Located near Fukuchiyama Station North Exit, this shop is just a few minutes' walk away, making it very convenient. If you are coming by car, head east from Fukuchiyama Kita-guchi Station and you will see "Sengyo no Maizuru-ya" on the north side of the street. Proceed north on that street and you will soon see the shop. As of May 21, 2023, the parking lot is not available, and a sign in front of the shop suggests using a nearby coin parking lot. The parking lot at Kohnan offers 2 hours of free parking, and it is not too far to walk, so using that option may be convenient. According to online information, the shop has resumed indoor dining, so I decided to visit after a long time. However, there was a sign saying "Takeout only" displayed. I wondered if they had stopped indoor dining again, but I decided to enter the shop anyway. When I asked the staff, they explained that indoor dining is only available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. They only serve 25 meals per day for indoor dining, and they distribute numbered tickets accordingly. Without a ticket, you cannot dine in. The tickets are distributed starting from 9:30 in the morning for the same day. The indoor dining menu includes only "tonkotsu" ramen. There is no mix or chuka soba available. The operating hours are from 12:00 to 14:00. As for takeout information, takeout is available from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 to 17:00. All ramen dishes are available for takeout, and the taste is as good as dining in. One advantage of takeout is that you can adjust the firmness of the noodles yourself. The instructions recommend boiling for 1.5 to 2 minutes, but I found 1 minute to be just right for me. The soup is frozen, but the ingredients are fresh, so be careful not to buy too much. While I couldn't confirm everything, the website indicates that the shop is operating normally, but due to the changing circumstances, it is recommended to check with the shop directly for the latest information. I enjoyed the takeout mix ramen. Thank you for the meal.

I went to get a numbered ticket one hour before the restaurant opened for dining in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday limited to the first 25 people. I got a ticket in the 10s and entered at 12:30. I ordered and my food came fairly quickly. The soup was very rich tonkotsu and it coated the noodles well. When I lifted the noodles, the soup came up with them too, which was funny. As I ate, I got into a loop of noodles -> soup -> rice -> soup -> noodles and finished it in no time. Even though it was a regular size ramen, it was satisfying. It's one of the ramen I want to eat again.

I arrived around 11 o'clock knowing that there were only 25 servings available and a ticket system in place. I was given a number in the middle for a 12:30 appointment. When I arrived on time, I was seated right away. The noodles were thinner than expected and the rich soup was exactly as I had hoped, it was amazing! I would love to go back again when I'm in the area!

This restaurant had been closed for a long time during the pandemic, but recently reopened for dine-in service on three days a week with a limit of 25 meals per day. I arrived at the restaurant a little after 9:00 AM, got a ticket, and waited until the opening time at 12:00 PM. When I returned 15 minutes before opening, there were already many people waiting in line. I ordered the "tonkotsu ramen" for 950 yen and waited for it to be served. The soup was thick and rich with a good balance of saltiness, and the noodles were firm and chewy, perfectly complementing the soup. The sliced pork chashu and bamboo shoots were plentiful and delicious. The condiments, both spicy and savory, enhanced the flavors of the soup. I recommend arriving early to get a ticket if you want to dine in at this popular spot.

I took a day off on a regular weekday and hopped on the limited express "Kounotori" to head to Fukuchiyama's "Tonkichi". As I imagined the long line, I approached the front of the shop only to find that some shutters were down and there was no line. Oh no... I did it again (´;ω;`) with tears in my eyes, but something seemed different. A sign at the entrance said, "We are only open for takeout". Inside, the tables and chairs were cleared out, and the landlady was handling takeout orders alone. I managed to get the "Tonkotsu" and "Mix" ramen. It seems that the owner has aged and due to the pandemic, it is uncertain whether the shop will reopen. I strongly hope that this precious gem of Fukuchiyama will overcome the coronavirus. When I got home, I immediately made the "Tonkotsu" ramen. The ingredients, carefully wrapped in plastic wrap, exuded warmth. Plus, there was plenty of chashu, menma, and green onions. The small container even had miso and chili pepper from the tableside pot. The creamy tonkotsu soup clung generously to the noodles, and I felt the weight in my hand holding the chopsticks. As I slurped the noodles, all I could think was "Delicious, happy". After finishing the noodles, I added brown rice and chili pepper to the remaining soup and polished it off. Thank you for the meal (^^)

