Located a 3-minute walk from JR Shinbashi Station Ginza Exit, it is located in the basement of Ginza Nine 2nd building. Established in 1970 as the Tokyo branch of Nagasaki Yoshimune, founded in 1866, it has a history of over half a century. The interior of the restaurant is long and narrow, with tables lined up. They mainly serve Nagasaki local cuisine along with alcohol. - Plate Udon Thin Noodles (8/17/2023): A thick sauce covers the crispy noodles. It contains various ingredients such as cabbage, bean sprouts, wood ear mushrooms, shrimp, pork, and fish cake. The sauce is a salty base made from chicken and pork, with lard adding a mild richness to the overall flavor. - Jako Tempura (8/17/2023): Fish from Nagasaki is ground into a paste and made into tempura. The taste of fish and the crispy texture spread in the mouth. The refreshing spiciness of yuzu pepper goes well with it. - Spicy Lotus Root (8/17/2023): Lotus root is stuffed with plenty of spicy seeds and fried. It has a crispy texture and a good balance of spiciness. Surprisingly, it's not too spicy and very easy to eat. - Flying Fish Kamaboko Roll (8/17/2023): Kamaboko unique to the Nagasaki region, wrapped in a straw. The flavor and rich taste of flying fish spread in the mouth. It's best to enjoy it simply with wasabi soy sauce. - Iwanaka Pork Stew (8/17/2023): It has a melting texture and is cooked tenderly. It has a rich taste of pork belly and a sweet taste of fat. The sweet and savory seasoning makes it very delicious. - Homemade Pickles (8/17/2023): Assortment of turnips, cucumbers, and carrots. The aroma of pickling is good, and it's not too salty. The saltiness is just right. - Otoshi (8/17/2023): Mozuku vinegar. It has a smooth and bouncy texture. The gentle dashi with kelp is delicious. - Yoshimune Lemon Sour (8/17/2023): A frozen lemon cut into a whole piece is placed in a jug. It is not sweet, and you can taste the refreshing acidity of lemon directly. It goes well with shochu, making it refreshing. - Refill Sour (8/17/2023): Refilling the contents at other stores is usually associated with shochu only. Here, carbonated shochu is served in a glass. Pour it into the jug with lemon yourself, and it's delicious as it is. The delicious Nagasaki cuisine is available even during lunchtime. I definitely want to try it. Thank you for the meal.

From Shinbashi to the basement of Ginza Nine, there is a well-established restaurant called "Ginza Kichisou" founded in 1970, which was also introduced in the TV show "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai". When I arrived around 12 o'clock on Saturday, there was a long line. I wrote my name on the waiting board and waited for about 30 minutes. I ordered a set of small plate udon and chawanmushi, as well as the steamed pudding unique to the chawanmushi shop. Dessert is a must, right? The chawanmushi was smooth and silky, with ingredients like fish cake and ginkgo nuts inside. It also had tender chicken meat and a rich broth that was absolutely delicious. The small plate udon arrived, with plenty of shrimp and crispy thin noodles. You can enjoy changing the flavor by adding mustard or udon sauce on the table. Finally, the awaited pudding arrived. Lemon jelly was used instead of caramel, adding a nice touch of acidity to the smooth pudding. It was a delicious treat for a tired stomach in the summer. Thank you for the meal.

Nagasaki cuisine at Yosso. Yosso, with its main store in Nagasaki, was established in 1866 and is currently run by the sixth generation. The Ginza branch was founded in 1970, the year of the Osaka Expo! Located in a building with Café Paulista in Ginza 8-chome, it relocated here in 2021. It is one of the eateries connected to an underground passage under the highway, exuding a strong Showa era atmosphere. One of the most popular dishes at our restaurant is the oversized chawanmushi. It's more like a donburi-style steamed dish. On this day, I stopped by for lunch before heading to the government office. Chawanmushi set meal (1,520 yen tax included) includes sashimi, side dishes, chawanmushi, rice, and pickles. Nagasaki is also known for champon and kamaboko. The green and pink kamaboko were served, but the green one had sunk (laughs). The taste of the chawanmushi was quite ordinary. The sashimi included kibinago, hamachi, a very Kyushu-style combination. The side dish of seaweed stem and okra in soy sauce with yuzu pepper flavor was perfect for pouring over the extra rice. For a nutritious, easy-to-digest lunch in Shinbashi, this place comes highly recommended.

