Last year, they had a regular all-you-can-eat sushi event. We went in the summer, but it was canceled afterwards. However, starting from this summer, it seems to be held every last Saturday of the month. And they are really serious about it, offering all-you-can-eat sushi for the whole day. We arrived in the morning, and there were already more than 10 people there. Last summer, there were only 3-4 people... The all-you-can-eat option costs 4000 yen for 90 minutes, with last orders taken 30 minutes before closing. They serve 2 pieces of sushi per type ordered. Sushi is ordered using paper instead of tablets, while other dishes and desserts are ordered verbally. The staff recommended ordering 5-8 plates to keep a good pace. They do not serve small portions of rice or wasabi, and drinks are self-service. There is a penalty of 100 yen per piece for any sushi left uneaten. The appetizer is edamame. Compared to last year, there are fewer sushi options. Nigiri includes fatty tuna, sardine, and eel, with as many as 8 varieties from Numazu. There are more variations of negitoro in gunkan sushi. The side dishes now include fried dishes such as horse mackerel, large shrimp, and oyster fry. Desserts have been reduced to 2 types, likely due to seasonal changes. Drinks include water, tea, iced coffee, and miso soup with dried seaweed. There were a total of 12 pieces of sushi from Numazu. The saury was firm with skin, yellowtail had moderate fat, and sea bream was thick. Golden eye snapper, flatfish, and horse mackerel were average. However, the flatfish was sold out early. The red vinegar rice was lightly seasoned and the size was similar to that of conveyor belt sushi. The sushi toppings were slightly large. The sea urchin was slightly bitter due to alum but omitting cucumber was a good move. The same goes for salmon roe. The tuna seemed to be lean tuna. The yellowtail had good fat content and was delicious. The large shrimp was quite good too. The engawa was particularly tasty. The scallop was thick and fresh. The large conger eel could have been a bit softer. The yellowtail and scallop were well-made today, so I concentrated on those with 10 pieces each. The large shrimp fry as a side was about 20 cm and had a firm texture. It took more than 10 minutes for it to be served. The pudding was a bite-sized firm texture, and the cut cake was caramel and apple. They were better than the bite-sized green tea from last year. More people arrived and it became crowded, but the serving speed did not decrease much. Some people left after knowing that only all-you-can-eat sushi was available. There were no outstanding sushi options, but the side dishes seemed promising, and considering the price with dessert included, it was quite good. However, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the sushi as I progressed through the meal. A few years ago, there were many limited sushi all-you-can-eat events at various restaurants, but most of them have disappeared. I am grateful that this place has revived it. They will not be doing it in December, so I am glad I came this month.
