There is a bench at the entrance where you can wait, and there is a water tank with paper cups for service. The place is fully packed. I bought a loaf of Pain de Mie sliced into 5 pieces. I also purchased croissants, cream bread, and red bean paste bread. The cream bread was excellent, with a refined sweetness in the custard cream.

Even if you go in the evening, there are many types of bread! Some people use it for dinner too. Next time, I want to buy focaccia and brioche. Viennoiserie Chocolate for ¥220 is soft bread with plenty of chocolate chips, even though I thought it would be hard bread.

As of May 2023, a potential top 100 restaurant with a rating of 3.60! It's a cafe bar that mostly does takeout at night, but also offers dine-in options. It's almost like a bakery, with some alcohol available as well. On a holiday after 6pm, there were no customers already seated, but a few for takeout. However, there were no dine-in customers. It seems like it's more popular during the day. [What we ordered] Parisian hot dog ¥880, Orange iced tea ¥700. The dine-in menu is a bit limited. We came here with the intention of having drinks, but weren't too impressed. (Sorry) However, the sausage had a strong herbal flavor. I thought, "Maybe I should have paired this with wine," but it was too late. I love Mizukami Seisakusho, the shop where the chef here trained, so I decided to visit the "original" shop. If you're not looking to drink and just want to buy bread, this place is for you. Otherwise, I think Mizukami Seisakusho would be better for those looking to have drinks. Thank you for the meal.

It was raining and past lunchtime, but the place was crowded and I had to wait in the rain for a while. While waiting, I looked at the menu to decide what to order and took some photos of the stylish exterior, which made the wait enjoyable. There were many delicious-looking breads in the showcase, so I bought some to take home and some to eat in the shop. I can't remember the name, but the ham and butter sandwich was delicious. It went well with the strong coffee! I ended up staying longer than planned because of the lovely atmosphere. It's not often you find such a nice place. I was happy to buy lots of bread!

The bread was really delicious. I especially loved the cream-flavored toast. Next time, I want to enjoy both eating at the cafe and taking bread home. The staff were friendly and made my time there enjoyable.

During weekdays at 12 o'clock, there's always a line. I ordered the lunch set with steamed chicken and bean salad, plus a small soup for an additional 350 yen. The carrot potage soup that came with the set was delicious. The salad was very filling and tasty. They offer free refills on bread, and since there's a bakery attached, you can also do takeout.

I dropped by in the evening and was seated right away. We ordered the potage soup, which was quite large, so we planned to share it between two people. However, when it was brought to us, it was already divided into two portions, which was very thoughtful. The soup, which I believe was carrot, had a hint of cumin or some other spice that paired well with the bread. The aioli was delicious when dipped with the baguette. I noticed a sign mentioning that if you buy the bread in the shape of a lark, a donation would be made to Kyiv, Ukraine, so I bought one to take home. I wanted to buy more bread to take home, but it was quite sold out as it was already late at night. I plan to come back during the day next time. We also had some wine, and the staff explained it to us in a friendly manner. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

On the second day of my Kyoto trip, I planned to wake up early but ended up oversleeping and having brunch instead. I arrived at "Ane" near Karasuma Oike around noon. There was already one group waiting. I waited on the bench outside, and the staff brought me the menu to order in advance. I ordered the Soup Set with Orange Juice (¥1,050). Unfortunately, the mushroom potage was sold out, so it was replaced with Seigoin Daikon soup. Soon, I was guided inside the restaurant. The showcase near the entrance displayed a variety of delicious-looking bread. Many customers were coming in just to buy bread. It's a popular place! The Seigoin Daikon soup had a gentle flavor with plenty of croutons. It was a delicious Kyoto-style soup with a satisfying amount. The salad was a green salad. I thought it would be more balanced with carrots and tomatoes, but it's tough in these times of high prices. There were three types of bread, including Campagne and Baguette. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, truly delicious. You can have seconds for free, but I was already full, so I didn't get any. I sat by the window and could see the line outside, so I left shortly after eating. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

A bakery and cafe on the west side of Karasuma Oike Station, facing Shijo-dori. Visited for the first time on a weekend afternoon and got some bread to go. Got the following: - Chestnut and Hojicha Kampani 430 yen (tax included): Hojicha-scented brown dough with crushed chestnuts that are subtly sweet. - Anko Hokkaido Azuki Red Bean Bread 230 yen - Kinako Kinako Bread 190 yen - Honey Butter 210 yen: Cube-shaped bread with honey and butter soaked into the dough. Very delicious bread. Would like to come back for lunch sometime.

