I visited around 9 o'clock. There was only one seat available at the end of the counter. Lucky! I had a draft beer, highball, vegetable salad (half size), negima (chicken with green onion), liver, chicken skin, and tsukune (chicken meatballs). The total was 2,620 yen. The chicken breast was sold out. Too bad! The negima and liver were very juicy and delicious! The liver was rich and the tsukune had a strong ginger flavor, so you can add shichimi pepper or black pepper to your liking. The only normal dish was the salad. Unless you are lacking vegetables due to business trips or other reasons, I wouldn't strongly recommend it. Everything was good, but the negima and liver are a must-try! I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

I was able to miraculously secure a reservation and visit the restaurant. I sat at the counter and was able to witness the master's meticulous work. Each skewer was carefully grilled, and there are no words other than delicious to describe it. The quality is high and it feels different from your ordinary "yakitori". The skewers are large and satisfying to eat. In addition to the grilled items, I also had cucumber and mozuku vinegar. The master and his wife were friendly and I had a satisfying and enjoyable evening. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

The total was 2,480 yen for negi triangle, chicken skin, momo fried chicken, kimchi tofu, and oolong tea. It was surprisingly cheap! I was impressed by the size and deliciousness of each skewer. It was my third time there and I finally ordered the fried chicken, which was also delicious and came in a large portion. Thank you for the meal!

This popular yakitori restaurant in Kyoto is always on my list of places to visit when I go to Kyoto, but I always seem to miss the timing for reservations. Two weeks ago, I couldn't get a reservation, so I tried to book two months in advance, only to find out that reservations start one month before. I wondered if I could get a reservation during the corona pandemic, but no luck. It's strange how reservations seem to be easier to get when there are a lot of foreign and Japanese tourists crowding the area. Kyoto is known for its high-quality yakitori, with many famous upscale restaurants, making it hard to just casually drop in for a meal. However, this restaurant is the pinnacle of casual dining, with affordable prices per skewer and generous portions. The taste is also delicious. While they may not offer rare cuts like other popular yakitori places, the classic menu items are satisfying enough. The cost performance is so good that I almost considered trying all the skewer items, but the portions were too large. From the owner to the staff, everyone provides friendly service that makes it clear why this place is so popular. While a course meal of yakitori is nice, there's something special about the simple pleasure of enjoying yakitori. It's hard to get a reservation, so I can't visit frequently, but I definitely want to go back soon.

Overall, the food was delicious, but the restaurant seemed more suited for salarymen. It lacked a sense of cleanliness and didn't seem geared towards women. The skewers were sometimes flavorful and other times a bit lacking, and the soy sauce on the grilled rice ball was too strong. Personally, I prefer a bit more sweetness in the sauce. The fried chicken had a strong umami flavor and was my favorite.

