JR Shin-Koiwa Station South Exit, 200 meters south of Lumiere Shopping Street. A popular sushi restaurant that opened in Setagaya in 1977 has now opened a takeout sushi shop in 2021. The storefront displays information on ingredients sourced from Toyosu, raising expectations. The bright interior is filled with a wide variety of sushi, all at reasonable prices but with a satisfying lineup. The quality of the ingredients is also top-notch. A sushi restaurant that you would want in your neighborhood.

Sushi restaurant Midori opened in Shin-Koiwa. I lined up for about 5 minutes around 6 pm to get in. However, they didn't have any appealing items on the menu. I usually go to Chiyoda Sushi nearby, but decided to try Midori for a change. I ordered pressed mackerel sushi and live scallop, which were a bit more expensive than regular scallops, but I wanted to compare the taste. I also got monkfish liver and herring roe as snacks for the night. In short, the sushi was just like supermarket sushi. The rice was not good. I shouldn't have expected much, but compared to Chiyoda nearby, there was a huge difference. The mackerel I bought was dry and lacked the oiliness of mackerel. The monkfish liver was slimy. Although I could enjoy the texture of the herring roe, it lacked flavor. The only decent item was the scallop, but the rice was really not good, on a supermarket level. I was looking forward to it, but I'll stick to my regular place.

On a weekend night in March 2023, I was alone and decided to treat myself to sushi and sake. I placed an online order for pickup and got the following items: crab miso salad for 500 yen, foie gras with ponzu sauce for 380 yen, fatty tuna roll for 480 yen, flounder fin (4 pieces) for 420 yen, and seared salmon and raw salmon (2 pieces each) for 550 yen. Each item was carefully selected and everything was delicious, but the crab miso and fatty tuna were especially good (based on my personal preference). Next time, I think I'll go for those two again along with some medium fatty tuna. On a side note, I enjoyed a craft beer from Hong Kong (Little Master IPA) and sake from Aomori (Jokkar) with my meal. It was an amazing experience. The total cost for this seafood and sake feast was 5,000 yen. It was incredibly luxurious, but I definitely want to do it again.

Located in the Lumiere shopping street, about a 5-minute walk from Shin-Koiwa Station, is Midori Sushi. Known for its affordable non-rotating sushi, this place is famous for its delicious offerings. The Shin-Koiwa branch is a takeout-only shop, and it definitely lives up to expectations. I bought the Matsunigiri for 880 yen. Shin-Koiwa Sushi also has plenty of takeout options, and there can be lines. The sushi is fresh and lacks any fishy smell. While it's recommended to eat it fresh at the shop, the takeout from Midori Sushi might just change your mind. It was delicious.

There was a constant flow of people coming in and out. I was looking for something to have with my evening drink. ~Items purchased~ ■Maguro Butsu (tuna belly) ■Negi Toro Maki (green onion and fatty tuna roll) I purposely chose something that seemed common everywhere. They were surprisingly delicious, so it was the right choice. The butsu seemed to be a limited edition item. The negi toro had a generous amount of filling.

The newly opened takeout sushi restaurant, Umega Sushi no Midori, in front of Shin-Koiwa Station has been creating quite a buzz with its exceptional quality sushi. The restaurant is already drawing long queues, with 8 people inside and 6 people outside. Despite the wait, the takeout-only concept means you won't have to wait too long. Upon entering the clean and welcoming store, you are greeted by a variety of sushi packs, which quickly disappear as customers make their selections. The rumors about the high-quality sushi are true - the freshness of the ingredients is evident at first glance. The store is clean, the service is polite and attentive, leaving a great impression. Today's order: 10 pieces of premium sushi for ¥1,270 each. Returning home, I was pleasantly surprised to find ice packs included in the packaging, showing attention to detail. The presentation and taste of the sushi exceeded my expectations for the price. Each piece was delicious, with a great balance of flavors. While the rice was slightly on the sweeter side, it was still within acceptable limits. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. This is now my top choice for takeout sushi, and I will definitely be back. Many thanks to the hard work of the management and staff. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Medenri nigiri, including tax 950 yen. Near Shin-Koiwa Station, there is Hachiyoda Sushi for take-out sushi, and there are also three conveyor belt sushi restaurants in the area. The sushi here has delicious rice. Take-out sushi often has bad rice, but that wasn't the case here. The ingredients also feel fresh. I might use this place regularly. *The staff were attentive and professional.

I tried out the takeout-only sushi shop, Mitogi Sushi, which I used to frequent in March 2023. I ordered two sets of 3 servings each for 3,300 yen per set, totaling 6 servings. I also ordered sushi rolls for kids and crab miso salad. I placed the order online for just under 10,000 yen. The pickup process was smooth, and there were other customers even though it was 10:30, indicating its popularity. The highlight was the medium fatty tuna sushi, while the rest were average. The crab miso salad, with crab miso and crab meat, felt luxurious and was delicious, although the portion was small for 500 yen. Overall, I had no major complaints and found it tasty. I would visit again if I have the chance.

Additional note on April 12, 2022, in the afternoon. I entered the store and noticed that the sushi rolls here felt quite substantial. Today, I had the horse mackerel nigiri and fatty tuna roll for 1017 yen including the bag fee. I previously mentioned that the eel nigiri's quality seemed to have dropped, but on another day, the eel nigiri I purchased was delicious. Wasabi was served separately with the fatty tuna, which added a nice accent and balanced out the richness, preventing it from becoming overwhelming. The horse mackerel was thick and had no strong taste. The rice might have been a bit on the firmer side due to refrigeration. Overall, I think it would make a good option for takeout. First visit on March 29, 2022, in the evening. I visited close to 5 pm, as small shops usually aren't open before that for takeout. It was my first time trying this place. Today, I bought a set of 4 eel nigiri and 3 maguro (tuna) nigiri sets x2 for my mother, who loves tuna. I had already purchased yakitori for dinner, so I chose a smaller selection. According to my mother, the tuna was thick compared to other sushi she had recently eaten. She also had no issues with the rice. I tried the eel nigiri myself, and some pieces had a slightly fishy taste due to the passage of time. This is inevitable, as it's not freshly made and refrigeration can affect the rice's temperature. I didn't think about using ice packs, so I just left it on the table. This was the main reason for the slight issue. The set options seem reasonably priced. It seemed like a good deal, perhaps because of the skilled chef or owner managing it. I'm curious about trying it for a larger group.
