I arrived at the restaurant at 11:50 am on Sunday, being the first customer (they opened at 11:45 am). I chose a table seat for 4 people. I ordered the Beef Stew for 1100 yen. The dishes were served one by one starting with the salad. The Japanese side dishes went well with the rice (which was free for refills). The main dish, Beef Stew, was made with black-haired Japanese beef called "Kokura beef" sourced from Tanaka Market. The beef belly meat was simmered for 10 hours, resulting in a tender and delicious taste. The coffee served after the meal was freshly brewed and had a great aroma. The friendly owner surprised me by asking if I watched the World Cup soccer game. I had a great time and would love to visit again!

Beef stew lunch for 1100 yen. Ranked 18th in the national stew category, with a rating of 3.59 stars (as of the 3rd week of May 2022). This is a unique restaurant as it is the only one in Kitakyushu City that specializes solely in stew. I decided to order the beef stew lunch. The beef stew was served with spaghetti noodles at the bottom of the plate, topped with a mild-flavored stew. There were two large pieces of cheek meat that had been simmered until tender. The amount of stew was a bit on the smaller side, so towards the end, it became more like a beef stew broth. The lunch set included rice, salad, a side dish, pickled cabbage, miso soup, dessert, and hot coffee for 1100 yen. A great value. The owner seemed elderly, so please take care of your health.

In the past, there used to be a sushi restaurant called "Dairoku Azuma Sushi" nearby, and it seems that the people involved there used to do business in other areas before. Each sushi at this restaurant is truly delicious! They offer set meals and lunches. The set meal costs 1100 yen and includes stew, rice, miso soup, salad, various side dishes, dessert, and coffee. The lunch costs 825 yen and includes stew, rice, and miso soup. This time, I had the set meal, which was very filling. The stew with cheek meat was light and refreshing, but the pasta at the bottom was a bit dry. The rice was delicious, and the sweet rolled omelette, dessert (matcha and vanilla), and coffee had a great aroma. For 1100 yen, it was definitely worth it. I will definitely visit this restaurant again. The staff are a bit elderly, so I hope they stay healthy and continue running the restaurant for a long time.

I went to lunch with a friend at a beef stew specialty restaurant run by a former sushi chef. The place is located in Manazuru 1-chome, turn left at the "Hidai-mae Higashi" intersection on National Route 3 towards the Vietnam Ramen [Manpuku] side. The small restaurant has 5 counter seats and 1 table seat. The menu consists of only two types of beef stew: "Quick Lunch 825 yen" (beef stew, rice, miso soup, pickles) and "Beef Stew Set Meal 1100 yen" (beef stew, rice, miso soup, salad, sweet omelette, eggplant, pickles, dessert, coffee). Both of us ordered the "Beef Stew Set Meal." The set meal includes salad, sweet omelette, and gentle-flavored simmered eggplant as starters. After a short wait, the beef stew arrived, with chunks of beef, carrots, broccoli, and green beans. The stew is not too rich, but has a flavorful and smooth consistency. The beef is tender and falls apart easily. The stew is served on a bed of spaghetti. The chef, who started the restaurant with his wife at the age of 72, shared some stories with us. Despite his tough appearance, he was surprisingly kind and talked about his experiences as a sushi chef. Although sushi restaurants are more profitable, he enjoys the flexibility and satisfaction of running a stew restaurant. The restaurant operates on a reservation-only basis, but they also offer sushi (5500 yen per person for around 20 pieces, for groups of 4 or more).

Visited this restaurant in Atsuta after struggling to find a place for lunch due to many places being closed or fully booked. The menu offered Beef Stew Set and a Quick Beef Stew Lunch (or something like that). The difference was that the Beef Stew Lunch included beef stew, rice, and miso soup only, while the set also came with salad, appetizer, dessert, and coffee. The appetizer was rolled omelette and simmered eggplant, which had a delicious broth. The beef stew was served on spaghetti and included two chunks of beef, carrots, broccoli, and turnips. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The staff even saw us off at the exit, making it a pleasant dining experience.

