BERTH COFFEE ROASTERY is located around the midpoint between Kinshicho Station and Oshiage Station. The Haru roasting machine is prominently displayed in the back, giving a sense of authenticity. The café has narrow counter seats, a counter seat in front of the register, and larger chairs for a comfortable dining experience. The friendly and cheerful female staff smoothly explain the menu, creating a welcoming atmosphere with regular customers. I was impressed by the Guatemala Angelina Mendez coffee and the Chocolate Terrine with fig ice cream. The Guatemala coffee had a gentle sweetness and fruity acidity, while the Chocolate Terrine was rich and moist, complemented by the refreshing and fragrant fig ice cream. It was my first time trying this combination, but it was delicious. The coffee mugs were unique, with a pottery-like feel, adding to the charm of the café. They also accept PayPay payments.

I found out that the barista who used to take care of me at another store is now working here, so I went to visit. I always enjoyed the coffee recommendations I received in the past because they suited my taste, so I was hoping to get some more recommendations. Luckily, I arrived just when the barista was there, and I was very happy. I chose to enjoy a drip coffee in the store and also bought some coffee beans. Each of the coffee beans sounded delicious and perfect for my taste, so I had a hard time deciding. Eventually, I managed to make a decision. The Colombia Geisha drip coffee was meticulously brewed and it was absolutely amazing, just the way I like it. The Ethiopian Natural coffee I had at home was also delicious as expected. I regret not buying more because it was so good that I ended up drinking it every day. The roasted beans are truly delicious and they make a great cup of coffee in the store as well. I have decided to visit again to buy coffee while enjoying the view of the Skytree.

The interior of the shop is narrow with a roasting machine, so there are few seats. Unlike the sister store, the food is limited to muffins, carrot cake, and banana bread. ~Order content~ ■Banana bread ■Milk brew banana bread It was quite sweet, so I should have just ordered a regular coffee.

I visited the cafe on Sunday around 2pm. There were only two other customers. They had 6 types of drip coffee to choose from. They had samples of ground beans, so you could choose the scent you like! I ordered the Ethiopia Dimtu, which had a particularly fruity aroma. The coffee was delicious and just as I had imagined from the scent!

▪️Shop Name [BERTH COFFEE ROASTERY Haru] Visited a recommended cafe in Oshiage by a friend. It is said to be a sister store of BERTH COFFEE in Nihonbashi. Visited on a Monday around 1:00 PM and was able to enter right away. ✂︎┈┈┈┈┈┈Ordered Items┈┈┈┈┈┈☑︎ ETHIOPIA WURI @ 570☑︎ ANKO CANELE @ 300☑︎ ICE @ 200✂︎┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈Got a separate ice to go with the Ice On Canele. The modern and industrial interior of the shop has about 10 seats. A huge roasting machine is placed in the center, filling the pleasant space with the aroma of coffee. The Canele and coffee were served in about 10 minutes. The coffee has a gentle attack, with a hint of black fruit flavor, a mild astringency, and a long finish. The Canele has a crispy surface but a thick and moist inside! It contains red bean paste, with an elegant sweetness that harmonizes the Japanese and Western flavors. The lemon cream ice provides a refreshing acidity and citrusy accent. Located in a residential area, it is not too crowded on weekdays, making it a hidden gem of a cafe. The coffee is delicious, so I would like to visit again. It takes about a 10-minute walk from Oshiage to the south. It is located between Kinshicho and Oshiage, so you can also walk from Kinshicho. It seems like a sister store of Bar Coffee in Bakurocho. I visited around lunchtime on a holiday. Since the location is not in a busy area, it is not crowded. The small shop has a few counter seats on the right and a bench on the left, so it may not have a leisurely atmosphere for dining in. There is no place to store your belongings, so only counter seats are available. Nevertheless, I dined in on this day. There were tempting baked goods like banana bread and rum raisin pound cake, but I chose the chocolate terrine. Originally it was supposed to come with rhubarb ice cream, but they had run out of rhubarb, so it was served with sweet potato ice cream instead, which was a bit disappointing but understandable. I also had a milk brew. The beans change depending on the day, and on this day it was Geisha. It was delicious with the rich milk and coffee aroma. The chocolate terrine was rich and tasty. The sweet potato ice cream was not bad, but a lighter ice cream might have been a better match.