The experience started with the disappointment of the "Fuufu mushi" being sold out already around 12:20 pm, so it couldn't be helped. I regained my composure and ordered the thick noodle plate udon and chawanmushi set instead! I always choose thick noodles when eating udon at a restaurant. I've had hundreds of bowls before! It's my favorite menu. The chawanmushi was fine, although the sweet sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. However, the noodles in the udon dish that came with the set... I felt it was disrespectful to call it udon noodles. Upon closer inspection later, I noticed that it was a limited edition menu using noodles imported from Nagasaki. It was too late when I realized this. I had planned to visit the main store in Nagasaki, but due to a transfer and the pandemic, it seems like one of my retirement pleasures might be disappearing. If possible, please consider changing the name or discontinuing this menu. Otherwise, the memory of udon noodles might be forever tainted by this incorrect taste. I understand that Tokyo has different regulations regarding water content compared to Kyushu, but I believe it is possible to source noodles that are closer to the authentic ones.

Chawanmushi at Ginza Yoshisuke (Yosso) couple steamed dish (meotomushi) ¥1600 Limited to 20 servings Chawanmushi is delicious with flavorful broth! The San-Shoku Donburi was surprisingly delicious, even better than expected! I think many people would want to try the San-Shoku Donburi alone.

I visited the restaurant for the first time since it moved to Ginza Nine. It feels like it's about half the size of the previous location. The sashimi of kibinago had slightly white flesh, which was disappointing, but everything else was perfect. The chawanmushi was limited in quantity, so I ordered it when making a reservation. The crispy texture of the plate udon was delightful, making it a great place for a light meal. It was delicious.

After a long time, I had dinner at "Kichizo Ginza Store". It was my first time visiting the new location from the Nagasaki Center Building basement. The famous chawanmushi was delicious as always. Highly recommended. I ended up eating too many appetizers today and couldn't even reach the plate udon, which was a shame.

Today's lunch was at "Yoshimune" in Ginza. It's a popular restaurant with long lines forming even before it opens. They are known for their chawanmushi and steamed sushi in Nagasaki. I ordered the limited "couple steamed dish". Two hot bowls were served, one with chawanmushi and the other with steamed sushi. The colors are vibrant. The steamed sushi had three colors: kinshi tamago, minced white fish, and eel soboro. It was really delicious. The chawanmushi had a large and gentle flavor. It was really tasty.

① When I arrived around 13:24 on Friday, I found out that white rice and thick noodles were sold out and the menu outside had a notice about it. ② Since it was my first visit, I'm not sure if this is the usual situation after the Bon Festival or if it's always like this. ③ I suddenly decided to come here, and although I originally wanted to try the steamed couple dish, it was sold out. I also saw a lot of reviews about thin noodles for the plate udon on my way here, so now I'm craving for crispy plate udon! Well, the steamed couple dish is ¥1600, while the plate udon and chawanmushi set is around ¥1920-1940, but if I go for a small portion, it's actually cheaper at around ¥1620-1640. So, today I'll go for the small portion set to try it out. ④ There were condiments like ground mustard, vinegar, Kincho sauce?, pepper, soy sauce, etc. on the table. I poured them nicely over the plate udon and also had a big bowl of chawanmushi in between. Isn't the chawanmushi delicious? I love moisture, so maybe that's why I liked it, with a bit more liquid but not too watery, and the broth was flavorful with various ingredients that came up as I ate. It became my favorite chawanmushi. The plate udon was just average with the crispy thin noodles that I usually avoid, but since it's been a long time since I last had it (maybe 3-5 years ago?), it wasn't bad. I recently learned that things taste better when you eat them after a long break, so I might not enjoy the thin noodles as much if I have them again soon. But today, since the thick noodles were sold out, I had to settle for it, but it turned out well. ⑥ The customers in the restaurant were mostly older, with some middle-aged people as well. Maybe this menu appeals more to the older generation, which is why the prices are a bit on the higher side. Overall, the chawanmushi was very satisfying. The plate udon is something I want to try with thick noodles next time, but I might end up ordering the steamed couple dish again next time, so it might be a while before I encounter the thick noodles. The chawanmushi, which is usually a side dish, turned out to be a main attraction! It's really good.