Thursday 18:15 We had a reservation at Bajidono for 18:30. We were able to enter 15 minutes early. We ordered from the menu starting from the top row. • Appetizer - Chicken skin with grated daikon Beer 580 Peach chu-hi 460 Chicken neck 180 Gizzard 170 Liver 170 Tsukune (chicken meatballs) 170 Tsukune curry 170 First impressions: • Liver - Large-sized liver, juicy and delicious. Need that iron intake. • Tsukune - Fluffy and delicious, had a nice kick with shichimi spice. • Gizzard - Crunchy and small in size, could eat plenty. • Chicken neck - Reliable and delicious, large in size. • Tsukune curry - The aroma of curry powder was appetizing, my daughter said the tsukune was delicious. Tako wasabi 440 Dashimaki (rolled omelette) 530 Chicken skin 170 Chicken thigh 170 Second round of orders: Tako wasabi goes really well with sake. Dashimaki had 6 pieces and was delicious. • Chicken thigh - Tender and easy to chew. • Chicken skin - The skin was flavorful, very tasty. Hakushika (sake) 460 Beer 580 Seseri (chicken neck) 180 Nankotsu (cartilage) 170 Sankaku (triangle) 170 Hatsu with black pepper 170 Added more drinks and placed another order: • Seseri - Really like this, juicy with a good texture, very delicious. • Hatsu with black pepper - Tender with a nice kick from the black pepper, delicious lingering taste. • Sankaku - Crispy with a good saltiness. • Nankotsu - Crunchy with a delicious fatty taste. Pizza-style yakitori 190 Chicken wings 170 Shiso roll 190 Yagen 220 Starting to feel full: • Yagen - I like this. More satisfying than regular cartilage, feels like a good deal. • Shiso roll - Love the plum and shiso flavor. Juicy yet refreshing. • Pizza-style - Yakitori with cheese and Tabasco, a Western-style yakitori. The acidity of Tabasco spreads in the mouth. Yakitori rice bowl 660 Chicken bone soup 280 Chicken breast plum and shiso 170 Finishing off: • Chicken breast plum and shiso - Tender with a great plum and shiso flavor, very delicious. • Yakitori rice bowl - Charred and glossy yakitori with green onions and seaweed. The sauce-soaked rice was a perfect match. • Soup - The staff offered to divide one portion for us, so we accepted. The soup had a good amount of green onions and ginger. • Chicken wings - Lastly, we received chicken wings. Thought they had forgotten our order, haha. Hot and fluffy. They carefully grilled them over charcoal, so they took a while to cook. It was enjoyable to drink slowly while waiting for the yakitori. The relaxed atmosphere at the counter seat. It was heartwarming to see a couple who have been running a shop since the Meiji era chatting with travelers and having a good time. We had 16 skewers of yakitori between the two of us until we were full, drank two drinks each while waiting, and the total bill for two people was 7,310 yen. We finished with roasted green tea and left satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Third time's the charm! I pass by this shop in Kyoto for work every few months, and each time I think I'll try it next time, but end up having to give up because it's fully booked. But on my third try, I finally got lucky! Even though it was fully booked on the day, I decided to wait for the second round of openings for walk-ins. I got a call around 20-15 minutes later saying there was a spot available, and luckily I was nearby so I could dine in. The shop has less than 10 counter seats on the first and second floors. The first floor is recommended as you can watch the chef grilling the yakitori right in front of you. The menu is mainly yakitori, and the portions are generous, about 1.5 times bigger than usual. The sauces are mainly salt-based, with a stronger savory flavor rather than sweet. There are also condiments like sansho pepper and shichimi available to adjust the seasoning to your liking. The service is polite and friendly, making the overall experience very pleasant. The freshness of the grilled yakitori, prepared by skilled chefs right in front of you, is definitely worth the price. While similar establishments might cost around 5000 yen per person, here you can enjoy a satisfying meal with three drinks for just 3500 yen per person.

I learned from my senpai and made a reservation a month in advance to visit this restaurant. We were guided to a spacious semi-private area on the second floor where 4 of us could sit comfortably. I don't remember everything we ate because we ordered a variety of dishes, but we had items like moon-viewing tsukune, chicken tenderloin, chicken wings, shiso rolls, grilled chicken heart with black pepper, chicken breast with plum and shiso, cheese fries, sweet potato with butter, and green tea ice cream. Some of the skewers, like the chicken tenderloin, were quite large, almost equivalent to 2 skewers. The chicken heart with black pepper had a strong pepper flavor, which might not be to everyone's liking, but I loved it! All the dishes we ordered were seasoned with salt, but they were light and not too salty, allowing us to enjoy the delicious taste of the chicken. Even though we ordered a lot and were quite full, I was surprised that it only cost 3000 yen per person. I would definitely like to go back again.

Visited alone at night. This is my first time posting on Tabelog. It's a popular place, so I recommend contacting them in advance. Reservations are a must for early hours (^◇^;) This time, I visited at 8:30 and was able to enter as there was only one seat available at the counter (^。^) 7 skewers and 2 highballs cost 2,670 yen. There are many yakitori restaurants around Karasuma, including the long-established Torisei, but personally, this place is the best♪ The quality, quantity, and price are excellent. The quiet owner cooks diligently by himself. Thank you for the meal ♫

Originally, the plan was to gather with childhood friends, but one person couldn't make it, so two of us went instead. We didn't realize that each skewer was quite large, so we ended up ordering two servings without knowing. As we ate, we started to feel full and wondered if we had ordered too much. We asked if we could cancel the items that hadn't arrived yet, and they said they could only make the chicken liver skewers. When they arrived, the liver was huge, unlike anything we had seen before. It was a bit of a misstep on our part (not the restaurant's fault). One skewer is probably enough for two people. It might be okay for those who eat a lot or are confident in their appetite, but for two people in their 40s, it was too much. If we had known the size, we would have ordered fewer and tried some other parts as well. The staff, including the waitress and the mother and father cooking alone, were all very nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great too. Of course, the food was delicious. We will definitely visit again, but next time we'll make sure to order correctly and try the items we missed this time. Thank you for the meal.

Super popular restaurant! Bajidokaze!! I couldn't get through when I called before because they were busy, but this time I was lucky to make a reservation. When I entered the restaurant, I was surprised by the calm and dim atmosphere, different from what I had imagined! I was happy to see the large yakitori being grilled right in front of me at the counter. The seasoning on the seseri with ketchup and cheese, and the salad with potato chips added, were interesting touches! I always order the cheese fry and sweet potato butter dishes - they were delicious. The yakitori and other dishes were all amazing! The cost performance is also good, and I understand why this place is loved by many! Definitely go and try it out!

