Enjoy a new sensation of Korean cuisine at "KOREAN DINING HAN-CHEF Shimokitazawa", where you can indulge in a course meal experience. Located just a 3-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line and Keio Inokashira Line, this restaurant opened on November 12 in the evolving neighborhood of Shimokitazawa. As you climb the stairs of a building in the lively shopping district near the station, you will find a chic and sophisticated restaurant. In Japan, Korean cuisine is often associated with affordable and approachable dining. However, at HAN-CHEF, you can savor each dish individually in a course style, paired with champagne or wine for a delightful dining experience. The courses are priced at 8,800 yen, 7,150 yen, and 5,500 yen, offering a modern twist on traditional Korean flavors. The menu includes unique dishes such as "Bossam Kimchi" with slowly steamed pork and Chef's special raw kimchi, "Homemade Naengmyeon" with a refreshing taste, and "Authentic Ginseng Samgyetang" fragrant with Korean ginseng and jujube. The 7,150 yen and 8,800 yen courses also feature items like "Kanjang Seu" (raw marinated shrimp) that can be enjoyed in one bite without getting your hands dirty. During a tasting event, we sampled recommended dishes and red wine from the 8,800 yen course. The first dish we tried was the "Chef's Selection Jeon", a dish made by coating seasonal ingredients in egg and flour and then baking them. The dish featured shiitake mushrooms, zucchini, and Nasu with a spicy-sweet sauce and natural salt. Next, we enjoyed the "Chef's Special Bossam & Raw Kimchi", which consisted of carefully steamed select pork wrapped in perilla and sesame leaves. The Chef's special raw oyster kimchi was a seasonal limited edition dish that was a perfect match with perilla leaves, Sanche, and Sanmu (pickled radish). The low-temperature cooked pork was tender and moist, and the raw oyster kimchi was exceptional. The "HAN-CHEF Original Bibimbap" was a vegetable-rich bibimbap with layers of shiitake mushrooms, cucumbers, carrots, ground meat, and rice topped with quail egg. It was served with red bibimbap sauce and green perilla and walnut sauce, providing a colorful presentation. The bibimbap sauce, which is an authentic Korean flavor, was enhanced with a hint of miso. The perilla and walnut perilla sauce offered a refreshing taste. For dessert, we enjoyed the "Hongsi", a popular homemade aged persimmon from Korea with a smooth texture. The "Korean-style Honey Beauty Tea" with Korean ginseng and honey had a gentle flavor and is believed to have detoxifying effects. The restaurant's ambiance is reminiscent of an adult hideaway, making it suitable for dates, girls' nights out, and special occasions. While walk-in orders are possible, it is recommended to make a reservation in advance when visiting. Indulge in this Korean cuisine course that promises not just a delicious meal, but also a beautiful experience from the inside out. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
