I had a long-awaited lunch meeting with people I met through work (o^^o)✨✨ They recommended a restaurant called "Fucha Ryori" where we had our reservation. It was my first time trying out Fucha Cuisine, which is made without any animal products. The dishes are created to taste like real meat or fish using ingredients like soybeans. Each dish was meticulously prepared and I enjoyed savoring every bite! Despite being animal product-free, the course meal was quite filling with generous portions. The ingredients and menu change with the seasons, so you can enjoy different dishes depending on the time of year (*^o^*)♩ I was surprised by the size of the chestnuts in the appetizer, they were so sweet and delicious! The seasonal matsutake mushroom steamed in a pot was also amazing. The flavor of the matsutake mushroom infused the dish and it was incredibly tasty!! I discovered many new and unique dishes that I don't usually eat (*^ω^*). The restaurant had comfortable private tatami rooms, making it a perfect place for business meals and gatherings. I think it's a handy spot for vegans as well, as they offer course meals for them. It's a bit of a walk from the station, so I recommend arriving with some extra time before your reservation!!

I went to a meal with acquaintances. It was my first time trying Shojin cuisine, but the Japanese course meal was delicious and creatively prepared. Every dish was wonderful. The only downside was when tofu was served with individual portions on shared trays, it would have been better if it was already divided for each person.

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant. The dishes were all carefully prepared, visually appealing, delicious, and wonderful. I didn't know much about Fucha cuisine, so I was even more surprised. Each dish was like a mystery to solve, which was a great experience. The staff were kind, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The Hishio shochu was also very easy to drink and good. I found out that this restaurant was featured in Mr. Rinbo's "Traveling for Deep Flavor" after reading it. Thank you for the delicious meal.

When I had lunch before, the portion size of the meal was generous, so I expected the dinner course to be large as well. I was very satisfied with the many dishes that came out over about 2 and a half hours. The variety of dishes, each in small portions, including unusual ingredients, was enjoyable both visually and on the palate. Despite eating slowly, the time passed quickly. I also like the ambiance, decor, and tranquility of the restaurant. Each room is a private tatami room with low seating, so it's comfortable. This is a restaurant I want to visit every year. I went after visiting Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa.

This restaurant has such a unique Japanese atmosphere and hospitality, with impeccable attention to detail, delicious food, and all at a great price. It's like something you'd see on a TV shopping program, but it's the real deal. Each dish is served in a small portion, allowing you to savor the flavors. The only downside was that there was only one type of hot sake available, but that's a minor issue compared to everything else being top-notch. It's a great restaurant that I would recommend to anyone.

I was taken to a restaurant that I really want to take someone to. My image of vegetarian cuisine (shojin ryori) has changed. Maybe it's my age, but the dashi broth and vegetable flavors were strong, and I felt like I could eat here every day with the delicious dishes. The dishes were not only beautiful to look at, but also satisfying without feeling the lack of meat or fish at all. The menu seems to change with the seasons. I want to go back before the next season comes. Thank you for the wonderful meal! ✨

BLOG POST Hello to all the vegetable lovers, those interested in veggies, and everyone who loves food! Today's topic is a follow-up to last year's Mother's Day veggie celebration. In this video and article, we revisit "Fucha Cuisine Bon" where the menu changes monthly but the overall experience remains consistent year after year. First, we enjoy the special Bonji sweets and incense from last year's Mother's Day. The main dish is the May version of the Fucha Bento, which includes a variety of dishes made without meat, fish, or the five pungent roots. The meal is accompanied by udon and tempura, including a unique butterfly-shaped tempura. The dessert, featuring seasonal fruits and agar, is always a treat. And of course, we can't forget the souvenir Bonji sweets. Each visit to Fucha Cuisine Bon offers a chance to enjoy the subtle differences in the menu. If you're interested, make a reservation and experience it for yourself!

