This is a chain bakery located on the first floor of the Maruetsu supermarket at the corner of the Ota Ward Office entrance intersection, just a few minutes walk from JR Kamata Station East Exit. While there is an eat-in corner inside the store, there is no dedicated cash register or workshop. The payment is made at the Maruetsu central cash register. The bread seems to be baked in the supermarket's back yard, as the label on the bread states "Maruetsu or store" as the manufacturer. The time sale stickers on the bread also seem to be common with the supermarket. Upon researching, it seems that there are Little Mermaid bakeries in various Maruetsu locations such as Omorimachi, Musashikosugi, Kashimada, Okurayama, and Kakiyo. It appears that Maruetsu itself has become a franchisee for the brand "Little Mermaid," which is part of the Hiroshima-based Takaki Bakery franchise for store locations. I visited this bakery to buy breakfast bread, with the purpose of buying a 1/4 loaf of "long-fermented bread" for 162 yen (tax included), which seems to be a common product with Takaki Bakery and Andersen. The next morning, I toasted and ate the bread, and surprisingly, it was delicious. The bread, containing butter, sugar, and skim milk powder, is not as rich as high-end artisan bread, but it is not lean either. The crust is crispy, while the inner dough is somewhat similar to Danish bread. Perhaps due to the long fermentation, the wheat flavor is quite noticeable. It was a good bread for toasting. Little Mermaid has been expanding into the Tokyu Line area recently, including within station premises, likely due to a contract with Tokyu Gourmet Front. However, the absence of a store at the west exit of Kamata Station may be due to contractual constraints with Maruetsu.

① Before I could even try Maji Curry, I stumbled upon Curry Bread. The bakery located on the first floor of Maruetsu supermarket has a luxurious setup with an eat-in space. They were announcing freshly baked Salt Bread and Salt Walnut Bread, so I also got the Salt Bread.② Personally, I find that even if it's not freshly baked (even for a cheap bread costing only ¥150-¥300), I can still enjoy it by adding around ¥40-¥50.③ Even if you reheat it well, the true freshly baked item (the moment the bread dough turns into bread) and reheated bread seem to have a slightly different yeast-like aroma.④ I wonder how everyone compares the difference in taste between freshly baked and non-freshly baked items in what kind of unit (sensation).

Located inside Maruetsu, there is an eat-in space which seems convenient. However, perhaps because it is inside a supermarket, the staff are quite relaxed. Not suitable when in a hurry... Even when I mentioned that I was in a rush, things took a long time. The bread was cold, not freshly baked, so I didn't have high expectations, but the bacon potato dog was surprisingly delicious.

This time, I used it for tea time. I was unsure of what to choose, but this time I purchased a Piatt (Ham & Cheese). There is an eat-in space at Maruetsu, but this time I used it for takeout. Purchase contents: Piatt (Ham & Cheese) 180 yen. Piatt (Ham & Cheese) is a bread with thin dough like an oyaki, filled with ham and cheese, and topped with plum shiso on the surface. The plum shiso added an interesting accent to the flavor. The shop is clean and has a beautiful display, with other delicious-looking breads available. It is a bakery located inside Maruetsu Kamata store.

There is an eat-in space right next to the bakery register just after entering Maruetsu. You can enjoy the convenience of eating products purchased at the supermarket or bakery. My favorite is the hot dog with thick sausage and curry flavor, which is very satisfying and recommended for men as well. I ordered an iced café latte for my drink, which is perfect for the upcoming season. The eat-in space is a bit dark due to few windows, and it would be nice to have a covered trash can for a cleaner environment. There may not always be a cashier at the bakery, but if you call out to the staff in the work area, they will come out to assist you. Of course, takeout is also available, so be sure to stop by when you visit Maruetsu. ○.°+

The shop is located less than a 10-minute walk from JR Kamata Station, right near the entrance of Maruetsu. The interior of the shop feels a bit old, but it offers a wide variety of bread. The staff work efficiently, so you won't have to wait long. Although it's a little bit away from the station, the bread at Little Mermaid is always delicious and there are no disappointments, so you can purchase with confidence. I remember that when I said I didn't need a bag, they gave me a sticker instead.
