Yakitori bar in Shimokitazawa. Climbing the stairs up to the 3rd floor can be a bit tough. The interior has a good mix of counter seats and table seats. The appetizer is a refreshing grated chicken dish, which is quite tasty. There aren't many types of alcohol, so I ordered a lemon sour for now. I ordered the chef's choice of 5 skewers. Without much explanation, I analyzed it myself. Probably thigh, breast, tenderloin, gizzard, and skin. The skewers weren't served piping hot, which was a bit disappointing. The prices are reasonable and affordable. They stay open late, so it seems convenient.

I visited a event called "Kampai" in the Shitamachi area and tried the 1100 yen menu at various shops, which includes a drink and food. I ordered yakitori and a gin and tonic at this place. The atmosphere inside the bar is authentic and the gin and tonic they make is delicious. The yakitori, grilled on a proper grill inside the shop, is also tasty. I think the combination of a bar and yakitori is great, but there were many smokers, so I left early.

At the "Shimokitazawa Curry Festival," I tried the mini-sized curry tsukemen for 600 yen at Yakitori BAR Amiami. The curry broth was red curry. It had been years since I last had tsukemen, but it was delicious! ☆☆

It was a Monday night, but we were able to enjoy our meal in a very calm atmosphere! The owner was very welcoming, and even though it was our first time there, it has become one of our favorite spots. The potato dish was perfect as a snack with its black pepper and salty flavor. The okra-wrapped pork and various chicken skewers were of high quality and satisfying. It feels like this place is at the top level among izakayas and bars! Of course, they had a wide variety of drinks as well. The total bill for two of us was just over 5000 yen. We were truly satisfied! Thank you for the great meal.

I went to Shimokitazawa for the first time in a while to see a play. It's not completely back to normal yet, but being able to watch a play surrounded by many other audience members is a great feeling. Since the declaration was lifted, I feel like I've been more grateful for things that used to be taken for granted, and one of the top things I'm grateful for is being able to dine out freely. So, lately I've been eating out a lot and my stomach area has definitely been affected (laughs). Sorry for the long introduction, but after the play, I went to "Amiami" in Shimokitazawa. It's a bar on the third floor where you can enjoy a relaxing drink, but I was surprised by the high quality of the food! The skewers were all delicious without any misses, and the liver sashimi was particularly tasty. The grilling was also done very well. The atmosphere feels more like a bar, so the drinks also have a refined taste. It's a place where you can come alone or use it as a second venue for drinks. I felt like there were a lot of regular customers in the store, but as I ate and drank, I could understand why there are so many regulars. "Amiami" is a wonderful restaurant that fits the atmosphere of Shimokitazawa, and it's a place I would like to visit again!

Today, after finishing a meeting in Shimokitazawa, I heard that there are various new shops on the Town Hall side, so I went to explore. I found a somewhat shady shop near the station, close to Sasazawa Street. It was on the 3rd floor, so I entered hesitantly. There were a few regular customers at the counter, and at first I thought it was just a bar, but there were table seats and a yakitori menu, so I decided to give it a try. The stylish interior made me think that they only had snacks, but the raw chicken liver sashimi was amazingly delicious. It was a nice surprise. The yakitori was also delicious, and it was a unique shop that can be found in Shimokitazawa. I recommend giving it a try, even if it's your second visit. It was a good restaurant! I will go visit the next restaurant now.

The food is very delicious. It's also nice to have a whisky slowly after your stomach settles. For those who want to have both food and drinks in one place without moving around, this could be a good option.

I randomly entered this shop and felt a bit uneasy because the stairs were narrow, but the inside of the shop was nice! The appetizer was a spicy daikon and cucumber salad, and I also ordered shishito lettuce with pork, ginger pork rolls, beef tendons and tripe stew, fried chikuwa, and meat sauce. Everything was delicious and I recommend it. Personally, I felt the meat sauce was a bit sweet, but I think many people would like it. I will definitely go there again.