BLOG POST Hello to all the veggie lovers and food enthusiasts out there! This time, I visited a restaurant called Fucha Ryori Bon for the first time this year. The menu changes a little bit every month, and when I asked regular customers which month they recommend, they all said March was particularly cute. So, I finally got to visit in March. The menu includes a tea ceremony, followed by a meal served in a Zen-inspired style. The meal included Zen sweets, this year's special deity's name in Bonji characters, and the main dish - Fucha Bento. The presentation was beautiful, with dishes like Sakura rice and a dish named after Yoshino Mountain, all reflecting the colors of spring. Each dish had a unique texture and flavor, including a delicious "unagi" dish that I particularly enjoyed. The monthly side dish, this time with cherry blossom mochi and lily root petals, was also delightful. To finish off the meal, there was a special treat of Inaniwa udon and tempura, only available on weekdays for lunch. The dessert included a variety of seasonal fruits and jellies. Overall, becoming a vegetarian has made my dining experiences more enjoyable, delicious, and exciting. I hope this review conveys the joy and satisfaction I feel when enjoying such wonderful meals as a vegetarian.

Recommended for vegans or those who do not eat meat. I tried a proper vegan dish for the first time and it was delicious. It may be different from a regular Japanese course meal, but as Shojin cuisine, I think it's tasty. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, and the cost performance is good. I was a bit concerned about the service, so I rated it slightly lower, but considering the current situation, I think the staff is doing their best. I would like to visit this restaurant again.

When it comes to shojin cuisine, temples and temple lodgings are well known, but there are also famous restaurants in Tokyo such as Daigo and Itamae. Both are long-established and have Michelin stars. Another renowned restaurant is a hidden gem established in 1959, located in a quiet residential area near the Onotori Shrine in Shitamachi Iriya. This traditional house from the early Showa period was once visited by John Lennon and his wife. The interior features a tokonoma alcove and ikebana flower arrangements, with a calming incense aroma and a quaint inner garden visible. This restaurant specializes in fucha cuisine, a type of shojin cuisine introduced to Japan by the Chinese monk Ingen during the Edo period. The owner trained at the Manpuku-ji Temple in Uji, Kyoto, where Ingen practiced. The meal, consisting of numerous beautifully presented dishes, lasts about two hours and offers a satisfying experience reminiscent of a traditional kaiseki meal, despite the absence of meat or fish. Each dish is meticulously prepared, reflecting the principles of "food as medicine." It was a cleansing and fulfilling dining experience that left me feeling purified from worldly desires.

One of the restaurants where you can enjoy Shojin cuisine, which is called "Bon." Their dishes, which do not use any animal products, are carefully crafted like works of art. The visually appealing dishes tailored to the season and using fresh ingredients are not only beautiful but also gentle and pleasing to the body. Although it may not be a casual place to drop by, it is a restaurant where you should go when you want to spend important time with important people. Shojin cuisine may seem difficult, but the staff will explain each dish carefully, so even non-vegan people can enjoy it. It seems that they have days off other than regular holidays, so it is recommended to make a reservation after confirming by phone. I visited this restaurant for lunch with a friend who is going to be stationed abroad. She has a high awareness of food and wanted to try this restaurant, so it was great to enjoy Shojin cuisine together. I would like to visit again when I want to spend time with important friends. The food was delicious on this day as well. Thank you for the meal.

Hello! I'm happy to be able to post a veggie article for Meat-Free Monday♪ This time, I wrote about a restaurant called Fumisan that serves traditional Buddhist cuisine. I had planned to visit with my mom for Mother's Day, but due to the impact of COVID-19, they were closed in April and May. So, we had a belated Mother's Day celebration there. It's always fun to find the differences between what changes each month and what stays the same. I hope to visit in a different month next time. Now, let's see what kind of meat, seafood, and animal product-free dishes they have this time! Check out the full article on my blog for more details.

This is a restaurant serving Shojin cuisine, which originated in China. It may not be very common in Tokyo. There is parking space for three cars, and if it's full, there are other parking lots nearby. All the rooms are private, with a faintly fragrant and calming atmosphere. We ordered the 8000 yen course, which uses dashi made mainly from kombu and mushrooms instead of bonito flakes. The seasoning was stronger than expected, making it enjoyable even for those not interested in Shojin cuisine. They also serve tempura without using oil, which was very satisfying. It seems like a good recommendation for vegans as well. The menu changes around the 10th of each month, so I would like to revisit soon.

