This place in the neighborhood. It had been closed for a while due to the pandemic, but it had reopened, so I went there for lunch. The entrance was open and well-ventilated. The lunch menu featured their specialty dish, Kaosoi, which is a Thai coconut-flavored curry ramen. You could also choose dishes like Gapao Rice. I ordered the Kaosoi in a large portion. It seems they have also resumed their evening business, with a style resembling a mix of a snack bar and an izakaya. The Kaosoi had a surprisingly good flavor, not too spicy, with a complex mix of sweetness, aroma, spiciness, and umami that you don't often find in Japanese cuisine. The textures were varied, and the cilantro and seasoned egg were also good. Squeezing the lemon provided a refreshing acidity. The only downside was the lack of tissues inside, so it would be good to bring something to wipe off sweat. I liked the taste, portion size, and accessibility, so I will definitely go back. However, it might be difficult to target this place from a different location.

Today, I worked in Omori all day. I was worried if there were any restaurants nearby, but luckily I found some small eateries lined up in a residential area. I decided to try Kaosoy, one of them. It had a cozy izakaya-like atmosphere, and since it was almost noon and the place was empty, I planned to eat quickly and leave. But one by one, customers started coming in. Eventually, the small place was full, but it felt safe as the seats were lined up at the counter. I ordered the daily special, Gapao Rice for 700 yen. It was delicious and seemed to be a popular choice among other customers as well. The Thai dishes were expertly prepared by the skilled mother in the kitchen. The Gapao Rice had a nice kick to it without being too spicy, and the soup was rich and flavorful. It was affordable, delicious, and if this place were in the city, I believe it would have a long line. If I have work in Omori again next year, I will definitely visit this place!

From the first stop at "JHANEKO PASAL Royal Dining," a 15-minute walk towards Kamata along the JR railway tracks will lead you to "Khao Soi" @ Omori. This was my first visit to this restaurant, and the first thing we ordered was the following dish: A super spicy stir-fried chicken gizzard seasoned with oyster sauce, served with green chili peppers and coriander on the side, and a Thai recipe fermented sausage called "Limited Quantity Delicious Name" (I forgot to take a photo, but it was written on a whiteboard menu specifically for Thai dishes). We enjoyed these dishes with a cold beer!

Last weekend... I went to the famous Kaosoi restaurant, Picoon, in Asagaya and had a lunch set with Kaosoi and Chimaki. Both were delicious, but in many ways, I felt disappointed with the Kaosoi. However, I happened to find a Kaosoi lunch place that I was interested in, not far away, and without taking the train, but within cycling distance. It was very affordable! I decided to go there on my day off and have been eagerly looking forward to it day by day. Originally, I was planning to go on a trip in December, but my work schedule changed again, and I ended up with fewer weekdays off, so I didn't feel like going far. Instead, I found this Kaosoi restaurant and decided to visit Kaosoi. I arrived at the restaurant, Kaosoi, after figuring out the location from the map. It is in an area that is not very convenient to reach by train, so I think only people who like walking, locals, or those unfamiliar with the area would go there. I had a good idea of the area as I used to pass by it frequently. The nearest stations are JR Oimachi Station and Keikyu Oimachi Station, with the closest being about a 15-20 minute walk from Heiwajima Station. If you take the bus, you can take the Mori 50 bus from JR Oimachi Station Bus Rotary via Toho Medical University to Kamata, and get off at the 5th stop, Sawada-dori Station, which is close. It takes less than 10 minutes on foot. After getting off at Sawada-dori Station, walk along the Kandai sign towards Koenji and Magome (refer to the Kandai sign), keeping to the right side. The bus stop is a good landmark to get off at. Walk straight ahead past the Cosmo Oil GS, then Workman, and further ahead. After passing the FamilyMart, continue straight ahead. You will see a pedestrian bridge, but do not cross the pedestrian bridge. Instead, go down the path facing the right side of the pedestrian bridge, go straight, and turn left to cross the Kandai. This is the shortest way. It is not very convenient to reach by train, so I used my familiarity with the area and cycled there. I arrived a little late around 11:30 and found that the opening hours had changed from 11:00 to 11:30. Since there were no other customers, I entered the restaurant without waiting. Of course, I ordered the Kaosoi for 700 yen! I had a good impression of the visually appealing and reasonably priced presentation from previous visitors' photos on Tabelog. After ordering the Kaosoi, a small dish with pickled mustard greens, red onions, and cut lemon arrived promptly. Since I was the only customer, I started a conversation with the person who seemed to be the owner. I mentioned that I had visited a famous Kaosoi restaurant before and shared my impressions. I also mentioned that I had found this restaurant when searching for a good Kaosoi place. The owner asked if I liked Thai food and confirmed whether I could eat cilantro, which is usually included in Kaosoi. We chatted for a while. Three construction workers or laborers, all men, suddenly entered and ordered Kaosoi. The Kaosoi arrived in about 5 minutes. The price was reasonable and the visual presentation was good. First, I took a sip of the soup. The coconut curry soup with spices was thin and smooth, unlike the thicker, more viscous Kaosoi I had tried before. It had a delicious curry flavor with a moderate level of spiciness. Next, the noodles were wide and straight, similar to fettuccine pasta. The texture was chewy and to my liking. The ingredients included -

