It's been a while since I came to the Kanto region, and I feel like the spring rolls here are somewhat inferior compared to the ones I had in Kansai (excluding the udon and soba broth). When I was a child, the spring rolls I had at Chinese restaurants and the ones my parents made were impressive, with distinct flavors of vegetables, meat, and shrimp without the gooey filling. The wrapper was also different. After researching on Google, I found out that what I had in Kansai was called egg spring rolls. I wondered if there was a place in Tokyo where I could try them, and I found this restaurant. I went alone, with the main goal of trying the spring rolls. The texture of the wrapper and the filling brought back a sense of nostalgia, although it wasn't exactly the same as back then. I still prefer the spring rolls from Kansai.

In the midst of the PayPay 20% cashback coupon festival coming to an end, the restaurant I wanted to go to in the Kinshicho area was crowded, so I changed my plans and had lunch at this Chinese restaurant. Of course, this place is also eligible for the PayPay 20% cashback. The lunch sets and noodle sets here range from 700 yen to 850 yen, which is quite affordable. However, the water tasted weird, and the fact that smoking is allowed during lunch left a bad impression. The smoking area was empty so it wasn't too bothersome, but still. I wasn't really drawn to the lunch sets, and I was craving something spicy, so I decided on the unusual choice of the mapo tofu noodles and half fried rice set for 800 yen. The service time was a bit longer for a Chinese restaurant, but the fried rice seemed to be cooked properly. The mapo tofu was flavorful with a good balance of numbing and spicy flavors, and the noodles had a flat texture which was nice. The fried rice was a small size with simple ingredients but had a nice hint of lard flavor. They also served almond jelly, but it had a commercial taste and fragrance that wasn't very enjoyable, and there was too much of it. I got my craving for something spicy satisfied, and in terms of portion size and cost, it was a decent lunch.

Located a little away from Kinshicho Station North Exit, this shop had a sign allowing smoking which made me hesitant to enter. However, since there were no other customers on this particular Saturday, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the mapo tofu rice bowl and half ramen set (850 yen). The ramen had thick, round noodles similar to champon with a strong peppery soy sauce soup, which personally, I did not enjoy. On the other hand, the mapo tofu rice bowl, while not being very spicy, had a good balance of flavor and was delicious.

What should I eat? This is always the theme that haunts me when I'm alone. I don't really care what it is. I just want to quickly eat something and get back to work. There are quite a few people around me like that. As for me, I'm not interested in fancy, luxurious lunches or super popular restaurants. I prefer trying new, unknown flavors that someone recommends as delicious. That's the kind of food I want to try. Lately, the search word I've been looking up is "spring rolls." It's something that you can find anywhere, right? But what I'm looking for is the egg ones. Egg spring rolls. I only knew about the crispy ones, but egg wrappers? That's a thing! I recently found out about it. However, all the search results seem to be from Kansai. It seems to be a pretty popular menu item in Kansai. In Kanto, for some reason, Osaka Ohsho keeps coming up, but it's not on their menu. I was about to give up and settle when I made a discovery! And it's in Kinshicho, a place I pass by often! On the table was the "lunch set" menu, and of course, it wasn't listed there. I flipped through the grand menu...and finally found it! Homemade egg roll spring rolls. It's just for lunch, but can I order from the grand menu? I asked hesitantly, and they said it was okay. Just this wasn't enough, so I also ordered the fried rice and half ramen set from the lunch menu. Maybe I didn't need the half ramen. The fried rice was a bit on the dry side, but it looked like a small portion, but it was actually quite a lot due to the depth of the bowl. The ramen was a simple soy sauce flavor with square-cut noodles that were smooth and straight. Both were the kind that I like. And then, the egg spring rolls. It was fluffy, but crispy on the outside. The layers inside the egg were fluffy in texture. It was filled with ingredients like Chinese cabbage, chives, carrots, leeks, Shirataki noodles, pork, etc. A lot of ingredients. When you bite into it, the filling jumps out from the gaps. The seasoning was well done, and it was delicious as it is. So this is egg spring rolls. It's definitely delicious! Well, is this the egg spring rolls that I was told about? I don't know the answer, but for now, let's just say it was delicious and leave it at that.

