I returned home for a 3-day weekend, but only my friend was at home, so we decided to go out for dinner. My husband, who never takes us anywhere during the summer vacation, felt guilty and took us to a well-known high-end yakiniku restaurant. We arrived around 8:00 PM after making a reservation. We were quickly seated at a 4-person table with 2 L-shaped sofas and 2 chairs, and we chose to sit on the sofa. I thought about taking a photo of the menu, but there were too many options, so I gave up. For drinks, I had draft makgeolli (2,300 yen) and my friend had Wilkinson (500 yen). The large bottle of makgeolli was expensive, and even the carbonated water was pricey! For food, we ordered the Jyujyu-en salad (750 yen), kimchi (750 yen), grilled salted tongue with green onions (4,200 yen), a selection of three premium cuts (7,600 yen), harami steak (3,100 yen), side dish set (1,000 yen), and grilled seaweed (650 yen). We started with the salad and kimchi while sipping on makgeolli to prepare our stomachs. Looking around, we noticed many families dining there. The kimchi was watery and not very tasty, but the salad was good. Next, the tongue dish arrived, which we were instructed to fold in half with green onions and grill on both sides before eating. It was delicious! It was quite pricey at 700 yen per piece. Then, the premium cuts arrived - special sirloin, special loin, and premium fillet. They were 1,260 yen per piece, and we tried them with three different sauces - lemon, sauce, and salt sauce. They were all tender and flavorful. The side dish set included lettuce, perilla leaves, vegetable sticks, green onions, and garlic chips, which were great for adding variety to the meal. The grilled seaweed was crispy and tasty with sesame oil and salt. The harami steak was also delicious, and we ended up ordering more harami and lean loin, as well as cold noodles made with buckwheat flour. We finished our meal with complimentary ice cream. I felt light and satisfied, while my friend struggled with indigestion the next morning. Overall, it was a delightful high-end yakiniku experience.
