Tsukishima for the first time! However, I just wandered around on my bike - of course, I couldn't drink any alcohol. Everywhere I looked, it was monjayaki or okonomiyaki. I couldn't find any other types of restaurants. As expected, on a Sunday evening, the bustling streets surprised me, almost like a tourist destination. I'd like to come back with my partner and take our time exploring. But for now, I was hungry and searching for a place to eat. I found a restaurant specializing in dried fish as the main dish. The open storefront gave a refreshing feeling, almost like a cafe. This place must be great in the summer. Many customers were enjoying small dishes and drinks, having a nice family gathering. I sat at the counter. They offered free water and self-service tea. I sipped on hot tea. The restaurant had many employees from overseas, which added to the cozy atmosphere. I ordered the sashimi set meal, which was said to be quick to serve. It came with pickled vegetables and sweet simmered dishes, adding a touch of luxury. The set meal was simple - sashimi, miso soup, rice, that's it. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for the sashimi, but it turned out to be delicious! The portion was just right for an older person like me. This restaurant is a rare find in the monjayaki district, right? As I left, I noticed the sign was already off as the restaurant was about to close. Sunday nights in Tsukishima are early (laughs). I'll definitely come back to this town! Thank you for the meal.

First of all, the "Dried Fish Specialty Restaurant" does not have a "Smelt Set Meal" because it is not listed on the menu. What they do have is the individual "Authentic Smelt," which is of exceptionally high quality. You can choose between a female with plenty of eggs or a flavorful male with firm flesh, and you can even order both. The "Authentic Smelt" is a purebred species native to the coastal areas of the Pacific side of Hokkaido, known for its pure Japanese origin without any mixing. If you ever come across it, the feeling towards the "Authentic Smelt" becomes the obvious top choice. So, I decided to create my own "Smelt Set Meal" by putting together the individual items. The lineup includes grilled "Authentic Smelt - 2 females and 2 males," "Shirasu grated radish" from the appetizer menu, a rice set, and side dishes like salted squid guts, radish and kelp pickles, and dried young sardines. As I look at the completed "Smelt Set Meal" in front of me, I feel a strong desire to savor it. Sometimes, I just crave "Smelt." I am not a fan of fish bones or eel bones due to the texture, but I do enjoy small fish. The combination of almond fish with crushed almonds and slightly spicy dried young sardines is a favorite of mine. I also love the crispy texture of small bones in dried fish like anchovies, dried horse mackerel, and capelin. From there, my love for "Smelt" naturally follows. The grilled "Authentic Smelt" with its firm flesh, soft egg like mousse, crispy small bones, and skin accent is a delight for me. The changing flavors and textures as I eat through the head and bones of the small fish captivate me. The enjoyment of the transition in textures from start to finish is what keeps me coming back for more. So, let's switch our focus back to the "Smelt Set Meal" in front of me. Starting with the "Authentic Smelt," I choose the female with a bulging belly full of eggs and savor the unique flavors and textures of this delicacy.

On this Sunday, I came to Tsukishima for work. Although my work starts in the afternoon, I arrived early and decided to take a stroll around the town after parking my car at the coin parking lot. I was overwhelmed by the abundance of "monja" restaurants. Since I used to work part-time at an "okonomiyaki restaurant" during my student days, I am an "okonomiyaki fan" myself. Excluding "monja," my lunch options were limited. The restaurant I entered originally opens at 11:30, but around 11:15, some customers went in, so I followed suit. I didn't pay much attention to the board outside the shop, but I remembered that the set meal "A" included "aji" (horse mackerel). I ordered the "A set meal..." thinking it was a set meal with "aji" and another type of sashimi (laughs). The interior of the restaurant had good natural lighting and a bright atmosphere, similar to a typical set meal restaurant. The kitchen was run by the owner and two foreigners, a man and a woman, making a total of three staff members. According to a previous post, they seemed to be from South Asia. I was immediately drawn to the three appetizing containers placed on the table. The yellow one contained finely sliced pickled radish ("takuan"). The other two were likely homemade, one being "ika no shiokara" (salted squid) and the other "ami no tsukudani" (sweet and salty boiled small fish). These were luxurious accompaniments for rice. The set meal that was eventually served included "dried horse mackerel" and "satsuma-age" (deep-fried fish cake), with miso soup made from "red miso." It wasn't sashimi after all (laughs). The dried horse mackerel was undeniably delicious, and the satsuma-age was surprisingly tasty. It's rare to come across satsuma-age that makes you say "delicious!" I'm not sure if it's due to their discerning eye or the perfect cooking, but this satsuma-age was enjoyable. What further enhanced my satisfaction were the "rice accompaniments." At first glance, the "set meal A" seemed simple, but having these "shiokara," "tsukudani," and pickles as side dishes in small bowls would have added a touch of luxury. Here, being able to eat as much of them as you like made it even more luxurious. It turned out to be a delicious lunch in Tsukishima. This restaurant seems like a great place for a night of drinking with its enticing à la carte menu.

