I visited a popular conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Kokura recommended by a local. I went there for lunch on a weekday around 12 pm. It was crowded, and I had to wait a bit, but the waiting list kept growing, indicating its popularity. I tried buri (yellowtail, 150 yen), hirame (flounder), spear squid, Kanmon Strait octopus, pickled sardines (each 250 yen), a clam soup with lots of ingredients (300 yen), cod milt gunkan sushi (350 yen), and Kitakyushu abalone (400 yen). The restaurant is operated by a seafood company, so the prices are reasonable, but the highlight is the freshness from direct market delivery. I was particularly surprised by the abalone, which they farm themselves. It was so fresh that it was still moving on the gunkan sushi. It was a bit intimidating, but I had to eat it. The pickled sardines were also enjoyable, with a mild flavor that is easy to eat. For travelers or business people who want to try Kokura's specialty pickled sardines, this restaurant is a good choice. It's a great place to enjoy seafood affordably in Kokura, with a variety of options and wallet-friendly prices.

The cost performance was excellent. The fact that such large pieces of sushi were only 300 yen is a great deal. Especially the super fresh amberjack and yellowtail were exquisite, and for 200 yen, it's hard to find in other shops. I couldn't eat a lot because I was hopping around different restaurants, but I wanted to eat more of the rich taste of the medium-fatty tuna. If I had to nitpick, the tuna's top part and rare parts were sold out, so I want to try those next time.

Before attending a live event in Kitakyushu, it's a good idea to grab a bite to eat at "Katsushi no Tora," a revolving sushi market run by a fish wholesaler. You can place your order using a tablet, and the sushi will be delivered to you on a Shinkansen train. I tried the Kitakyushu abalone, flounder, salmon trout, medium fatty tuna, tuna cheek meat, sea bream, caught horse mackerel, sea urchin, and whale bacon. I also enjoyed a chawanmushi (savory egg custard) dish. The freshness of the fish is exceptional, as expected from a fishmonger-run establishment. When it comes to sushi in Kokura, known as the "pre-Kita-Kyushu," high-end sushi is famous, but this revolving sushi restaurant is more than enough.

It is a system where you order on a tablet and the plates arrive on a tray right in front of you. The sushi is fresh and large. The rice is smaller compared to the size of the fish, and the fish is just placed on top of the rice without being pressed, making it a bit difficult to eat. Sashimi or smaller sushi pieces are easier to eat. The sushi rolls and hand rolls are easy to eat and good. The abalone is better when cooked rather than raw as it moves when raw.

I have been going to Otaru for over 30 years, but I visited for the first time based on everyone's reviews. The sushi was big and fresh, with small rice portions to enjoy the toppings. I ordered a drink, but had to wait a bit because there was only one staff member for the outside tables. However, considering the quality of the sushi, it was okay.

This sushi restaurant is located at the entrance of the morning market and is known for its high rarity due to quickly selling out of ingredients. It often closes early, so it's a matter of luck whether you can visit, but it's a fantastic sushi restaurant with great value. It became a hot topic among gourmet enthusiasts as soon as it opened, but rumors often spread that it has closed down due to frequent closures. On the other hand, people who have only eaten 100 yen sushi may say it smells fishy or the portions are too big, but all the dishes here have a great seafood flavor. They pride themselves on using market-fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the freshness is truly unmatched. While tuna being delicious is common, the deliciousness of sardines here is surprising. Their specialty is super fresh ingredients, especially the yellowtail and striped jack, which are all exceptionally delicious. Even the less outstanding dishes come in generous portions, which is satisfying. Their fried dishes and side dishes are also delicious, especially the farmed abalone from Kitakyushu. They serve large-sized sushi, about 1.5 times the size of Sushiro's, so you can feel full with 5-7 plates compared to the usual 8-10 plates. Despite the higher prices, the cost performance is incredibly good. There are some unnecessary gimmicks, like gachapon, at adult prices, but the wasabi here is very tasty, although the rice and soy sauce may not match the quality of the ingredients. Overall, this is a highly recommended sushi restaurant in Kitakyushu, especially for those visiting from other areas.