[Reason for Visit] Today, I was wandering around the site looking for lunch (#^_^#) I randomly entered this restaurant after looking at the menu outside (^^)/ [Visit Time] Around 11:30 AM on September 21st (Sat) (^o^)/ [Number of Customers] 0 people (・∀・) [Ordered Dish] Mapo Tofu (*^-^*) [Reason for Ordering] I decided on this dish after looking at the menu (*'▽'*) [Preparation Time] About 7-8 minutes \(^o^)/ [Side Dishes] Rice, soup, cucumber and wakame seaweed in spicy vinegar, almond jelly (^-^*) Now, let's dig in! m(._.)m Itadakimasu [Taste Impressions] The tofu in the mapo tofu was silken tofu, and the spiciness came from doubanjiang and chili oil (*'▽'*). It was mildly spicy, so even those who don't like spicy food should be okay (o^^o). The numbing spiciness of the Sichuan peppercorns added a nice kick (*^^*). The sweetness and umami from sweet bean sauce helped balance out the spiciness (*^^*). The ground meat added a nice flavor, with a hint of garlic aroma (*^^*). The seasoning was on the stronger side, making it easy to eat with rice. The rice was cooked just right, fluffy and moist (*^o^*). However, it was a bit disappointing that the rice wasn't freshly cooked when I arrived right after the restaurant opened. The soup was quite salty, making me thirsty when I drank it (´`:) Overall, the flavors were intense, and I wished for something to refresh my palate (;^_^A) "Hourai Shun," thank you for the meal! m(._.)m

Teppanyaki restaurant was fully booked, so I visited a neighboring Chinese izakaya for the first time. The restaurant was relatively empty due to the festival at Kinshicho Park, and it had a worn-out sign and a manual door due to a broken automatic door, giving it a nostalgic feel. I ordered the Tipsy Set for 750 yen, which included a drink, gyoza, and a choice of one dish. I chose a draft beer and stir-fried shiitake mushrooms and beef in soy sauce. The gyoza was larger than usual and had a chewy texture, which was delicious. The stir-fried dish was actually made with shimeji mushrooms instead of shiitake, but it had a rich flavor that paired well with the beer. The Five-Ingredient Ramen was filled with plenty of toppings and had thick noodles, providing a satisfying meal for its price. Overall, it was a decent experience considering the affordable prices.

Seafood Chinese restaurant "Haisen Chuka Penglai" in Kinshicho, tried out their Chinese lunch menu for the first time. It's located between the station and my office, and I've been curious about it for a while. The prices are average for Chinese restaurants in the Kinshicho area. This week, I chose the "Egg, Meat, and Wood Ear Mushroom Stir-Fry with Vegetables" for 650 yen. I really like the combination of egg, meat, and wood ear mushrooms. The dish that came out was a stir-fry with eggs in oyster sauce, with a subtle flavor. The meat was thinly sliced, and the komatsuna and wood ear mushrooms were cut into large pieces. The rice portion was normal, but you can get a large serving if you want. The notable point was the dessert, almond jelly, which was made with real almond powder. It was quite good. While An An has a strong Sichuan-Chongqing style, this restaurant has a gentle Shanghai-style Chinese cuisine. It was very delicious.

**Visit on February 7, 2019** - The egg, meat, kikurage and vegetable stir-fry set meal costs 650 yen. This Chinese restaurant offers 14 different set meals ranging from 650 yen to 700 yen, which is quite affordable. The "egg, meat, kikurage and vegetable stir-fry" had a good amount of vegetables, which was great for someone like me who tends to lack vegetables in their diet. Since it's Chinese cuisine, there is oil involved and I'm conscious of the calories, but with plenty of green and yellow vegetables, theoretically it should be calorie-free (laughs). The set meal also came with kimchi, miso soup, and almond jelly, all for just 650 yen. The flavors were well-balanced and quite delicious. The rice was soft and the portion size was just right, so I was very satisfied.