Located on the first floor of a hostel where travelers come and go, "BERTH COFFEE" is a coffee brand born out of that space. Drawing on the experiences and connections made there, Haru opened in April 2021. In addition to serving their own roasted coffee, Haru also operates as a share roastery and wholesaler, playing a role in spreading coffee culture. The name "BERTH" signifies a berth or a place of arrival and departure. It encapsulates the desire to deliver a cup of coffee to the people passing through, combining the feelings of producers, roasters, baristas, and everyone involved in coffee. The concept of Haru, "Roots & Sails," means to establish roots and set sail. Sometimes delving deep into the taste and diversity of coffee like roots extending into the earth, and sometimes raising sails with many people towards the world. With a deep expertise yet an open roastery, the aim is to mature coffee culture. On this particular day, I tried a rare dark-roasted Colombian coffee at Berth, known for their light roasts. It had a nutty flavor and was easy to drink with a rich taste. The accompanying sake lees ice cream was also noteworthy, made with the sake lees from Terada Honke's "Daiginjo no Shizuku" and junmai sake "Gonin Musume." The ice cream retains the texture of sake lees and the aroma and alcohol content of sake without being heated. <<Hand Drip (Colombia)>> 550 yen (tax included) <<Ice Cream Single>> 450 yen (tax included) Business Hours: Weekdays 11:30-18:30, Weekends and Holidays 8:00-18:30 Closed on Thursdays *For details, please check the latest information on their SNS. #berthcoffee #berthcoffeeRoasteryharu #OshiageCafe #OshiageCafeTour #OshiageGourmet #OshiageCoffee #OshiageSweets #KinshichoCafe #KinshichoCafeTour #KinshichoGourmet #KinshichoCoffee #KinshichoSweets #MorningCup #MorningCoffee #CoffeeShop #CoffeeSpecialtyShop #CoffeeBeanSales #CoffeeBeansShop #OwnRoastedCoffee @berth_haru

BERTH COFFEE ROASTERY Haru is located a 10-minute walk from the Skytree, on Tower View Street. They sell coffee beans and have a large roasting machine inside the store. You can choose from several types of beans for drip coffee, with friendly staff providing explanations. I tried the COLOMBIA NOGALES for 550 yen, which is a medium-roasted bean that had a citrus-like flavor. The MILK BREW for 550 yen is coffee brewed slowly with milk, offering a direct taste that some may find divisive. Personally, I prefer regular drip coffee. The Chocolate Terrine for 600 yen had a hint of fragrance, topped with Sichuan pepper ice cream. The Sichuan pepper aroma complemented the sweet and smooth terrine perfectly. The cafe has only a counter and bench seating, but the stylish interior creates a great atmosphere to enjoy the taste of coffee. It is a 10-minute walk from Oshiage Station at 2-7-2 Yokogawa, Sumida-ku, Tokyo.

Mr. Bakeman couldn't decide on a coffee, so he decided to try Haru, a coffee specialty shop. It seems to be a sister shop of Berth Coffee in Bakurocho, and it's a small cafe with a roasting machine. I chose Ethiopia for 550 yen, and my wife chose Guatemala for 550 yen. We also ordered an Anko Cannele for 350 yen. Both coffees were delicious. The Anko Cannele is a Cannele with red bean paste inside. I had tried a Panule in the shape of a Cannele a little while ago, but this one had a Cannele with red bean paste that was not too sweet, and it was quite delicious.

Coffee shop located on Tower View Street. The store was quite crowded, perhaps due to the good weather. - Nicaragua The aroma is very nice. It has a strong acidity with a lingering fruity aftertaste. - Cream Cheese Taiyaki I heard it's a limited-time offering. They use taiyaki from a shop in Hikifune. The skin is crispy, and inside there is plenty of red bean paste and cream cheese. It's a perfect size for a snack. This time I got it to go, but the staff's attitude and the atmosphere of the store seem nice, so I would like to try dining in next time.