I had heard that it was quite difficult to make a reservation at this famous restaurant. After a long battle on the phone, my friend finally secured a reservation. This time, we decided to order individual skewers of our choice. Every skewer we tried was delicious, but my personal favorites were the liver, triangle, and chicken tenderloin with wasabi. The wasabi was not on top but sandwiched in between, enhancing its flavor. We finished off with grilled rice balls and chicken broth soup. The fact that you can order just one skewer at a time was a big plus.

A yakitori restaurant located along Muromachi Street, just a short walk from Shijo or Karasuma Station. It is known for its great value, with skewers priced in the 100 yen range. The skewers are generously sized, and a few can fill you up. The flavors are delicious, especially the perfectly cooked liver and juicy thigh meat. They also offer a good selection of alcoholic beverages. It's a steal to dine here for around 2000 yen per person. The restaurant has a small first floor with a counter and grill, and a second floor with 16 tatami seats. It was packed with local office workers on a Friday night, so reservations are recommended.

A popular yakitori restaurant located near Shijo Karasuma in Shijo Karasuma, Kyoto. It has a convenient location and offers large skewers of yakitori at affordable prices. The freshness and grilling of items like heart and liver are just right and delicious. They use their own secret sauce and salt from Miyako Island. The recommended items by the owner are liver, seseri, and chicken with leeks. They also offer unique skewers like curry powder grilled tsukune and seseri with cheese. The first floor has a counter where you can talk to the chef, while the second floor has semi-private rooms. The restaurant has a wide selection of shochu, including chestnut, sesame, buckwheat, brown sugar, and shiso flavors. It is always crowded, so reservations are a must, usually available one month in advance.

Around 5:10 pm on the same day, I called and asked, "Are you available?" I had been wanting to go for a long time and had called several times without being able to make a reservation, so I had almost given up. However, this time, I was able to make a reservation! Even when they had to decline, the staff always responded politely and nicely. I heard later that there was a reservation for 7:00 pm, so they were able to accommodate me until then. It seems that it's easier to make a reservation for one person at 5:00 pm. Additionally, for some reason, it can be difficult to make a reservation on weekdays, but Saturdays can be a hidden gem. The appetizer and barley water were great, and the prices were reasonable. The staff always packed the shochu so carefully that it made me happy. You can order yakitori one by one, which was perfect for me dining alone. The grilled liver was cooked to perfection when I asked for it to be a bit rare. The charcoal used costs 1000 yen per kilogram, which is both delicious and considerate. The chef, despite being busy, took the time to chat with me and made sure I was comfortable at the counter seat. I definitely want to visit again!

Undoubtedly the best yakitori restaurant in Kyoto! The grilling is perfect, with a nice char on the outside and incredibly juicy on the inside! And all this quality for around 150 yen per skewer, it's almost too good to be true! The appetizers were also delicious, I wanted to order more. It had been about 4 years since my last visit, but the staff remembered me which was so impressive. I will definitely go back!

I was truly amazed. The price was like a regular yakitori chain store, but the taste was equivalent to a high-class chicken restaurant with prices in the ten thousand yen range. The secret to its popularity lies in the exceptional taste and the incredibly low prices. Everything was juicy. The size of the carefully cut pieces seemed to be calculated perfectly. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) had a strong flavor, but were delicious. The chicken neck with wasabi was warned to be very strong, but it exceeded my expectations. It's a dish that goes beyond the usual standards in the culinary world these days! I highly recommend trying it out! Despite some minor flaws like the lack of variety in ingredients, the volume and cost performance make up for it. It's truly surprising! The location in Shijo-Karasuma is not exactly cheap either~

I visited the restaurant "馬耳東風" which is ranked 75th out of 100 in the 2019 Yakitori Top 100 list and in the 2018 Yakitori Top 100 list. It is located in Kyoto. The exterior of the restaurant has a white-based wall with large letters that stand out. The interior has counter seats and private rooms on the first floor, and three tatami rooms on the second floor. It is one of the top 100 Yakitori restaurants in Kyoto. Although it was my first visit, the restaurant was fully booked with reservations. The yakitori dishes were slightly larger in size, with a mild salt flavor overall and a strong sauce flavor. The grilling was done well and the dishes were delicious. Located in the heart of this bustling area, with this price and taste, it may truly be a friend of the salaryman. Isn't it a good restaurant?