New Year's party. After helping with the Coming of Age ceremony at the request of Sumida Ward, we have our annual New Year's party here. It's reserved for 25 people, with all-you-can-drink during the day. The participation fee is 3000 yen, maybe they are subsidizing it? I took proper photos of the steamed chicken with snow peas and dried shrimp, but I can't remember the rest due to the wild drinking. We had dishes like shredded pork with green peppers, shrimp chili, stir-fried garlic sprouts, and what else? We had a rowdy drinking session with beer followed by Shaoxing wine, the expensive one in the photo was someone's treat, it's really good and goes down smoothly. I overdid it with Shaoxing wine last year and had a terrible hangover, so I'm pacing myself this time. Especially since today is a doubleheader with another New Year's party in the evening. I think we ended the meal with fried rice, it's cheap and delicious. Steamed chicken is my favorite, it's fun to eat and drink with everyone. I hope we can do it again next year! 🎉

(First review) 10/03/2018 First visit. No customers before or after. The items I ordered are as follows. [Food] - Homemade egg roll (It might be my first time eating egg rolls at a restaurant. The crispy skin is good, but I also like this style. The filling has a gentle flavor.) - Pan-fried dumplings (They were slightly larger than I expected. I ate them with vinegar soy sauce, but the taste didn't leave a strong impression.) - Five-ingredient fried rice (At first, I thought the flavor was strong, but as I kept eating, it grew on me. The portion felt slightly large, so this alone might be satisfying.) [Drink] - Draft beer (It's Asahi Super Dry, it seems.) Thank you for the meal.

I used to go to Hamamuraya in Osaka and Kyoto a lot in the past, and I loved the egg skin spring rolls I had there. When I searched for it in Tokyo and found this restaurant, I went there with some customers. While I can't compare it to Hamamuraya, I was very happy because I was tired of the crispy spring rolls. I will definitely go back again.

During the day, I decided to board a city bus. However, before I could get on, I witnessed an elderly lady in front of me trying to give candy to the bus driver. The driver seemed unaware and accepted it with pity. I knew that when elderly ladies give candy to someone, the recipients always end up feeling like they should listen to everything they say. I observed this scene outside a restaurant called "Hourokushun" in Kinshicho. I was spotted by a man who came out of the restaurant and was invited inside. It was past 11:30 in the afternoon, so I sat at a non-revolving round table near the entrance. The man who called out to me remained in the kitchen. The television was right in front of me, showing news about an old lady who was bitten by a wild monkey and bravely stood up with a stick to confront the monkey. It was a dignified sight. I noticed glasses filled with water and ice on top of a refrigerator with KIRIN logo. The restaurant seemed proud of its lunchtime business. Then, the news reported a man from Zimbabwe who forcibly kissed a teenage girl and got arrested. I found it very inappropriate! I ordered the "Mapo Don and Half Ramen Set" for 700 yen, thinking that if one of the dishes was not good, the other would save the meal. If both were bad, I would just have to deal with it. The conversation between the waitress and the man in the kitchen sounded like Chinese. The ramen that arrived was typical of a local Chinese restaurant, with toppings like chashu, bean sprouts, and seaweed in a soy sauce-based soup. The noodles were slightly thick, adding a unique touch. The Mapo Don had a hint of spices but was not too spicy, making it enjoyable for me. It was not outstanding but delicious, and I felt satisfied. The almond jelly was generously topped with syrup, and I finished it in one go. Two couples who came in after me all ordered from the lunch menu without hesitation. After finishing the almond jelly, I left the restaurant, watching the people around me order confidently. As I walked out, the sky was still dull, and raindrops had not yet fallen. I wandered through Kinshicho, pondering the lack of promotion for Kinshicho as the birthplace of Kinshicho Tamago. I thought about a man who had been marked with a tombstone while still alive, wondering what he was thinking...