The popular branch of Manseibashi Yokocho Cafe, unlike the stylish main store located in a hotel, still attracts people to gather. It has a small but warm and friendly atmosphere. The coffee has a fresh orange-like aroma and a rich, carefully brewed taste. I think it was Kenyan coffee... I missed taking a picture of the exterior...

I saw anko canelé for the first time and was curious about it. Finally got to try it. It's delicious! The canelé is soft and chewy inside, with a crispy outer surface. It's packed with plenty of anko filling, very satisfying! The anko is just slightly sweet, not too overwhelming. It's a nice combination of Western and Japanese flavors, like an anko croissant.

I had been putting off visiting the famous yakitori restaurant "Yakitori Trivian" in Asakusa, which is known for its delicious yakitori, but what I really wanted to eat was ramen for lunch (of course, I also wanted to try their specialty yakitori). So, I decided to go and hopped on a train, but when I checked on my navigation app, I realized that I would arrive at Asakusa Station around 1:30 PM, which is when the restaurant closes! So, I changed my plans and chose to go to "Chuka Soba Biriken," the top-ranked ramen shop in the Asakusa area on Tabelog. It was a place I hadn't visited before. After enjoying a delicious bowl of ramen at "Chuka Soba Biriken," I took a leisurely stroll to Kinshicho. Actually, when I decided to go to Asakusa, I also planned to visit another place I had been meaning to go to, "Sauna Kinshicho." As I walked towards Kinshicho, passing the Skytree, I noticed a street called "Tree View Street" that led straight towards Kinshicho Station. It seemed to have some nice shops along the way, so I decided to walk down this street instead of the more popular Fourth Avenue. After a while, I saw a trendy cafe called "BERTH COFFEE ROASTERY 'Haru'." It seemed like a new place run by a young woman. There was a large roaster inside the cafe, indicating that they roasted their own coffee beans. I ordered the "BRAZIL IPANEMA RIO VERDE" (550 yen) based on the girl's recommendation, as it was one of the stronger-flavored coffees available that day. While paying, I couldn't resist ordering the "ANKO CANELE" (350 yen) cake that caught my eye. The Brazilian Ipanema Rio Verde coffee from the Ipanema farm had a citrusy fruity flavor with a balanced acidity and a moderate bitterness, just as described. The "ANKO CANELE" cake was small but had a substantial feel to it. The chewy skin gave way to a soft, slightly sweet red bean filling, creating a delightful combination of flavors. It seemed like they sourced their cakes from a friend who was a pastry chef. I noticed that many customers were ordering the "MILK BREW," so I decided to try it too. I ordered the Honduras variety for a stronger bitterness. The "MILK BREW" was a cold brew coffee made with milk, offering a more milk-forward taste with the bitterness and richness of coffee, making it a sophisticated coffee milk. After enjoying my time at the cafe, I realized I had stayed for quite a while. It was a sign of a great place. Now, I need to head to "Sauna Kinshicho" before it gets too late.

This is a coffee specialty shop located in Oshiage! If you go straight towards Kinshicho on Tower View Street, you will find it. It seemed quite new, so when I asked, "Did it just open recently?" it turns out they have been in business since the end of April. I had no idea (^◇^;) The interior of the shop is fairly spacious, but there are no table seats, only long bench seats and small counter seats on both sides of the walls. Towards the back, there is a quite large open space, and apparently they will be placing a roasting machine there soon, so it seems like the shop is still evolving. Since I am completely clueless about coffee, I had no choice but to order an iced coffee and make a somewhat sarcastic remark about being ignorant of specialty shops. The kind female staff explained to me that they have coffee from Kenya and Guatemala. Guatemala is more acidic and has a light taste, which I understood. So, when asked which one I would like, I was at a loss. It must have been obvious that I was clueless. While I was there, an older man who arrived later ordered iced coffee, but even after receiving the explanation, he just said, "Anything is fine" or "Either one is fine" and abruptly ended the conversation. It seems like it could be quite stressful for the sellers at a coffee specialty shop that is supposed to provide relaxation. Due to the pandemic, it seems like they can't even engage in small talk easily. For the record, my response was "The staff's recommendation," which was quite a challenge. After some hesitation, the staff recommended the recently added Kenya, so I went with that. As I sat on the bench waiting, the coffee was served quickly! Now, how does it taste... Oh, they brought two cups. It seems they kindly let me taste the Guatemala as well. First, I tried the Kenya. It was on the stronger side, but since it was cold brewed coffee, it didn't have a harsh taste. It was just right, maybe even good. After tasting the Kenya, I tried the Guatemala. It was noticeably lighter in color compared to the Kenya. As explained, it had acidity and was refreshing. I think they mainly recommend Guatemala for customers who ask for iced coffee, as it was quite refreshing. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. If I were to drink coffee slowly at the shop or at home, I would go with Kenya, but if I were to drink it quickly on the go, I would choose Guatemala. The shop is located in a somewhat quiet area with moderate foot traffic, so it might be a hidden gem for a little break. Just keep in mind that there are no table seats, so you can't have a casual chat. They accept PayPay as payment.