This sushi is very fresh and large, with some types being harder to chew. People with strong teeth will enjoy it. There are also softer types of sushi available. I visited with high expectations and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The abalone, tuna, and Kuruma shrimp were amazing. I was very satisfied with my experience.

The dishes are large and have a lot of volume, giving a sense of value. The red meat sushi made with rare Koju beef was delicious. Another highlight was the marbled part of the Kumamoto black wagyu. This popular conveyor belt sushi restaurant can have long waits depending on the time. I accidentally ordered a live small abalone, but it looked too fresh for me to eat, so my husband had it instead.

The restaurant opens at 11 am on weekdays with no waiting time. The abalone costs 400 yen, sazae costs 400 yen, steamed oysters cost 350 yen, and seafood gunkan costs 350 yen. The abalone seems to be from Kitakyushu, and when you squeeze lemon on it, it still moves! It is very fresh and delicious, with no unpleasant taste. It already has a salty flavor, so it seems fine without soy sauce. It's amazing that they can offer fresh abalone at this price! I ordered another plate because it was so delicious! The steamed oysters were large and satisfying to eat, with a delicious flavor. The sazae and seafood also had plenty of meat, and I ate them separately from the rice. The wasabi was also fresh and had a nice touch of quality while being reasonably priced. Four plates and eight pieces cost around 2000 yen. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^

The sushi at this restaurant is all thick and big, not like the quality you'd find at a conveyor belt sushi place. It's so delicious, almost like it's made for kids. My child always wants to go to conveyor belt sushi places, but the quality of the fish is usually not great. This time, we found a good spot though. And to top it off, they had a gachapon machine too which was the best! 🍣🎰

Of course, in a good way! I was strolling around sightseeing, and just as I was feeling a bit thirsty and needing to prevent heatstroke, it was also necessary to replenish fluids. I wasn't really hungry, but to satisfy my hunger, I decided to go to a sushi restaurant for some delicious fish and beer. I didn't ask for too much (I didn't really ask for anything...), I just came as a customer who wouldn't bring in much profit. It was not during the busy lunch hour, so please forgive me. It's a small restaurant with only a counter where the sushi rotates. I had a quick cup of tea before the order arrived... Soon, two plates of affordable sushi arrived, along with two small glasses of draft beer. It was much more cost-effective than having sweets at a nice cafe. The sushi with good quality fish and a small beer was just the right break I needed!

The portions were generous and satisfying. It was a shame that many items were sold out. It felt like more than half of the menu was unavailable, so the variety was lacking. The scallops were so fresh and delicious, they reminded me of ones I had in Hokkaido. The miso soup was also really tasty. It made me crave some plain white rice.

Visited the store with 2 people in June 2023 at 16:00. Entered during Happy Hour (15:00-17:00) where beer is half price. Ordered using a tablet. The small size of the draft beer was disappointing, so switched to a large size. The chilled beer in a mug was delicious. Took advantage of the Happy Hour deal and ordered 2 small and 7 large draft beers. The price of one Happy Hour beer was unclear on the receipt. Perhaps the large size was equivalent to 350 yen per glass? The sushi was generously sized. The total bill came to 8,745 yen (tax included). Played the gacha machine twice with coins next to the register. PayPay was not accepted, but credit cards were.

As a weekend treat, I decided to visit a high-end sushi restaurant in the afternoon. I arrived 10 minutes before the opening time, only to find a line of over 10 people already waiting. I managed to get in on the first round. Today, they had Spanish mackerel available. However, I've noticed that they haven't had their one-bite series and battered dishes available recently (always under preparation).

