On this particular day, I walked from Shinagawa to Kamata along the old Tokaido road. Starting from Kitashinagawa, I had ramen at Wau, then visited the factory direct store of Yamato Food Industry located about a 7-8 minute walk from Shinbamba Station. Established in 1957, the company sells ham and sausages under the brand name Kaiser Ham, mainly in department store food sections. I have been curious about this company's headquarters factory, which can be seen from the Keikyu train, but it is not a place I often visit. Passing by the area this time, I took the opportunity to finally visit. The store is located on the ground floor of a red 6-story building, where Pizza Hut is also located, on the north corner. The store offers a variety of meat products, but it seems they do not offer custom-cut ham. While browsing the showcase, I was able to sample bacon and hamburg steak, which were quite delicious. In the end, I purchased a 400g pack of Iberico pork bacon offcuts for 600 yen. The bacon slices in the pack are quite large, with varying thickness. I cooked the thin slices until crispy like bacon chips, and quickly seared the thick slices to bring out the flavor of the Iberico pork fat. Both were delicious. With plenty in the pack, I used the bacon in various dishes such as bacon and eggs, bacon and asparagus stir-fry, and salad toppings, and enjoyed them very much. The taste, quantity, and price of this bacon are exceptional. It's definitely worth a visit even if you have to take a train.
