If you're looking for cheap and delicious meat in Fukuoka, "Taugyu" is the place to go. They have a style of yakiniku where you cook the meat on a charcoal grill, but the ventilation system is not great, so there is a lot of smoke. It has a smoky flavor, but the cost performance is excellent. It's a bit disappointing that if you go early, they may run out of meat, but on the flip side, because of this great cost performance, it sells out quickly. A popular spot.

Located 530m from Takeshita Station is the famous Tanugi in Fukuoka. This restaurant chain has several branches in Fukuoka city and is known for its great cost-performance ratio. The Takeshita branch is considered the main branch. I have visited other branches such as Hakata Station South and Higashi-Hie before, but this was my first time here. It is a popular spot, and I had to wait for about 20 minutes before getting a table. The smoke here is thicker than at any other Tanugi branch. The smell sticks to your clothes and hair, so if that bothers you, it might be an issue. The meat here is really good value for money. All the cuts are delicious, and even though the prices have gone up, it is still quite affordable. The Kalbi is served per person, so make sure to order it for everyone. While a clean restaurant is nice, sometimes I think this old-fashioned smoky atmosphere adds to the experience.

Popular restaurant in Hakata. In the summer, you wait with mosquito coils burning, it's a common sense to wait for a long time at this shop. Before COVID-19, the Minami Station branch always had long lines. It's the image of a shop where Korean tourists and foreigners often line up. This time, I went to the Takeshita branch after a long time. I was able to enter smoothly without a reservation. The smoke is thick, so it's better not to wear your favorite clothes (lol). They serve A5 rank meat to grill on a shichirin. The charcoal fire is incredibly delicious. The sauce here is also super delicious. It has a fruity taste with hints of onion, ginger, apple, and garlic. My friend can eat rice with the sauce alone, like Kenji Nishi's style (lol). The tripe was processed in a way that made it easy to eat, and it was delicious with a spicy kick. I still really like the loin here.

I went to Yakiniku Tagyu, which is located in a quiet area with few people passing by. When I entered the restaurant, it was filled with white smoke. It's rare to see a yakiniku restaurant these days with the interior so white from smoke. I was seated in the center and given a plastic bag for smoke and odor prevention. I put my jacket in the bag to avoid any smells sticking to it. This kind of consideration is very much appreciated. I ordered the following items: Black Wagyu Kalbi @650, Harami @950, and Upper Mino @650. The Black Wagyu Kalbi is limited to one serving per person, which is about 5-6 pieces. They were using A5 grade Saga beef that day, so the quality for the price of @650 was great. Personally, I found it a bit too fatty because I prefer lean meat. The Harami had a good amount and was very delicious. Eating the Harami after the Kalbi, with less fat, was really tasty. The Upper Mino had many cuts with a lot of knife marks, so it lacked the chewy texture I was expecting. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, they are only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you want to eat good meat at a reasonable price, I recommend this place. Just be aware that the smoke and smell might stick to your clothes, so it's best to wear something you don't mind getting smelly. I would like to go back again. Thank you for the meal!

When it comes to meat in Fukuoka, it's gotta be Taugyu! The popular yakiniku restaurant is highly recommended by the owner. So, you have to go! Since you can't make a reservation, write your name down before they open and wait outside. As you can see in the photos, it's incredibly cheap. The portions are generous too. You can get black wagyu beef for under 700 yen. Even if you order 3 items, it's only around 2000 yen. You gotta eat this. You gotta eat this. That's why nights in Fukuoka are so enjoyable. Indulge in delicious meat, then disappear into the night streets. You can eat top-quality meat at unbelievable prices. Just be prepared for the smoky atmosphere! Thank you very much!

I walked about 10 minutes from Takeshita Station and went to Yakiniku Tago-san. The interior of the restaurant is quite old and the smoke is a bit thick. They give you a bag so that the smell doesn't stick to your clothes. You can eat high-quality Japanese black beef, but it is limited to the number of people for the first order only. It was a little disappointing that there were no tongue dishes, but the meat overall was delicious. The hormone was also delicious, so I was satisfied with the taste. The seating style is like a tatami room with no partitions between the surrounding seats, and it is not a sunken kotatsu style, so some people may feel a little cramped.