Today I had a work appointment in Fukuchiyama. I arrived a little early, so I decided to have lunch. One of the top two ramen shops in Fukuchiyama that I haven't been to yet was closed today, so I went to the other one that I've tried before and enjoyed. I arrived about 30 minutes early and managed to get the last seat under the tent, although I was too far from the stove to feel its warmth (laughs). I ordered two bowls of ramen, one tonkotsu and one tonkotsu shoyu. The tonkotsu ramen was served first, so I started with that. The noodles in the shoyu ramen were medium thick and straight. The chashu was plentiful. I felt a little unsure starting with the tonkotsu broth, but I finished both bowls without leaving anything behind. I left some soup, but I was very satisfied. Now, let's go visit Fukuchiyama Castle. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant a bit off peak time because I had some extra time. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen as it was recommended. I saw a review on Tabelog where someone ordered the large size, so I tried to order it as well, but the staff told me they don't have large size available. So, I adjusted my portion by adding more rice. The flavor was rich and creamy like Tenkaippin's ramen, but not too heavy, with a satisfying taste. Next time, I would like to try either the shoyu ramen or a blend of tonkotsu and shoyu.

Tonkichi, a popular ramen restaurant in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture. Established in 1987, this shop is known for its rich and creamy tonkotsu ramen. Based on various reviews, the ramen here reminds people of the popular chain restaurant "Tenkaippin," which I love. However, Fukuchiyama is quite far from Osaka, and the shop is only open for lunch on weekdays, with long lines and items often selling out, making it a challenging place to visit. I decided to take a day off and head to Fukuchiyama for lunch on my way to Maizuru. The shop is located about a 3-minute walk from Fukuchiyama Station, with parking available on the south side of the building. I arrived at the shop at 11:05 on a Friday, with 7 people already waiting in front of the shop. The seating was not organized in a traditional line, so I ended up sitting randomly, not knowing who was in front of me. The shop opened at 11:22, with about 20 people in line. Customers were seated in order, and when ordering, the staff confirmed the order of arrival. The ramen menu is simple, with tonkotsu, mix, and shoyu ramen options. I decided to try the tonkotsu ramen first. The tonkotsu ramen had a creamy and rich broth with no unpleasant smell, similar to Tenkaippin but even richer. The noodles were thin and extremely soft, almost mushy, a unique characteristic of this shop. The chashu had a chewy and tender texture, well-seasoned. The menma had a firm and crunchy texture, and the generous amount of green onions paired well with the rich soup. Initially, I thought the ramen was easy to eat, but as I progressed, the noodles soaked up a lot of soup, and the strong flavor made it a bit heavy and thirst-inducing towards the end. Many customers were seen enjoying rice with their ramen, and I can understand why. Finally visiting this shop that I had been curious about was satisfying, and it reaffirmed my love for Tenkaippin! Thank you for the meal!

I rushed over after finishing work around noon. It was 1:10 PM when I arrived, just as they were preparing to close. I asked if I could still come in and they kindly agreed. After waiting for about 5 minutes, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the "Tonkotsu Ramen" with firm noodles, but unfortunately they were sold out of rice. It seemed like this was the last bowl of ramen they had, so I felt really lucky to be able to eat it. After waiting for another 5 minutes, my bowl arrived! First, I took a sip of the soup. No matter how many times I eat it, I can't help but be impressed by this soup. It has no pork bone smell and is packed with flavor, making it absolutely delicious. It's more like eating the soup rather than drinking it. Next, I slurped up the noodles. I'm glad I chose firm noodles. They are medium-thin straight noodles that cling well to the soup and hold a lot of it. The toppings included thinly sliced pork, bamboo shoots, and chopped green onions. I like wrapping the green onions around the pork and dipping it in the soup before eating. By the time I finished the noodles, most of the soup was gone. The ramen at "Tonkichi" is like a work of art with its high level of perfection. I finished every last drop and bite. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I arrived at Fukuchiyama! It was quite far. I was prepared to wait in line, but there were only 3 people ahead of me. I ordered the regular tonkotsu ramen. It was a simple menu with just ramen and rice. The couple running the shop was very efficient and pleasant. The ramen arrived quickly and had a thick but elegant flavor. The thin noodles were amazing! The chashu was light, but it complemented the ramen well. I should have ordered the large size. I had high expectations, but the taste exceeded them. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the famous restaurant Tonkichi in Fukuchiyama. I arrived before 11 am and managed to park in the store's parking lot just in time. It's right in the middle of Golden Week, so there were a lot of cars with license plates from other prefectures. There were already over 20 people waiting in line. It started drizzling as well... I had to wait patiently until opening time, and luckily the shop opened 10 minutes early. I was able to be seated after waiting for 30 minutes since the opening. The menu includes tonkotsu, shoyu, and mix (pork bone soy sauce) ramen. You can also get a large serving for an additional 100 yen. You can also order rice in regular or large size. This time, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen (large) with a large serving of rice. After waiting for 10 minutes, my order arrived. The bowl was topped with a good amount of menma, green onions, and chashu. I took a sip of the soup. It resembles Tenkaippin, but it's not too heavy and doesn't have a strong pork bone smell. The soup is very creamy and elegant. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles that go well with the soup. This ramen pairs perfectly with rice. It was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating. I added some chili pepper from the table and it went well with the soup, making the rice even more enjoyable. I enjoyed every last bite! By the time I left, the line had wrapped around the shop... Golden Week is truly amazing (laughs). I will definitely visit again! Thank you for the meal!