Today, before starting telework at 9:20, I went to Ginza Hachigo to get a ticket, but they had already finished distributing the tickets by 9 o'clock. After my morning meeting, I went to Ginza Tanmen, but they were still on summer vacation. There was a long line at Tonkatsu Ogin in Ginza 8-chome, so I decided to try my luck at Yoshimune Ginza store to see if they still had their limited dish, thick noodle udon. Surprisingly, they still had it! Even though it was always sold out whenever I passed by in the past, I felt like it was fate that I visited two days in a row. Today, I ordered the thick noodle udon without chawanmushi for 1040 yen, with an extra 100 yen for a large serving. Unlike regular noodles, the thick noodles are made using "karaaku" (alkaline water) which can only be used in Nagasaki prefecture due to its short shelf life, making it a limited item. The thick noodles had a different texture compared to regular noodles, with a good chewiness and a substantial volume. This can be a matter of preference between thin and thick noodles, but personally, I enjoy both!

Nagasaki Yoshimune, famous for its chawanmushi, has reopened in the basement of Ginza Nine at the end of last year. When I went there once, it was sold out, so I decided to try it again for a solo lunch. I couldn't bring myself to order the expensive chawanmushi, so I opted for the plate udon instead. Even though it was a large portion, it only cost 1,120 yen. It came with 14 different ingredients such as vegetables, seafood, and meat, and the combination of crispy noodles and sauce was excellent. I also enjoyed changing up the flavors with the addition of Kincho sauce, vinegar, and mustard. I had no problem finishing the whole dish.

I visited the restaurant at 11:20 am on a regular day and there were already 7-8 groups of people lining up for the 11:30 am opening. The restaurant had a simple exterior with a traditional Japanese atmosphere. I tried the "Meoto-mushi" set for 1600 yen, which includes a large bowl of steamed egg custard with 9 different ingredients, as well as 3 types of steamed sushi on a slightly sweet vinegar rice. The steamed egg custard was soft and jiggly, and the steamed sushi had a nice variety of flavors. The portion sizes were generous and the flavors were delicious, making it a satisfying meal.

This is a branch of the super popular restaurant Yoshisuke in Nagasaki city, known for their steamed egg custard. It seems they have become independent but continue to operate in the same style. This time, I tried their famous steamed egg custard and plate udon. They also had Nagasaki's Kincho sauce available for the plate udon. The steamed egg custard was full of ingredients and had a rich broth, very delicious. The plate udon was also tasty.

This is a restaurant located in the basement of Shinbashi Station with a large chawanmushi and plate udon. It used to be closer to Ginza but seems to have moved. Order: Plate udon small serving (thick noodles) and chawanmushi set 1,640 yen. You can choose between crispy noodles or thick noodles for the plate udon. It had plenty of ingredients and a slightly sweet sauce. The chawanmushi was soft and also had large pieces of ingredients. The small serving was just right.

Ginza Yoshisuke: Plate Udon and Chawanmushi for ¥1,920, Yoshisuke Lemon Sour for ¥550. Located in Ginza Nine B1 dining area, this restaurant had the longest line among all the eateries. The Chawanmushi was about three times larger than usual and incredibly delicious! I love Chawanmushi, so I was thrilled with the size. They warned me that it was hot, but I still burned my tongue when I took a big scoop. The large Chawanmushi also had generously sized ingredients inside. The Plate Udon had the perfect crispy texture and the right amount of thick sauce. I had Plate Udon at Haneda Airport's Ringer Hut recently, and the sauce was so thick it was almost like solid food (laughs). Even though the Chawanmushi was about three times larger, I wish I could have eaten three bowls of it. I would love to try filling up on just Chawanmushi next time. #GinzaLunch #GinzaNine #GinzaYoshisuke #Yoshisuke #ChawanmushiYoshisuke #Chawanmushi #PlateUdon #ThinNoodles #PersonalGourmetMemoirs #FoodDiary

At the beginning of the year, I had chawanmushi at Kichisou, and now, six months later, I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms. I have a strong craving for the chawanmushi, a bowl-sized steamed egg dish with flavorful broth. Kichisou also serves plate udon, and they offer a special combo set with a small portion of plate udon and chawanmushi. They really understand the psychology of people who come here. The only choice is to order this set, where you can enjoy both dishes. Ah, this is it. The broth seeps into my brain. They are also famous for their whale dishes, a hidden gem. It brings back childhood memories. I can enjoy it without having to return to Nagasaki. How grateful. I will definitely go back.

