Subway has introduced a sandwich using taco meat for the first time, and it seems like that season has arrived... I decided to try it. There are three types of taco sandwiches: a standard one, one topped with cheese, and one named "Yaba Spicy" which is supposed to be very spicy. The name "Yaba Spicy" seems like a message aimed at the Z generation, which I didn't really like, but I decided to go for the most intense option since I was already trying it. I chose to have it on toasted wheat bread, with extra bell peppers instead of tomatoes. I also got an iced tea as a side, all for 830 yen. The small shop is located near Shinjuku Gyoen, with only about 8 seats for customers. The ingredients are displayed in a showcase, with a kitchen and an oven for baking bread in the back. Despite its small size, the shop is quite busy, especially during lunchtime when a small line forms outside, mostly for takeout. It's a perfect fit for Subway's business model. As for the sandwich I received, it was beautifully green! Perhaps because there were no tomatoes, the main ingredient, taco meat, was somewhat hidden among the vegetables, giving it a green and yellow vegetable sandwich-like appearance. It looked healthy and not bad for you (laughs). The dressing was a spicy chipotle sauce. The habanero sauce was in a portion pack, to be torn open and squeezed for an extra kick. The catchphrase was "Mexican meat taco with the king of spiciness, habanero sauce, and hot peppers for an extreme spiciness that spicy food lovers will adore," but it turned out to be quite mild. The habanero sauce made my lips tingle, but it didn't really add to the spiciness. The taco meat was actually quite sweet... mixed with the softness and sweetness of the bread, it lacked the powerful punch you would expect. My stomach felt satisfied... so I was content.

I remembered how I used to frequent the Subway in the old Hiroo shopping street, so I decided to get takeout while waiting for the bus near the bus stop. It's nice that you can choose your bread and customize the fillings. I'll have to find another opportunity to dine in.

The lunch menu seems to change weekly, but this particular store has not changed at all, so I haven't had a chance to revisit for a long time. This time, with the price increase, it seems like the menu has finally been rotated? I ordered the Grilled Chicken & Cheese lunch set (680 yen), which seems to be limited to this store. I chose honey oats, extra vegetables, and left the dressing up to them. For the drink, I chose iced tea and they gave me a cup with just ice at the self-service station. Is this a drink bar (all-you-can-drink)? There wasn't much explanation. The drink was warm, almost warmer than the outside temperature, and the ice melted quickly. Lately, I've been wanting to eat a sandwich with a crunchy outer layer, but the buns here are extremely soft, almost squishing in my hand. The slightly sweet buns, cheese, vegetables, and mayonnaise flavor (I couldn't taste the chicken in the first bite) were surprisingly delicious. The dressing they chose for me seemed to be mayonnaise. The chicken was fragrant and tasty. The lettuce was too finely chopped, making it difficult to eat. It looks voluminous, but the soft bread and vegetables don't provide much texture. Maybe it's because it should come with potatoes as a side. After finishing, I realized that there didn't seem to be any tomatoes.

I was planning to go to the nearby Saint Marc Café, but I decided to stop at Subway right before it because I felt like I needed more vegetables lately. It's been probably 10 years since I last went to Subway, but I remember that they offer a lot of vegetables. This Subway in Shinjuku Gyoenmae is quite small, with only counter seats facing the street. However, there are also counter seats in the back, which is nice. I ordered the Tuna sandwich (550 yen) as part of the lunch set. According to the receipt, the Tuna sandwich costs 380 yen, and the drink costs 170 yen. It seems like a good deal. I couldn't find the drink menu at the counter, so I asked the South Asian staff where it was. They explained that you choose your sandwich at the counter and then order your drink at the adjacent register. Oh, I see! That's how Subway works. That's both their selling point and the reason why I haven't been here in a while. I asked them to choose everything for me. They asked if I wanted the bread toasted and if I wanted salt and pepper on it. I said yes to everything. Although there is a drink bar next to the register, the drink I ordered was different - an iced coffee. You can't use cards or PayPay here, but you can use transportation IC cards. The sandwich was seasoned with salt and pepper, which I found unusual, but it seems to be a recommended sauce according to the menu. It was flavorful with lots of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and green peppers, along with plenty of tuna. The bread was sesame, soft, and chewy, which was delicious. I've been exploring various lunch spots, but fast food is good too. I answered the survey on the receipt and received a coupon for a free small drink, but the expiration date was only 4 days later! That's too short.