A cafe in Kinshicho, Sumida-ku, Yokokawa. It has a simple and stylish atmosphere. They offer three types of coffee beans to choose from, all on the lighter side. I tried the Honduras coffee, which had a citrusy aroma and a nice balance of acidity. I also had the Milk Brew, a cold brew coffee with milk, made with light beans, giving it a refreshing yet rich flavor. They are planning to set up a roasting machine for customers to enjoy roasting coffee, which sounds very interesting. The staff was friendly and I will definitely visit here again. Thank you for the great meal.

In 2020, which was dominated by the coronavirus, many businesses struggled, but surprisingly, not many closed down. As we entered 2021, some businesses began to shut down while new ones opened or underwent renovations. I was curious about the new businesses that would emerge amidst the crisis, and soon noticed a coffee roastery with a stylish logo. The interior was unique, with a corner counter and a lot of open space, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The design may evolve in the future, but for now, it is a pleasant place to enjoy coffee. The pendant lights, made by a brass manufacturer from Toyama called futagami, added to the trendy ambiance. Coffee prices range from 550 yen. It can get busy on weekends, so if you want to enjoy conversation and coffee at the counter, it's best to visit on a weekday.

I was surprised to see a trendy coffee shop (which is also a roaster!) open on Tower View Street connecting Kinshicho and Skytree. There always seems to be customers at the shop, so it must be popular. I have visited a few times for a break during work or on weekends, and it seems like more people get takeout than dine in. The cold brew coffee I had in the summer was incredibly fragrant and delicious. They also have cute and tasty baked goods like canelés with red bean paste.

I requested that a wonderful coffee stand and roaster that opened at the end of April be registered on Tabelog since it was not listed. I was drawn to the store's design and cups after seeing a tweet about the opening on Twitter. The roaster is apparently yet to arrive. The L-shaped property seems to have been a former office or warehouse. There are entrances on both the street side and the alley side, both of which are open, providing good ventilation and a pleasant breeze. I ordered an Ethiopia Lefisa Natural for 550 yen. I chose this because I love natural Ethiopian coffee and had never heard of this region before. It was served in a cup with a warm appearance. The flavor I sensed was orangey, maybe a medium roast? Personally, I would have preferred it a bit darker to get a taste like orange peel chocolate. However, there was no sharp acidity, and the rich aroma of sweetness and oranges was quite impressive. The slight bitterness bothered me a bit, but for those who like light roasts or are used to them, it probably wouldn't be an issue. I also tried a Milk Brew for 500 yen (the second cup was discounted by 50 yen, so I paid 450 yen for it). I took it to go. Milk Brew is a milk cold brew coffee that has been gaining attention recently. It was my first time trying it, and it tasted like fruity milk. I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, this is good!" There was no bitterness from the light roast beans, just a high-quality acidity and fruity flavor. Even those who don't like coffee might be surprised by it. I highly recommend it. They also offer Guatemalan drip coffee and Guatemalan cold brew for those who don't like light roasts. I think they have a wide range of options for enjoying coffee.
