I bought a set of mini pork buns because there was a store nearby my new place. The real estate agent also recommended them when I visited the property, so they must be delicious. I tried one straight out of the fridge and it was super tasty even without heating it up. I think the rest will make a great lunch for tomorrow, so the cost performance is also excellent.

I had the chance to visit "Ogura Youko's Butaman Head Office Factory Store", where I have been a fan of their steamed pork buns for a while. I parked my car in the parking lot behind the shop and headed inside. They only offer takeout, no dining in. The factory store also offers freshly steamed buns. I decided to get some to eat there and some to take home. Each pork bun costs 250 yen and is incredibly soft and fluffy. When I tried to peel off the paper at the bottom, I noticed a message saying, "As the meat juice may spill, please eat with this side facing up." I ate it with the bottom side up and it was incredibly juicy and delicious. It was so good that I finished it in no time. The size was quite big but it was gone in a flash. The takeout pork buns are available in both chilled and frozen options. I highly recommend trying their "Chimaki" as well, which is only available frozen. When heated in the microwave, the sticky rice becomes chewy, and with shiitake mushrooms and pork inside, it tastes delicious. Payment is cash only.

Located 6-8 minutes on foot from Tange Station, there is a pork bun specialty store called "Kokura Kojiro" at the head office factory. While walking through the streets of Kokura, you may occasionally come across this specialty store for pork buns. Most of the shops sell chilled products, but only at this head office factory can you enjoy freshly steamed pork buns on the go. In addition to pork buns, they also offer various dim sum such as mini buns, red bean buns, dumplings, and shumai, attracting many customers who purchase dim sum for home consumption. This time, I tried the pork bun. Taking a bite, the overflowing meat juice bursts out, spreading a juicy and sweet flavor in your mouth. With plenty of onions inside, the moisture from the onions mixes with the meat juice, creating a soup-like filling inside the dough, reminiscent of xiaolongbao. The soft texture of the dough is exquisite, and the balance with the filling is wonderful, making it understandable why this pork bun is so popular! You can enjoy it on the go or heat it up at home, so be sure to visit and try this exquisite pork bun. Thank you for the meal!

No parking lot. I bought a pork bun from Yangtze River in Kawaharaguchi Mihagiya for 250 yen after a long time. They warm it up for you on the spot. The taste seems to have changed, with a lot more onions now. I remember it used to be more meaty and incredibly delicious. When you take a bite, a lot of soup comes out from inside, so it's a bit nerve-wracking to eat outside.

On this day, I casually visited "Kokura Agokoji Pork Bun Headquarters Factory" in Maikura.
◇Exterior and Interior
This is the headquarters factory of a pork bun shop located in Maikura, Kokura Kita-ku, Kitakyushu City. It is a famous shop born in Kokura! Since many reviewers have already reviewed it, I will skip some details.
◇No seating available.
◇Menu Structure
In addition to pork buns, they also offer dumplings, shumai, and pig's feet. The items I ordered are as follows:
- Pork bun (240 yen) → Tax-inclusive price, price per piece. A pork bun that is likely to have been tried by many locals. I might get scolded by my seniors for reviewing this place now... but let's proceed. The standout feature is the generous amount of finely chopped onions, almost more than the meat ratio. The overall size is also quite big. Be sure to eat it upside down to avoid the flavorful juices overflowing.
◆Strengths
Kokura's famous pork bun!
◆Customer Service
Quick and efficient.
◆Summary
You might not be aware, but the shumai here is also quite distinctive. Enjoyed the meal.

I had to visit Kokura for my daughter's errand and purchased some meat buns that I found on Tabelog. I had trouble finding the parking lot, but after receiving explanations from the cheerful and lovely staff at the store, I ended up buying a lot of meat buns. On the way back, my wife texted me saying she also wanted to eat pig's feet! So, I turned back and bought pig's feet as well. When I got home, I looked up how to heat them in the microwave, and voila! The skin was soft, the filling had a firm texture and great flavor! Even though I microwaved it, the meat juice overflowed! I took a big bite of both the skin and the filling, and they had a harmonious relationship! The hot food was delicious! I burned my mouth a little bit. It seems like I will have more opportunities to visit Kokura in the future, so when I go, I will definitely buy some to take home! Thank you to the staff at the store for their fun service!

Please be careful with the meat juice, they should write it bigger~ When you eat it right after buying it, the meat juice overflows unexpectedly and causes a big commotion in the car~ The dough is like a convenience store dough, so you'll be like "I didn't expect this much..." so everyone be careful or wait about 10 minutes before eating to let the juice settle a bit. The filling inside is not like the soft 551 type I thought it would be, so please try it out.