The "Shimokitazawa Curry Festival 2017" was held for 10 days from October 6th (Friday) to 15th (Sunday) with 149 participating stores offering a variety of curries. What makes this festival interesting is that not only traditional curry shops, but also various other eateries participate with unique curry dishes. One such place is "Amiami", a yakitori izakaya or rather, a yakitori bar. It's a wonderful space that combines the casual atmosphere of an izakaya with the cozy feel of a bar. The festival menu offered by this place includes curry tsukemen and curry rice, with the option of mini sizes which is convenient. The mini-sized curry tsukemen was surprisingly authentic and delicious. The curry dipping broth turned out to be a Thai red curry base, with a good level of spiciness that complemented the Japanese-style tsukemen well. It was quite a unique dish to find at a yakitori izakaya. And the best part is, this curry tsukemen is available even during regular business hours. This was a delightful discovery and I look forward to visiting this interesting place again after the festival.

Traveling all the way to Shimokitazawa, there is a casual drinking event called "Baru Baru" with a total of 82 participating stores. This particular establishment is a yakitori restaurant, but it has more of a yakitori dining atmosphere rather than a traditional yakitori shop. Despite the small space, it attracts a lot of female customers, making it a good spot for girls who love yakitori. The Baru Baru menu offered was a "chef's choice 5 skewers" set with a drink. The drink ordered was a draft beer, specifically Kirin Ichiban Shibori. Normally priced at 500 yen. The Ichiban Shibori had a strong bitterness to it. The yakitori was cooked carefully over charcoal using a fan. Despite being part of the Baru Baru menu, the service was quick. However, there was no sign of pre-made skewers, as everything was served piping hot. Each skewer had a nice char on it. The chicken breast skewer was juicy and had a good texture. The seasoning was just right. The liver skewer was marinated in sauce, but not overpoweringly so. It had a nice tenderness and just the right amount of flavor. The skin on the skewers was crispy on the edges. The heart skewer was perhaps the best of all, perfectly cooked with an ideal texture. Overall, the yakitori was satisfying in every aspect.

I participated in the event "Bar Bar Shimokitazawa Hashigo Sake" in Shimokitazawa and used this restaurant. When you purchase a wristband for the event for 700 yen (500 yen in advance), you can enjoy a special dish for 1,000 yen plus one drink or 400 yen for just one drink at the participating restaurants. The event map provided at the time of purchasing the wristband includes photos and descriptions of the dishes, allowing you to choose where to go. Some restaurants may be full depending on the time, so be careful. Participating restaurants are indicated by posters outside the shops. The event seems to be held regularly, with different restaurants participating each time. I visited this restaurant, "Ami Ami," as my 9th stop, just before the last train (I was already quite drunk at this point). My stomach was full, and I was looking for a bar-like place near the station to have one last drink. I didn't want a too fancy bar atmosphere, so I stumbled upon this place that seemed like a mix of an izakaya and a bar, "Yakitori Bar Ami Ami." The sign was a bit confusing, but the casual and friendly atmosphere made it easy to enter. The special dish for the event was a set of 5 yakitori skewers, and the drink menu was similar to a typical izakaya. The yakitori skewers were delicious, with a good texture, although they took a bit of time to cook. The place is suitable for those who want to enjoy a drink and order food slowly, as the service is not rushed.

I was invited to the reopening reception! I tried various recommended dishes from the menu. But first, beer! Half & Half ¥600 - a mix of Heartland and Ichiban Shibori Stout. Cream Cheese with Pickles ¥520 - a combination of pickled daikon and string beans. Shrimp Shinjo and Basil Spring Roll ¥780 - an ethnic dish perfect with beer. Gin Buck ¥550 - all cocktails are ¥550. Carrot and Chicken Breast Salad with Walnut Flavor ¥680 - a surprising twist on carrot salad with lots of roasted walnuts. Plenty of Clams in White Wine Steamed ¥1350/Half - with mussels and clams in a garlic-infused broth. Hot Caprese ¥980, Rosemary-flavored Chicken Wing Gyoza ¥640/2pcs - juicy and flavorful. Asian Pho ¥680 - a hearty soup to end the meal. The ambiance is great for a casual drink or a solo meal. Another great dining option in Shimokitazawa! (Reopening from 11/22 onwards!)