Subway sandwiches have introduced a summer menu, with a Mexican-inspired lineup. When the summer heat is intense, I often crave spicy food. However, I prefer a lighter spiciness, like in Mexican cuisine or South Indian curries, over the heavy spiciness of Korean or Indian dishes. When I arrived at the restaurant, I noticed a banner near the entrance that said "Chili Con Feeling." I chuckled at the dad-like humor and decided to order the Chili Con Can & Chicken sandwich. I asked for wheat bread, extra bell peppers, no tomatoes, extra pickles, and chipotle sauce. I paired it with iced tea. The diced boiled chicken and beans in the sandwich had a unique texture, and the sandwich was not as spicy as I expected. The sweetness of the bread and beans stood out, and the contrast between the soft bread and crunchy vegetables was enjoyable. Although it lacked a punch, it was satisfying and easy to eat. Overall, it was not bad, but my favorite remains the tuna, egg, and chipotle sauce sandwich. As I finished eating and walked towards Shinjuku, I noticed that cumin seeds seemed to be sticking to me. Perhaps my beard had absorbed the scent of the Chili Con Can. On my walk, I couldn't shake off the feeling of being enveloped in a rich Showa-era atmosphere, with jazz instrumental versions of "Ginza Love Story" playing in the background. This was followed by Dick Mine's "The Two of Us Are Young," further enhancing the nostalgic mood (laughs).

The other day, I went to Subway located near Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station, along Shinjuku Street! They are open from the morning, and I sometimes go there after work! They have a wide variety of menu items such as sandwiches, salads, and coffee, so I recommend it! The atmosphere inside the store is welcoming, so I will visit again!

I had my first morning experience at Subway♪ There were 3 options, and I chose the Tuna Cheese for 340 yen. I also got a cafe latte. Since I usually get extra vegetables, the default amount in the morning menu felt a bit lacking in volume. I was surprised that they didn't provide wet towels, but then I found a machine at the counter that dispensed wet paper towels when I pressed a button. It was really convenient and nice to use without any hesitation. Both staff members were Indian ladies, which made me realize that even here, foreign staff members are common. Truly, Japan wouldn't function without people from other countries, at least in Tokyo.

I didn't have much time between appointments, so I hurriedly bought a shrimp avocado sandwich at Subway. I have a habit of always ordering shrimp avocado. Since time was tight, I didn't hesitate to buy it. I ate it in a taxi on the way, not very politely. Instagram ID: kuidaore.8.

Yo! My name is Genkou Kamui. You can call me Gen for short. My hobbies are martial arts and training. These two are the center of my life, but there is one more important thing - food. I think eating is somehow similar to fighting. So, I have decided to challenge the gourmet fighters in the food logging world. I want to aim for the top by fighting fair and square. I have a straightforward personality, so I will honestly say whether something is delicious or not. Get ready for my honest and unbiased reviews! [Subway Shinjuku Gyoenmae Store] I sometimes feel like going to Subway instead of McDonald's or KFC. When I'm in the mood for a sandwich instead of a burger, I head to Subway. This place is conveniently located near Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station, making it easy to visit. When I come to Subway, I always order the shrimp avocado sandwich. The combination of plump shrimp and creamy avocado is just delicious. There are also various vegetables like tomatoes in it, giving it a healthy vibe. The cost performance is good, and it's a casual place to stop by, so I think I'll visit again. That's all. With heartfelt gratitude. Thank you for the meal!!

After finishing my visit, I suddenly realized I was hungry. I decided to grab a quick bite at Subway. The staff, two Indian employees maybe? Not sure. They called out the usual "Vegetables! All the way!" in English, but I wondered what it would be in their language. Anyway, I paid for my order. Crunchy vegetables, spicy wasabi sauce, juicy tomatoes, onions, grilled chicken, and a hint of sweetness from honey oat bread all came together in a flavorful explosion in my mouth. Crunchy splash! It was delicious! This is the essence of Subway. Eating here always makes me feel satisfied with all the veggies. It's a place I feel like visiting occasionally!

Near Shinjuku Gyoen, I stopped by a sandwich shop that caught my eye for some time adjustment. Although it is a sandwich shop, they also offer drinks only. I chose the Herb Tea S for 230 yen. The shop was perfect for a hot sunny day, so I started looking at the menu thinking about getting an iced drink. However, I noticed they had Herb Tea, so I decided to go with that. They only serve hot Herb Tea in a small size. I thought there might be seating on the second floor, but it turned out there were only around 10 counter seats on the first floor. It seemed like a place for a quick bite. The Herb Tea I had was a deep pink color with a refreshing acidity from the rose hips. I unexpectedly enjoyed the delicious drink and was able to adjust my time pleasantly.
