In the afternoon, I went to visit a client. For some reason, I felt like going to McDonald's for lunch. It's strange, but a few times a year, I get a craving for McDonald's hamburgers. However, when I saw the McDonald's at Kokubunji Station in my local area, there was a line of about 10 people outside. I didn't want to wait in line, so I headed to Tokyo Station where my client was located. I went to the McDonald's outside the Yaesu South Exit of Tokyo Station. There was no line there. A big sister at the counter guided me. I noticed the New York Taste limited-time menu that I had seen in a TV commercial, so I ordered the Beef Pepper Cheeseburger set for 760 yen. I couldn't understand the language spoken by the foreign-looking lady with a mask. When I asked again, it turned out she was asking if I wanted fries as a side menu. I chose fries and also selected a Coke Zero as my drink. After paying and receiving my receipt, I waited at the pick-up counter until my number was called. During that time, I looked around to decide where to eat. There was a standing counter near the 1st floor cash register area, where a tall Caucasian man was eating. Honestly, I felt a bit embarrassed to eat there in broad daylight. Since I still had time before my client visit, I decided to eat on the 2nd floor while sitting down. However, I was shocked by what I saw there... It was extremely crowded. I couldn't help but exclaim "Wow..." at the sushi-packed scene. The one-person counter seats were packed tightly with customers, with each person having only about 80cm of space. I thought it was too risky to eat there, but more and more people were coming up the stairs from the 1st floor, carrying trays and bags, so I had no choice but to sit at a cramped table. As I opened the burger wrapper, I said "Let's eat." The first bite was good. The patty was generously seasoned with black pepper, giving it a salty taste. The crunchy vegetables added to the American hamburger feel. As I continued eating, I noticed the overly toasted buns and dry, tough patty creating a strange hardness, almost like eating cardboard. It was tough... my jaw hurt. The fries tasted the same as usual. Initially, it was fine, but as I ate more, it became quite difficult. Strangely, I didn't feel full in my stomach. What is this food? I think Burger King gives a more satisfying feeling. Nevertheless, the crowded atmosphere on the 2nd floor is something I want to forget. It was dimly lit. The Caucasian man who was eating standing up on the 1st floor made the right choice. I thought that only Japanese people with a lot of patience and perseverance could endure the atmosphere on the 2nd floor.