The place feels cozy with local regulars, like a traditional set meal restaurant near the station. The menu seems to focus only on fish, so it may not be suitable for meat lovers. They offer a decent selection of Japanese sake. They also have a delicious limited-time mackerel sandwich in the evenings. I think their grilled fish is quite good.

Today's lunchtime violence took place at the father and Tsukishima's set meal restaurant "Meshiya", where I enjoyed a meal of fatty Matoudai (horsehead sea bream) set meal and tuna sashimi. The Matoudai was cooked strongly, allowing the fat to render and become crispy like fried chicken, even the bones were crunchy. Absolutely delicious!! Finally, I enjoyed the complimentary salted fish roe, seaweed simmered in soy sauce, pickles, and green tea to make ochazuke. It was delicious twice over!

I will be transferred from this area in the spring, so I decided to go for some dried fish as a last meal for now! I cheated on sashimi without asking what was in it, but scallops and horse mackerel were delicious. It would have been great if there were some fresh fish like horse mackerel. The salted fish roe here is edible, so I enjoyed it with a little rice. Thank you for the meal. I'm curious about the night banquet here.

I felt like eating grilled fish, so I came to this restaurant on Wednesday at 12:20 with no waiting. Today's chef's choice set meal for 1,000 yen included a splendid silver salmon and cold mackerel. The silver salmon was impressive, a nice change from the usual supermarket salmon. The mackerel was also delicious with its rich flavor. It was great to enjoy two types of grilled fish. The pickles, squid salted guts, and furikake on the table were free to use. I love pickles and squid salted guts, especially after trying the ones from Odajima Suisan in Hakodate. Their squid salted guts are amazing. Thank you for the meal.

A popular diner near Tsukishima Station known for its saba mirin set meal. I ordered the saba mirin set meal for 1200 yen, which takes about 15 minutes to grill. The mirin-dried fish originated in the Taisho era and is also sold as a souvenir at the storefront. They offer salted fish roe, pickled vegetables, and furikake as all-you-can-eat side dishes. The rice is delicious, making the meal enjoyable with these side dishes. The saba mirin has a nostalgic flavor that goes well with rice. The miso soup is homely. It's a diner with a good variety of side dishes.

I ordered the Cold Mackerel Set Meal and Daikon Radish and Chicken Oden. I was drawn in by the delicious dried fish phrase. It's easy to dine alone here. The menu is also extensive, and they explain the daily recommendations in detail when ordering. The grilled salt mackerel had a nice amount of fat and was very delicious. I would like to visit again.

I came to Tsukishima after a long time. For lunch, of course, it has to be fish, so I came here. Today, the recommended dish is sashimi set meal, so I ordered it. Scallop, tuna, horse mackerel. The soup is delicious red miso soup. You can have as much salted squid guts as you want with the rice. The salted squid guts are delicious. The sashimi is also delicious! The rice goes down smoothly. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I might try the grilled fish.

I had lunch using a transfer. I arrived around 12:10 and the place was almost full. I was seated at a table and the staff quickly came to take my order. They recommended the tuna, scallop, and horse mackerel sashimi set. I ordered that without knowing the price, which was a mistake. The food arrived in a few minutes. It consisted of 2 pieces of fatty tuna, 1 piece of scallop cut into 4 pieces, and horse mackerel sashimi on rice with miso soup. It felt a bit lacking. The side dishes included pickles, salted fish roe, and simmered fish, which complemented the meal. The sashimi was fresh and lacked any fishy smell. The fatty tuna melted in my mouth and was delicious. The scallop was sweet and had a good texture. I ended up with leftover rice, so I put some salted fish roe on it. The salted fish roe was excellent, with no unpleasant smell and plenty of umami. The staff quickly cleared the table after I finished eating, which was a bit off-putting. When I paid, I found out it cost 1,250 yen. The quality of the ingredients was good, but the value for money was a bit lacking. Overall, it was a decent meal.

After much deliberation, I decided on the sashimi set with horse mackerel, medium fatty tuna, and scallops. It was delicious and satisfying. The salted fish roe and pickled radish were also great additions. The seaweed tsukudani was a nice touch. The rice was so good that I couldn't stop eating, leaving me feeling both satisfied and conflicted. Overall, it was a fantastic and fulfilling lunch experience.

When asked whether I prefer meat or fish, I would say meat, but sometimes I get a craving for grilled fish. When that happens, I always end up here. The rice is delicious, and I also love the red miso soup. The salted fish eggs, pickles, and simmered fish are all great. I usually order mackerel for grilled fish, but on this day, I lucked out with the daily lunch special A, which had both mackerel and salmon. The staff can come off a bit arrogant, but even considering that, I have visited this restaurant over 20 times.