I visited on a regular night. I had made a reservation about 2 weeks ago, but it was fully booked on the day. Surprising. This place is famous for its couple's steamed dish, but they only serve 20 servings, so it seems like it ends at lunchtime. On this day, I had some snacks as I was going to drink alcohol. The pork stew was very tender. The whale red meat sashimi was the best! It tasted like horse meat! It had a sticky texture or sweetness. Anyway, it was the best! Daikon and scallop salad had a daikon taste. It's like a slightly thinned out macaroni salad. It's delicious, but if you order expecting a daikon salad, it's different. Rolled sushi, burdock roll. The white one is rolled sushi. Be careful, the pasta-like thing on top is not food. This is rolled sushi, I think. Tea-steamed egg custard (seems like you need to order when making a reservation) It's delicious and big with lots of ingredients. But the taste is a bit strong. Maybe because they also serve alcohol? Plate udon (thin fried noodles) There are also stir-fried thick noodles. But I think the thick noodles are limited to a few servings. I think it's a good place to have a quick drink. Thank you for the meal.

I had been to Yoshimune in Nagasaki many times, but always missed out on trying it. I finally found out it had moved to Shinbashi and decided to go. Even though I arrived at 10:25, there was already a line. When we entered, there were about 30 people waiting. We ordered the couple's steamed dish and the Yoshimune set meal. The food was served quickly, but it was smaller than expected. The couple's steamed dish didn't come on a tray. The sashimi and braised pork in the set meal were delicious but a bit small for the price. I think it's a bit expensive. It seems like the long line is mainly due to TV exposure. Many people were also eating plate udon, which was also small. It's great that it's back, but if the cost performance doesn't improve, I probably won't come back. Also, serving the food without a tray at that price? I think the service could be better.

I would recommend those who like a loose and moist chawanmushi to visit around 5:15 pm on a Friday afternoon. There were only about two groups of customers already seated when I arrived, and there were plenty of empty seats. I left the restaurant at 5:48 pm, and it was still quiet inside. It seems that it may get busier later in the evening. I ordered the chawanmushi for 970 yen, the thin noodle plate udon for 1,120 yen, and a small draft beer for 480 yen. The sushi steamed in a cup was already sold out for lunch, which was surprising considering it's one of their signature dishes. The boiled tuna served as a beer snack was quite salty, but it did go well with the beer. The udon arrived on a large plate, but the portion wasn't as big as it seemed. It was my first time trying the thin noodles instead of the thick ones, and I found the flavor to be more pronounced and it paired well with the savory sauce. The crispy texture was also enjoyable. Finally, the chawanmushi arrived, and it was just as I like it - with plenty of broth and a hot temperature. It had a large piece of tender chicken, which was delicious. I paid with PayPay as they only accept electronic payments.

I arrived a little before the usual opening time and there was already a line. It's really popular. A few months ago, when I peeked in, there were about 20 people waiting so I gave up, but this time there were only about 10 people, and they let us in earlier than the opening time. There were still some empty seats, but by the time they opened, it was almost full. I ordered the limited quantity couple steamed dish for 1600 yen, which is a set of the famous chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) and steamed sushi. After a few minutes, two large bowls appeared! I've never seen such a large chawanmushi before. When I opened the lid, it was still piping hot! The chawanmushi didn't seem to cool down at all despite the self-warming feature, so I had to cool it with the spoon before taking a bite. It was so delicious that I couldn't wait and ended up burning my mouth a bit while eating, but the intense flavor was worth it. The steamed sushi was sweet and tasty. Enjoying both dishes made me feel warm and cozy. It felt nostalgic even though it was my first time here. Next time, I think I'll try the plate udon and chawanmushi. Thank you for the delicious meal!

It was a visit after 15 years in the blink of an eye! I remember being deeply impressed when I had chawanmushi on the main street of Ginza over 15 years ago. I saw a review mentioning that it is located in the basement of the Shimbashi Building, so I went there right away. I visited in the early afternoon and it was almost full with a clientele that included not only salarymen but also many women, and the overall customer base seemed upscale. The service was prompt and the staff was friendly. There were low boxes behind the seats where you could place your bags and belongings while looking at the menu. The popular items seemed to be the plate udon brass set and the chawanmushi set. The husband and wife steamed rice bowl and chawanmushi set were particularly popular. It seems that after being featured on a recent TV show, the restaurant has been even busier with customers. I had chawanmushi for the first time in 15 years! The light broth soup and smooth egg custard were just as good as I remembered. The side sashimi was fresh and it made for a great lunch. I will definitely visit again.