Full volume!! Full deliciousness!! This is the main store! I wanted to stop by and buy at the main store since I was nearby. The big sign of the store made it easy to find while driving by! Convenient with parking available. The pork bun I had while driving was amazing. It was surprisingly large and juicy with plenty of meat juice. I'll definitely buy it again when I pass by (*´ω`*)

I bought some meat buns and pork buns from Agoshio in Fukuoka Kokura and enjoyed them at home. I love the pork buns from here! The meat buns have plenty of juicy filling inside. When you take a bite, the meat juice overflows. I haven't tried the red bean buns yet, but whenever I visit Kokura, I always buy them as souvenirs to take home. Delicious!

I was looking forward to buying chimaki this time, but I encountered a very unfriendly and businesslike store clerk. They sell chimaki in packs of one or two, but I misunderstood and thought they were selling them in packs of one and two. The clerk gave me a curt explanation. While they were packing my purchase, they made rude comments like "I'm closing the window halfway because it's cold" and "We usually microwave them, so it's fine" with a strange sense of superiority. The chimaki itself had pork belly inside and was a bit bland in taste. The sales staff seems to change frequently, but I still want to buy from there again. Thank you for the meal!

I walked from Kokura Station because you can easily walk one or two stops on the monorail. I ordered a pork bun and it came out quickly. The main factory's opening hours are convenient. The bun was filled to the brim with ingredients and the sweet onion inside was delicious.

At 210 yen each, the pork buns [397kcal energy, 51.4g sugar] at the convenience store looked tempting. While sipping hot coffee in the Seven Eleven parking lot, I noticed a sign for Yangtze River pork buns to my right. A famous specialty from Kokura that I've heard about since long ago. It was quite a coincidence to find the shop just 10 seconds away. I decided to buy two pork buns (cold) for now. The staff member seemed to be Chinese based on her pronunciation. When I split open the pork bun, the juice overflowed. However, it felt more like an "onion bun" than a pork bun. It was tasty, but I wish there was a bit more meat in it.

I bought pig's feet, shumai, and gyoza. The pig's feet were ready in about 1 minute in the microwave. Bliss! Bliss! The shumai was also quite delicious. Just like the meat buns from Yangtze River, the shumai oozes with meat juice. I would like to try chimaki next time. Thank you for the meal!

Strolling through the streets of Kokura. In the past, there used to be a streetcar line called the Nishitetsu Kitagata Line running on the road, but now a monorail runs gracefully on an elevated track covering the sky. Next to it is a shop called "Yoshiko's Butaman" that Kokura locals love. I decided to try their butaman (pork bun) priced at 210 yen each right there on the spot. Wow, it's quite big and looks very satisfying! When I split it open, it was filled with plenty of onions and sweet juice dripping out. The combination of sweet onions and savory meat when you take a bite is just amazing! The skin is also top-notch, probably handmade, giving it a great texture. It reminds me of authentic meat buns. Yoshiko's Butaman also has a shop in the Uomachi Arcade near Kokura Station, but they only sell packed butaman there, so if you want to enjoy it on the go, come here. Just a heads up!

I initially went to the Asahiya Okura Station store, but they only sold sets that needed to be steamed before eating, so I asked the staff and they told me that the main store in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture sells items that can be eaten immediately after purchase. I went to the main store located along Prefectural Route 266, Sanhagino Uomachi Line in Maiba, Kita-ku, Kokura, Fukuoka Prefecture. I ordered a steamed bun for 210 yen and received a hot, freshly steamed bun in a bag. I enjoyed it while walking and could taste the deliciousness of the ingredients and the sweetness, which was very satisfying. The taste was consistently good.

I went to eat my favorite Yangtze River meat bun. These meat buns are so juicy. This time, I made a big mistake and ended up dripping meat juice on my clothes. But I gathered myself and continued eating. The sweetness of the finely chopped onions is nice. The meat has a firm texture. The dough is chewy. Be sure to slurp the juice while eating to avoid getting your clothes dirty. The size is about twice as big as a convenience store meat bun. I always think it's too cheap at 200 yen each. I highly recommend this meat bun.

Pork bun for 200 yen. As reviews of a certain Kansai restaurant (numbered) start to increase in the online world, something annoying happened. To calm down, Pokuchin decided to eat this pork bun. This pork bun has juicy filling that flows out from inside, so Pokuchin usually flips it over, eats the back skin, and then takes a bite. You can see in the third photo that the juice (or rather, moisture) is dripping.

I bought a meat bun!! The taste is delicious! The onions are cut large, which gives it a nice impact! The meat is also quite good! The meat bun itself is large, so it's satisfying! However, the attitude of the staff was a bit off.

I love the bakery near my place, but my husband loves this shop even more. The bread is warm, delicious, and filled with juicy meat, reminiscent of my favorite 551. We tried to visit the shop, but it was still closed after 8 o'clock. Since we couldn't wait, a friend drove us to the nearby factory where we bought 10 pieces. We all enjoyed them, and they were so tasty that even though one is filling, you still crave for more.