After lunch on the third day in Hakata, before the evening YOASOBI concert, I decided to eat something from the Genkai Sea at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Kokura. I started with a live abalone, which was delicious. Then I had some golden eye snapper. Everything was really tasty. They were out of items like flounder fin and okoze, so I tried fugu and whale, which I haven't had much at sushi restaurants before. Finished off with a platter of turban shell, it was amazing. Fukuoka really does have delicious food. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

On Sunday, I visited Kokura for the day and the highlight was the conveyor belt sushi for lunch! There are many delicious sushi restaurants in Kitakyushu City and I have several recommendations, but for conveyor belt sushi, this place is currently the best! It's easier to get in if you go outside of lunch hours, but be careful because it gets really crowded during lunchtime and dinner!

Today I was in the mood for sushi from the morning. I couldn't decide whether to go to the market to buy or eat, but I ended up heading to Katsushi no Tora. It's very popular, so I decided to visit right when they opened. When I arrived right after opening, the counter was already full. However, since it's a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, the turnover is fast so the wait time was only about 10-15 minutes. Since it's directly managed by a fish wholesaler in the market, all the fish is very fresh, and they have a lot of local ingredients as well as some rare ones that you don't see often, making it worth a visit. However, the prices are not limited to 100 yen per plate, so if you eat at the same pace as a chain restaurant, the bill can add up quickly, so be careful. Today, I had 10 plates and a bottle of beer for 3500 yen. It was a quite elegant Sunday afternoon.

When leaving Fukuoka, I wanted to have sushi at least once before going, so I searched for a place to try and found "Katsusushi no Tora". There was a paper outside the restaurant where you could write your name, so you could wait in line without having to stand there for a long time. The advantage is just that. However, when the ordered dishes arrived, it was difficult to tell what kind of sushi it was. There are many similar types of fish, and not all customers are experts. It's easy to imagine what would happen if you ordered several dishes at once, especially when using a single screen for the whole family. How would you confirm the order? Would you call the staff each time to ask? It's embarrassing to do that when you already ordered the food yourself. The touch panel system is too unreliable. The confirmation screen on the LCD only shows the orders that have been received, not the ones that have been served, making it confusing to know which dishes have arrived and which are still pending. Also, is there a way to see how much you have spent so far? Can you even check it? The sushi (or something that looks like sushi) with "sushi" in its name only seems worth it when it comes at a certain price point. Octopus, hirasu, kampachi - all disappointing. Are they trying to pass off thickness for quality? Anything below 300 yen seems like a thick, chewy rubbery mess. At this point, you can't even order the cheaper options. Even if you spend more, there's nothing that stands out. I didn't expect to find such a low-level restaurant in Fukuoka. This is my last meal in Kyushu, and it's really disappointing.

This rotating sushi restaurant is of high quality. The fish is big, fresh, and satisfying. The fish is so big that there is not much unity with the rice, but I left feeling full. There were many customers waiting outside when it opened at 11 AM.

I visited "Katsusushi no Tora" on Heiwa Street in Kitakyushu for lunch on a regular day. Right next to it is the Dan-Ka Market. I parked at a nearby coin parking lot. When I entered the restaurant, I was guided to the counter. I placed my order using a touch panel. I had warm tea, while my husband started with a beer and we also ordered a sashimi platter. Then we had tempura made with bamboo shoots, which was tender and delicious without any strong flavors. We then tried the local dish of simmered mackerel in miso, which was also tasty without being too overpowering. We enjoyed various types of sushi and even tried the fried tuna collar. Everything was really delicious. The counter had partitions, so we could enjoy our meal without worrying about the people next to us. When we paid, there were several groups waiting. It's a popular place. Thank you for the meal.

I ate at the first store properly, but when it comes to Kitakyushu, I wanted to eat fresh seafood so I visited. Since it was late, many menu items were sold out which was a bit disappointing. The fish was fresh and the portions were large, so I could enjoy it. I want to go earlier next time.