I visited a Thai restaurant called "Kaosoai" in a residential area about a 15-minute walk from Oimori Station East Exit on the Keihin-Tohoku Line towards Kamata in late November. The restaurant specializes in a noodle dish from the northern region of Thailand called "Kaosoai," which features boiled rice noodles and fried noodles. The cozy restaurant has a small counter with 6 seats, and it has a typical izakaya atmosphere. I ordered the "Gapao Pitang," which is a dish with fluffy fried minced meat and a deliciously spicy flavor. I also tried a mysterious dish called "Are" upon recommendation from the friendly Thai owner. It turned out to be a very spicy stir-fry with chicken and onions. Despite the intense spiciness, it was delicious and went well with drinks. I also enjoyed chatting with the owner and learning about her experiences in Japan. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I would love to visit again when I'm in the area.

Thai Cuisine Izakaya Oimori "Khao Soi" with a Pooh special offer! Sawaddee clap The Thai family that is making a leap in the Oimori area is familiar to Thai enthusiasts in the Oimori area, but another shop has opened! Although the location is hard to find with a red lantern and a mama-chari, this lovely izakaya has a counter-only setting. Thai cuisine includes about 10 dishes plus specials, and there are also many Japanese-style snacks. The counter has 6 seats, no Buddhist altar, no king, and the BGM is J-pop. The mama-san is from Chiang Mai and also holds a Thai cooking license, so you can trust the quality. The evening Thai cuisine menu can be found on the whiteboard. Gapaopitan Stir-fried Gapaopitan, Gapaopitan Tofu Cold tofu topped with stir-fried Gapaopitan, perfect for snacking. Gaeng Massaman Homemade paste with tender potatoes, peanuts, chicken, and carrots (Japanese-style carrots). Khao Soi, a Chiang Mai dish, features tender chicken char siu, a half-cooked egg like in Japanese ramen, and a must-have side of pak choy, purple onions, and lemon. The flat wheat noodles and fried noodles topped with coconut milk soup are not too rich and have just the right seasoning. Of course, you can add prik kua to make the Khao Soi spicy. Here's a Pooh special offer! If you say "I saw Pooh!", adding lemon will change the color, and you'll get a free Thai iced tea! Let's hope mama doesn't forget her promise (even if she does, no complaints will be accepted, so please understand). The fusion of Thai cuisine and Japanese izakaya style incorporates Japanese essence into Thai cuisine, but the basic authentic Thai cuisine is fantastic. Thai izakaya fusion is so cool! By the way, they also serve lunch, so please refer to the menu in the image below. Khao Soi Ota-ku, Oimori Nishi 1-3-26 080-7310-8305. Recommended Pooh rating: ☆☆☆☆

I had Khao Soi (Thai curry noodles). It had just the right amount of spiciness and a refreshing flavor. You can enjoy changing the taste by adding shallots and chopped onions. It had large pieces of chicken and a soft-boiled egg that was deliciously creamy. Thank you for the meal.

I happened to come across a Thai restaurant. All items are 700 yen. This time I tried their Thai curry ramen Kaosoi. Despite being 700 yen, the portion size was large and it was very delicious! I will definitely come back again ^^