Just a little past the north exit of Kinshicho Station, there is a bright red restaurant called Chugoku Sando Nai Penglai Chun. It seems to be a genuine Chinese restaurant. There are photos of small dishes lined up next to the door. Tonight, I'm here for a casual drink. There were only three girls as customers. I ordered the tipsy set: 750 yen for one dish, fried dumplings, and one drink. There was also a set for 980 yen with two dishes, but it's for groups of three. I had a draft beer with sweet and sour pork and fried dumplings. The draft beer was Asahi in a medium glass. The foam was a bit rough, but not bad. The sweet and sour pork was a classic style with onions, carrots, and green peppers. The meat was a bit tough. The dumplings were handmade and juicy, very delicious. There were no other customers except for the three girls, so I quickly left the restaurant.

About a 5-minute walk from Kinshicho Station North Exit is a Chinese restaurant called Yomogi Haru. The menu board at the storefront caught my eye with "Meat, Egg, and Wood Ear Stir-Fry" at the top. I entered the restaurant and had to manually open the broken automatic door. The place was quite busy with customers. As I was dining alone, I sat at a large round table near the entrance where I could see the TV. I ordered the Meat, Egg, and Wood Ear Stir-Fry. It arrived in 7 minutes, and there was a generous portion of almond jelly. The stir-fry had a rich flavor and was delicious. The portion was quite large, so I had to consider balancing it with rice. Oh, there's smoke coming from over there... It's a smoking area. Let's leave promptly after eating.

Hello! (^_^)/ I revisited this place after the great experience with the chicken soba last time. The noodles are still nice and slippery, which is good! However, today the soup was lukewarm. Also, the half-fried rice was a bit disappointing. The fried rice was too thin... The taste seems inconsistent. This time, it was a bit disappointing. Goodbye! (^_^)/~ Hey there! September is almost over, isn't it, dear! The menu here has changed to the summer version. Today, I ordered the chicken ramen and half-fried rice set. The soup is salty with steamed chicken and green onions as toppings. Let's try the soup... Slurp... Oh, it tastes like the old salty flavor. Very simple salty taste without any seafood essence, yet it has a good depth. I quite like it. The noodles are the usual slippery and smooth ones. I might like this. What should I try next? Goodbye! (^_^)/~ Hello! It's so hot every day, isn't it, dear! Today, I tried the daily lunch special "Stir-fried Pork and Long Green Onions." When it arrived, I was surprised by the large lunch plate. It's almost all green onions! It feels more like "Stir-fried Long Green Onions and Pork." The taste is a bit salty, which makes the rice go down smoothly. Well, it's important to replenish salt in the summer, right? The bean sprout namul-like side dish looks spicy but it's not. The soup, on the other hand, is unexpectedly light. In other words, it has a gentle taste. Hmm, there are so many green onions... I ended up getting a second serving of rice. Hehe. One evening, I was having dinner. Suddenly, there was a big earthquake! The main dish was shaking a lot. It was quite a big earthquake, but the epicenter was far away. It was in Bangladesh... Goodbye! Good day! The daily lunch is 650 yen. The menu has changed a bit. Well, today, I ended up having ramen again in this sweat-drenched Sumida district. And, once again, I ordered the half-fried rice! This time, I went for the five-ingredient soba. The ingredients include cabbage, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, squid, and pork. That makes five ingredients. The taste is good. The soy sauce soup of the ramen with the added bean paste creates a unique umami flavor. The soup and noodles here have a strange way of growing on you. For a five-ingredient dish, shouldn't it have exactly five ingredients? Sometimes, you find dishes that don't have five ingredients, right, dear? And occasionally, you find dishes with more than five ingredients, right, dear? It would be nice to line up various five-ingredient soba dishes and choose the one you like the most to eat. This is like a "Five-Ingredient Lineup." Goodbye! (^o^)/~ Hello! The rainy season is still not over, is it, dear? When will it end, I wonder? Maybe around my next birthday in February? This is like saying "Happy Birthday"... Don't be ridiculous! I've been bullied since elementary school, and now you want to bring it up again? In junior high, I didn't show up for three years... If you bully me more, I'll cry! That's enough! If you can do it, then do it! Fool, Dave, belly out, yay! Today, the -==========
