木冬木風
On this day, I felt like eating grilled meat, so I decided to visit this restaurant where I recently started having lunch. Located in Uomachi, Kokura Kita-ku. It is conveniently located just a short walk from the monorail "Heiwa-dori Station". The interior of the restaurant is visible from the outside, so there is no intimidating atmosphere when entering. Inside, there is a row of counter seats. In the evening, you can enjoy yakiniku where you can order from one slice and also have meat sushi as a side dish. It was originally an ideal location for solo yakiniku, so it's nice to be able to easily go grill meat after starting lunch. For lunch, there is a dedicated ticket machine at the entrance for advance payment. In the evening, it's a post-order system with oral orders, so please be aware of the difference in format. The main menu is of course yakiniku. The set meals vary in price depending on the combination of meat and the amount of meat. The cheaper ones start from 650 yen for "Kalbi & Chicken/Pork Set (100g)", and the more expensive ones go up to 1800 yen for "Upper Kalbi Set (200g)". The set meals come with unlimited rice, which is great when you want to eat a lot. There is also a dish called "Seared Yukke Don" for 1200 yen, which is intriguing... Additionally, you can order meat in increments of 50g as a side dish. The prices are mostly around 300-350 yen, but the Upper Kalbi is priced at 550 yen, which is exceptional. When I originally wanted to order the "Kalbi & Sagari Set (100g)" for 900 yen and add a side of "Upper Kalbi (50g)", it was not 1250 yen as indicated, but 1450 yen. So I decided to go for the "Kalbi & Sagari Set (200g)" which was almost the same price. [Kalbi & Sagari Set (200g) 1400 yen] When you order, a hot charcoal is placed in front of you, and a grill is placed on top for grilling the meat. After a while, it was served. The set includes rice, salted cabbage, wakame soup, and meat. Each is 100g, and the meat consists of 6-7 slices. The left side in the photo is Sagari, and the right side is Kalbi. I immediately started grilling both. It has a good visual with the fat dripping down. Contrary to the appearance, the Kalbi did not have much umami taste from the fat when I tried it. It was introduced as having "moderate marbling", but I felt a bit disappointed. Nevertheless, the quality of the meat was tender and good. The Sagari, on the other hand, had the juicy flavor as expected with its appearance of lean meat. It was delicious. The wakame soup and salted cabbage were decent. I ate the cabbage as a salad, but after seeing other customers using it for grilling, I thought that was also a good idea. The sauce was watery and on the lighter side. It had a taste that goes well with rice. Finished eating. Thank you for the meal. Overall, I think it's a place where you can easily grill meat. When comparing the prices of individual items and set meals, the Upper Kalbi Set seems to offer the best cost performance. Since the regular Kalbi was a bit different from what I expected, I think it would be a good idea to base your meal on the Upper Kalbi and add a little more with individual items. I'll try that next time.