Number of visits: 1 time It seems to be a popular place in Fukuchiyama, with about 20 people lining up before 11:30 am on a weekday. I was able to enter on the first turn at the opening somehow. It is an old-fashioned ramen shop. "Ramen (Mix) Regular" 800 yen It has thin straight noodles, and the mix seems to be a mix of soy sauce and pork bone, but it looks more like pork bone soup. However, it is relatively light and not very rich, making it quite easy to drink. It goes well with the noodles. The slightly generous amount of green onions is a highlight. It is delicious, but personally, I didn't think it was at the level to become so popular. Well, there are many people who like this kind of atmosphere in a ramen shop.

This is my second visit. It's an old-fashioned, very rich ramen shop located quite close to Fukuchiyama Station. There is a Times parking lot in front. It seems to be loved by locals, as there is already a line forming around 11 o'clock. It seems like an elderly couple run the place. The husband is in the kitchen, while the wife serves as the waitress, energetically attending to customers. The husband seems to be working hard in the kitchen. They offer three flavors: tonkotsu, shoyu, and tonkotsu shoyu. They also have regular and large sizes, with the large size costing an additional 100 yen. I had the tonkotsu shoyu last time, so this time I tried the tonkotsu. I recommend getting the noodles firm. The regular noodles are quite soft, so getting them firm is a good choice. It takes about 10 minutes for the food to be served. The richness of the soup is very high! The soup sticks to the noodles too much, making it too hot!!! The taste is irresistible. It has an addictive junky flavor. It's no wonder there are many repeat customers. It's similar to Tenkaippin, but it has a higher level of clarity than Tenkaippin. And rice is essential with this rich soup!!! Even the regular size seems like more than usual. It comes with two pickled vegetables. It's understandable why customers line up for this. In fact, I came back for a second time as well. It's a taste that makes you want to eat it regularly. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for a lunch during my sales rounds, it's been a while since my last visit. This time, I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen (large). I had high expectations, but unfortunately, the noodles were overcooked. The soup was thick and rich, similar to Tenkaippin's. I heard from regular customers that it was delicious. I will visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

In November 2015, I visited a ramen shop (specializing in tonkotsu broth) for the first time. It was a renowned shop in northern Kyoto that I had been wanting to try for a while. The shop had limited opening hours and was often crowded, making it difficult to visit. Finally, I had the chance to try their signature tonkotsu ramen. The broth had a distinct pork bone aroma that was different from other ramen shops. It was rich but not oily, and the noodles paired perfectly with the flavorful broth. Overall, it was a delicious bowl of ramen that truly represented the northern Kyoto ramen scene.

I visited the sacred place of Fukuchiyama, "Tonkichi". The first time I tasted it, I was blown away. Since then, I have visited many times because I long for its taste, but it's always sold out and the shutters are down. It's been years since I saw the shop with its shutters open. Of course, there was a long line in front of the shop. I had a chance to eat, so I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with extra noodles and rice for a carb festival (laughs). The high-quality, creamy tonkotsu soup with no unpleasant smell, coating the delicate noodles like carbonara, was delicious! Adding the chili miso on the table halfway through is also recommended. The soup was so rich that by the time I finished the noodles, the bowl was empty (laughs). When asked what Tonkichi's ramen is like, the most concise and accurate way to describe it is "It's like a tonkotsu version of Tenka Ippin", but it's more than just that... it has something amazing, almost bewitching. If possible, I hope this taste, which should be passed down to future generations, can be preserved and expanded to other locations. Thank you for the meal!

Japan Delicious Food Tour. July 2009. No.18. Number of visits 56. On the way back from fishing in the Sea of Japan, I stopped by with a friend. My friend was hungry and ordered a large serving (oh boy, are you sure?). This restaurant is famous for its extremely rich ramen. The soup is even richer than a certain chain known for its rich ramen in Fukuchiyama. "Tonkotsu Chashu." First, I took a sip of the soup. Hmm, it's definitely rich! Despite that, it's refreshing and has a deep flavor. As I slurped the noodles, the soup quickly disappeared. It was then that I learned that soup is not something you drink, but something you eat (laughs). After finishing the meal, my friend was really struggling. Sweating profusely, they were desperately trying to finish it. Large servings are tough after all. Thank you for the meal.
