than usual but ended up arriving 20 minutes late (laughs). I guess if I leave home early occasionally, this is what happens. From tomorrow, I'll probably go back to barely making it on time for work. The total bill for this day was 340 yen. Thank you for the meal.
