Last weekend... I went to the famous Kaosoi restaurant, Picoon, in Asagaya and had a lunch set with Kaosoi and Chimaki. Both were delicious, but in many ways, I felt disappointed with the Kaosoi. However, I happened to find a Kaosoi lunch place that I was interested in, not far away, and without taking the train, but within cycling distance. It was very affordable! I decided to go there on my day off and have been eagerly looking forward to it day by day. Originally, I was planning to go on a trip in December, but my work schedule changed again, and I ended up with fewer weekdays off, so I didn't feel like going far. Instead, I found this Kaosoi restaurant and decided to visit Kaosoi. I arrived at the restaurant, Kaosoi, after figuring out the location from the map. It is in an area that is not very convenient to reach by train, so I think only people who like walking, locals, or those unfamiliar with the area would go there. I had a good idea of the area as I used to pass by it frequently. The nearest stations are JR Oimachi Station and Keikyu Oimachi Station, with the closest being about a 15-20 minute walk from Heiwajima Station. If you take the bus, you can take the Mori 50 bus from JR Oimachi Station Bus Rotary via Toho Medical University to Kamata, and get off at the 5th stop, Sawada-dori Station, which is close. It takes less than 10 minutes on foot. After getting off at Sawada-dori Station, walk along the Kandai sign towards Koenji and Magome (refer to the Kandai sign), keeping to the right side. The bus stop is a good landmark to get off at. Walk straight ahead past the Cosmo Oil GS, then Workman, and further ahead. After passing the FamilyMart, continue straight ahead. You will see a pedestrian bridge, but do not cross the pedestrian bridge. Instead, go down the path facing the right side of the pedestrian bridge, go straight, and turn left to cross the Kandai. This is the shortest way. It is not very convenient to reach by train, so I used my familiarity with the area and cycled there. I arrived a little late around 11:30 and found that the opening hours had changed from 11:00 to 11:30. Since there were no other customers, I entered the restaurant without waiting. Of course, I ordered the Kaosoi for 700 yen! I had a good impression of the visually appealing and reasonably priced presentation from previous visitors' photos on Tabelog. After ordering the Kaosoi, a small dish with pickled mustard greens, red onions, and cut lemon arrived promptly. Since I was the only customer, I started a conversation with the person who seemed to be the owner. I mentioned that I had visited a famous Kaosoi restaurant before and shared my impressions. I also mentioned that I had found this restaurant when searching for a good Kaosoi place. The owner asked if I liked Thai food and confirmed whether I could eat cilantro, which is usually included in Kaosoi. We chatted for a while. Three construction workers or laborers, all men, suddenly entered and ordered Kaosoi. The Kaosoi arrived in about 5 minutes. The price was reasonable and the visual presentation was good. First, I took a sip of the soup. The coconut curry soup with spices was thin and smooth, unlike the thicker, more viscous Kaosoi I had tried before. It had a delicious curry flavor with a moderate level of spiciness. Next, the noodles were wide and straight, similar to fettuccine pasta. The texture was chewy and to my liking.