Bakery. I heard rumors that it's delicious, so I jumped at the chance. I ordered the "homemade red bean butter toast" that was featured today. My companion ordered the "vanilla sugar and salted butter crepe." The red bean butter toast was amazing. I used to eat it often at a certain chain store. But the toast here is different, it's soft, sweet, and delicious. Definitely not like the chain store! It's hard to come across red bean butter toast this delicious... Around 4:00 PM, a staff member said, "Here are freshly baked croissants." Huh? Freshly baked? I had to try it. I quickly ordered a croissant. The freshly baked croissant was warm, soft, sweet, and had just the right amount of buttery saltiness... absolutely amazing. After 4:00 PM, the number of customers increased rapidly. There was a sudden influx of takeout customers. It seems like the regulars know that you can eat freshly baked bread at 4:00 PM. It was delicious. I would like to try eating lunch there next time!

I went for lunch a little after 11:30. I was able to enter without waiting in line! The bread was delicious as rumored. I had a relaxing time and felt healed. The staff's customer service was polite and the atmosphere was pleasant. As the line started to form little by little, I left early. I found another restaurant I want to visit again! Thank you very much (*^_^*)

My friend lined up before the opening, but there were already several groups waiting. This time, we spent time inside the restaurant instead of on the terrace, and the atmosphere was great! I love bread, so I was excited. Since the day of our visit was hot, the staff thanked us several times for waiting in the heat, which made me happy. I ordered a salad and bread set, and just that filled me up and left me satisfied. Next time, I want to visit and sit on the terrace!

During lunchtime at GW, the restaurant is quite crowded with young women. I didn't have the energy to wait in line, so I got a takeaway bread. The Gorgonzola and walnut bread itself is crispy on the outside but softer than I expected. The crunch from the walnuts is good, but I wish the Gorgonzola flavor was stronger. I wanted more of a cheesy smell. I don't usually eat cream puffs, but they looked really delicious so I bought one. It has a thin crust with a good amount of custard inside. The size is just right. The sweetness is perfect for this amount. I think it would be too heavy if there was more cream. Payment is cash only, which is a bit inconvenient. Overall, it was a good meal.

The line was crazy long, must be a popular place. But since it was for takeout, I was able to buy without waiting in line. They had a sign saying to go straight in for takeout customers, which was really helpful! So, I bought a chocolate bread. It was a bit pricey, but totally worth it. It had lots of macadamia nuts inside, even more than the ones you get as souvenirs from Hawaii. Oh man, it was delicious! And it really fills you up because of all the nuts.

Visited the restaurant on a public holiday at 1 pm. There was a long line, so it was easy to locate the place. Since I had no other plans for the day, I decided to wait in line, but I was able to enter the restaurant just before 3 pm. I waited for almost 2 hours (laughs). I was worried if I would be able to enter before the lunchtime deadline of 3 pm. On this day, only 5 seats were available inside as the terrace seats were not set up. While waiting in line, I was given the menu and my order was taken, so the service was quick once I entered. I ordered the soup of the day lunch set (880 yen) and added a hot tea for an additional 100 yen. The soup of the day was pumpkin potage. There were 3 types of bread, and the cream bread in the middle was especially delicious. It was good on its own or dipped in the soup. It was nice to have a salad included. After finishing the meal, I paid at the counter (cash only). The staff provided polite service from start to finish. I would like to visit again when I have a relaxing day on a weekday.

I finally got to go to a place that my friend recommended and I've been wanting to visit for a while! It seemed popular as there was a line during lunchtime on a weekday. The interior of the restaurant had a nostalgic atmosphere and was very calming. It looked like it would be nice to eat on the terrace seats on warm days. I chose a set menu that came with salad and soup. The salad had a soft-boiled egg on top and was delicious and filling. I was happy that I could have seconds of bread, but I really wanted to try the ham and fermented butter bread that was available as a single item, but it was probably not available that day, so I hope to try it next time. When I ordered the soup, I was told that it was sold out, but the staff kindly suggested splitting one order into two for us since there were two of us, which I appreciated.

I wanted to eat a sweet sandwich ✨ The cream had a rich cheesy taste. The small square bread-like thing had honey inside and was delicious. It's a bit pricey, but I want to visit again.

If you head out to the Karasuma-Oike area for lunch, you must visit "Année" if you love bread. Even though there was a wait for 2 groups, I waited. While waiting, I looked at the menu and decided on the "Today's Quiche (Salad + Bread)" (780 yen). There were hot days, so I also ordered a beer (300 yen). The quiche was always soft and had a good portion, perfect with beer! And the bread was refillable, with a soft and simple delicious dough that I had seconds of. The atmosphere, as well as the kind vibes from the owner Tsubokura-san and the staff, will soothe you. Thank you for the meal.

Visited in June 2021. The bakery & cafe "Année" near Karasuma Oike. Today's quiche (shrimp and broccoli) for 780 yen. Comes with salad and bread. The interior was filled with young women. The display case had delicious-looking sandwiches and cakes. The lunch menu comes with bread but you can't choose. It might be a bit light on volume for men. The one plate had salad, quiche, and bread. The quiche was hot and fluffy. It had a slightly salty taste which paired well with the bread. I had seconds of focaccia, milk bread, and country bread. Surprisingly, I got quite full with the bread refills! Thank you for the meal.