Matsuru in Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City. Located across from the Kitakyushu Dental College. Just a little ways down a side street from the Higashi Dental College traffic light. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife who are both elderly. The menu consists of only one item, the Beef Stew Set (1080 yen). The set includes salad, side dish, pickles, rice, miso soup, beef stew, ice cream, and coffee. Each item is served separately. The salad includes a small amount of tomato, sunny lettuce, and cucumber. The side dish is tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) and simmered eggplant. The beef stew is not very soupy, with tender meat that falls apart easily. Underneath the meat is spaghetti. The rice is quite soft. The miso soup is light in flavor. The pickles are very sour. The ice cream is vanilla with fruit on top. Personally, just the vanilla ice cream would suffice. The coffee is light but satisfactory. The set is fulfilling, but the serving system could be improved by having all items served together, except for the salad, dessert, and coffee. Thank you for the meal.

This price comes with no shortcuts! You might think it's too good to be true, like it's too smooth or doesn't stick to the pasta, but there are absolutely no shortcuts taken here! It's the work of skilled sushi chefs with no shortcuts.

My husband, who was originally a sushi chef, serves a delicious beef stew lunch. He is very friendly and easy to talk to, so even first-time visitors feel comfortable chatting with him. This makes the meal even more enjoyable! ✨

A beef stew restaurant run by a couple. I ordered the 1080 yen (tax included) beef stew set. The meat was very tender and delicious. The set included a side dish, salad, dessert ice cream, and coffee to finish. It was a great lunch.

As others have pointed out, it's more like a beef sauce than a stew. The taste and simmering are good. The key is how to justify the price with all the extras included.

A friend told me about a stew specialty store that recently opened in Kitakyushu, which is quite rare in the area. I decided to check it out while taking a stroll. The store seemed familiar, and I recalled that it used to be a teppanyaki restaurant. The current stew shop was previously a sushi restaurant in Moji, and the signboard looked familiar. The menu only offered one type of beef stew lunch. The interior was unexpectedly Japanese-style, with a counter seating for six and one table for four, although most customers sat at the counter. I ordered the beef stew lunch with rice. The meal started with a refreshing citrus dressing salad, followed by a delicious tamagoyaki and octopus side dish. The stew featured tender meat with minimal fat, cooked to perfection. The sauce was light and made with whole tomatoes, which I preferred over the bitter demiglace sauce. The stew was served on a bed of spaghetti with turnips, carrots, and green beans as sides. The miso soup was sweet and comforting, reminding me of my hometown in Kyushu. The tableware was reminiscent of the previous sushi restaurant. The meal came with coffee, mango, and vanilla ice cream for an affordable price of 1080 yen. It was a high-quality and satisfying meal, and I had a pleasant chat with the unique owner and his wife during the quiet hours. I never thought I would see this type of restaurant in Kitakyushu, but I'm glad I did. I would definitely consider coming back for dinner in the future.

This is a small restaurant located about 20 meters from the Kyushu Dental University, opposite side of the road. It is a rare stew specialty shop in Kokura, with a menu sign offering "Beef Stew Lunch for 1080 yen". The atmosphere inside is quiet and elegant, with a clean and cozy feel. The owner, who previously ran a sushi restaurant for 46 years, opened this stew shop last year. The meal includes salad, egg omelette, stewed eggplant, beef stew, miso soup, rice, pickles, and dessert. The beef stew is made with local Kokura beef, cooked to perfection and served with a delicious demi-glace sauce. The miso soup is light and flavorful, and the dessert is a refreshing fruit-topped vanilla ice cream. The service is polite and attentive, making the dining experience enjoyable and satisfying.