Bom located in Taito District, Ryusen. A friend from overseas who is a vegetarian wanted to come here, so we decided to try the special meal offered on the day of the summer purification ritual. It has been about 10 years since I last visited, but now it seems to be even more popular with foreign VIP guests who are vegan or vegetarian. It is about an 8-minute walk from Iriya Station through a residential area. It is a charming house near Washijin Shrine. The restaurant has private rooms for all guests, and our room, which could accommodate 4 to 6 people, had a tokonoma alcove and a view of the greenery in the entrance garden from the window. Today, we opted for the lunch course priced at ¥5000. We were welcomed with dried sweets with the restaurant's name engraved in Sanskrit and tea. The course included: - Appetizer - Clear soup - Assorted dishes - Simmered dish - Boiled dish - Sesame tofu - Fried dish - Miso soup, rice, pickles - Fruit The dishes were simple but beautifully presented from start to finish. The June clear soup called "Shantou" had a hint of edamame flavor, and the presentation with ivy leaves on top added a summer touch, which raised our expectations for the following dishes. The assorted dishes called "Shunkan" included items such as sesame tofu, dressed vegetables, fried konjac, and ancient rice dumplings. The boiled dish was a miso stew from Nasu, which we particularly enjoyed. Despite the absence of meat, the use of vegetable oil in the dishes of the course kept the flavors interesting. The fried dish consisted of fried somen noodles shaped like fans, carrots resembling prawns, and burdock root. We finished the meal with rice, colorful pickles, and a dessert of mango jelly with longan, dates, and watermelon. The ¥5000 course was satisfying even for those with smaller appetites. If you want to enjoy a greater variety of dishes, the ¥6000-¥7000 courses might be a good choice (I might try this next time). A friend who had visited in the evening before had the ¥10000 course, which included around 14 dishes, and was so full that they could hardly move. The restaurant offers a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, but we opted for the hojicha tea this time. The total bill for the meal for two, including the service charge of ¥1000 and consumption tax, came to ¥5000. Payment is mainly in cash. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I have very little experience with Shojin cuisine, but I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant. It is known for its "Futsu Cha Ryori," which is a type of Shojin cuisine that originated from China but has a Japanese twist. I wasn't expecting much at first because there is no animal products used, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. The mock dishes were particularly impressive. The restaurant offers private rooms, creating a quiet and calming atmosphere. I would definitely like to come back again.

About a 10-minute walk from Iriya Station, this restaurant is located in a residential area and serves Fucha cuisine in a traditional house setting. While the exterior looks like a regular house, the interior is spacious and all private rooms, creating a charming atmosphere. There are two main types of Japanese Shojin cuisine: the Eiheiji-style Shojin cuisine and the Fucha cuisine, which is a Chinese-style Shojin cuisine passed down from the Obaku sect. Unlike the Eiheiji style, which views food as a form of training, Fucha cuisine focuses on enjoying the food itself. I visited for lunch and opted for the ¥5000 course, which consisted of 11 items. Despite not using any animal protein, the dishes were remarkably similar in taste and texture, impressing me. The meal started with tea and a small snack, followed by various dishes such as simmered aburaage resembling abalone, a clear soup with soba noodles shaped like leaves, and a variety of other creatively presented dishes. The meal ended with a refreshing fruit almond tofu dessert. Overall, the meal provided a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience, showcasing the wisdom and creativity developed over many years. I left with a bell in a bag labeled "Horaryo Sulu," feeling like good fortune was on the horizon.

I thought shojin cuisine was "not vegetarian or vegan, but without the five pungent roots," but I was pleasantly surprised. They prepared a completely vegan dish with the best techniques, served with polite and non-intrusive service and explanations. And all this at such a great price. With two half bottles and two draft beers, the total came to 20,000 yen! I feel like bowing down in gratitude for the incredible value. We were seated in a private room that was always used by a regular customer, thanks to his girlfriend. I can't help but get excited thinking about John Lennon and Yoko Ono possibly having the same meal in the same room in the past. I'll definitely be visiting frequently from now on. Thank you for the wonderful meal! (^。^)