Grilled saury? Autumn saury? Other options are salted herring or eel. Hmm, I haven't had saury yet! After ordering, a voice was heard from a nearby table saying, "They have sashimi set meals." Oh, I might have wanted that too. This is a common occurrence in local individual restaurants where the menu varies between tables. But the saury that arrived was so delicious with a beautiful sear that I couldn't stop smiling. It was served quickly, and I forgot to ask for half a portion of rice. One serving was too much, but half wouldn't be enough. I was contemplating what to do when the restaurant owner made eye contact and immediately offered to reduce the portion. This is another common occurrence in local individual restaurants. The flavor of the saury is concentrated and the dried fish has a salty taste, so soy sauce is not needed. I enjoyed dipping it in grated daikon radish and eating the crispy skin. The salted herring was delicious too. I couldn't resist and ended up eating it all. The return aroma from my throat while eating was pleasant.

What, salted herring roe? Dried fish? What's that? I ordered the whole dried herring roe. The flesh separates easily, it's soft and tasty, and the belly bones are tender. The overall saltiness is just right. The salted herring roe is packed tightly and has a good texture when chewed. I'm not a big fan of herring roe, but the chewy texture is nice. And the salted fish roe, which I don't usually eat in daily life, has a good aroma and tastes delicious.

Grilled fish is good, but I'm curious about the Ajitataki bowl, which brings back memories of my first time. Can I just order that without rice? Probably not, I'll go for the sashimi set instead! I'm sure it will come with Ajitataki in the assortment. Bingo! The Ajitataki, Chutoro, and scallops are delicious. I asked for half the rice because I tend to eat too much when it's unlimited. It's dangerous. I can't eat a normal amount. Next time, I'll try the grilled fish.

Due to work, I had to have an early dinner in Tsukishima, and after searching around, I found that there were mostly monjayaki restaurants with limited options. In the end, I decided to try a place where I could have rice and miso soup, which was a relief. I ordered the sashimi set for 1250 yen. Although the sashimi was delicious, I found it quite expensive. The table condiments like tsukemono and pickles were served without lids, which made me question the hygiene. I finished my meal with just the sashimi, rice, and miso soup.

It's been a while since I came to Tsukishima. I decided to have fish for lunch, so I headed straight here. The fish here is delicious. There are also many side dishes, and the salted squid is excellent! And it's free. Today, I had the chef's special set meal. It was grilled horse mackerel. The grilling was superb. The sweet potato tempura was also delicious. The miso soup was red miso. The rice was also tasty. Thank you for the meal!

I visited around 1 pm on a weekday after reading the reviews of Mairevi-san. The restaurant is located near Tsukishima Station, on the corner of a large building with a terrace or outdoor table where an older man was having lunch. The interior of the restaurant was surprisingly spacious with several counter and table seats. I was planning to order the sashimi set meal and shishamo, but the staff strongly recommended the Sanma set meal for March and a sashimi platter. The Sanma set meal arrived in no time, followed quickly by the sashimi platter. There were pickled radish, salted squid, and unlimited rice as side dishes. The Sanma had more fat than I expected and was delicious. The sashimi platter included medium fatty tuna, horse mackerel, and scallops, which were all decent. There were about 5 staff members, with half of them being foreign staff who were all cheerful and friendly. The restaurant also sold dried fish, but I was in the middle of work so I didn't buy any and left. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the Assorted Lunch B and requested extra rice (+100 yen). The rice was generously served in the bowl, taking advantage of the surface tension. The horse mackerel was soaked in soy sauce and ginger, making it a great match with the extra rice. As I progressed through the meal, I jointed the condiments on the table and enjoyed the salted squid. Even after finishing all the horse mackerel, there was no need to worry. The somewhat sad BGM playing in the background, reminiscent of a temple in Southeast Asia, was a bit distracting, but the meal was delicious. Thank you for the feast.

On a Saturday afternoon, most customers were eating set meals when I arrived. Surprisingly, the staff at the restaurant were all from Nepal. I enjoyed sashimi, oden, and black Hoppy. I was happy that they accepted credit cards! The daikon in the oden was deliciously flavorful.

This is my first time using this service. After enjoying the ship at Chuo-ku Marugoto Museum, I went from Kachidoki to Tsukishima. I found this shop while wandering around. The name of the shop is easy to understand (lol).
Time of entry: Sunday, 11:30 am. It was a relatively early time, but about half of the shop was full of customers, yet I was able to sit down right away.
What I ordered this time: Today's chef's special set meal B - squid rice bowl for 850 yen. It was a squid rice bowl with plenty of squid. The squid was soft and delicious. There were three types of rice toppings on the table: shredded dried baby sardines, squid shiokara, and pickled radish and kelp (?). Other tables had seaweed tsukudani, etc.
After eating the squid rice bowl, I also had the squid shiokara, and I was completely satisfied with the squid.
At other tables, there seemed to be a gathering of locals, but even though it was only 11:30, the atmosphere was relaxed. I wonder when they started drinking? (lol)
I thought it was a good shop loved by the locals. The shop owner was also friendly and provided pleasant service. Thank you for the meal~