Silver Week can also open the store & I solved the mystery of the stainless steel in front of the counter, so I'm re-UPping m(_ _)m After posting last time, I visited once and started taking pictures, and then visited for the first time (*^o^*) I visited after 1 pm with one previous customer☆ Previously, there were many reservations or it was always full for some reason... It seems to have calmed down a bit ♬ The master who loves to talk as usual ♡ In this stew, there were two big pieces of small Kurume beef, and while eating that, we talked about various things♪( ´▽`) I suddenly had a question this time, what should I call the area in front of the counter? I noticed the stainless steel groove-like thing and asked, "Master, what is this groove-like thing?" He said it was originally supposed to be for washing hands. Even though he had paid the waterworks contractor, they still hadn't finished the work even after six months of opening. When I said that's not good, he said to wait patiently... The master was too kind (^O^☆♪☆★☆★☆〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜☆★☆★☆ This review is a thank you for the apology and the delicious food I received m(_ _)m(_ _)m(_ _)m(_ _)m(_ _)m The other day (mid-April), I went to a motorcycle shop in Kamitotsu to change the engine oil of my commuting bike, Hyper~, and passed the intersection where Sakae-ya is located (I pass in front of Kazamidori-san) and turned right from the intersection where "I'm lovin' it!" is located. When I was waiting at the traffic light in Hadaemae Higashi, I looked to the right and saw a new-looking shop with "Stew Shop" written on the wall! The sign was still out, so I read it and saw "Beef Stew ¥1,080 Same as lunch"! I visited several times, but it was always full with reservations (I always make a reservation if I find it delicious, so I never make a reservation until I can visit←Stupid) or I couldn't enter because it was always full. I finally managed to enter today o(^▽^)o There are many curry shops (I haven't written a review myself, but) I have been disappointed after entering highly rated shops... So the stew set was not heard of as the main stew (There is only one Western-style restaurant I love in Fukuoka♫ But there are days without stew, and sometimes I have hashed beef or hamburger instead ( ̄▽ ̄))... So the hurdle was raised〜〜( ̄▽ ̄)〜〜 This will be a slightly reflective review. After finishing my business, I really wanted to visit this shop before going to Fukuoka, so I went to the shop as quickly as possible and entered at 14:11 (lunch is until 14:30). It was very rude of me to be late, and I felt sorry, but I had lunch. I received a salad and was told it was "on the house," and I received pumpkin simmered in soy sauce and rolled omelet, which reminded me of the taste of a sushi restaurant ♩ I always wonder why rolled omelets taste so delicious? Miso soup→rice and finally the long-awaited stew♬ I had a conversation with the master while eating, and as expected of a former sushi chef! The rice is delicious (⌒▽⌒) As expected of a chef who mainly handles rice, it's nice to have delicious rice♪ The stew was also made with small Kurume beef that I had only heard rumors about, and it was cooked very tenderly o(^▽^)o The stew itself was not the thick type of white sauce or demi-glace sauce, but a tomato-based one with a strong vegetable flavor and a light taste (I'm sorry if the expression is hard to understand, but I can't find another way to say it...) and it was very delicious (⌒▽⌒) The master said that it is easy for older people to eat, as there are many older customers. As expected, with over 40 years of experience as a sushi chef! (≧∇≦) The customer service is good (⌒▽⌒) By the way, he said he is now 73 years old (he looks a bit younger) He said that there are more adult customers than students when talking, students: adults ===========

This sushi restaurant has a beautiful and modern storefront, but the menu only offers beef stew. When you sit at the counter, you are simply asked if you want bread or rice. The beef stew is well cooked and has a light flavor. The side dishes and salad were delicious, and the miso soup was also tasty. The chef seems like a skilled sushi chef, but he is very talkative and engages with customers. Thanks to him, I ended up having a nice conversation with the customer next to me. When I was leaving, water started flowing from the counter and the chef kindly asked me to wash my hands. Despite his tough appearance, he is quite playful. He even escorted me outside, showing what a wonderful craftsman he is. However, I couldn't help but wonder why they only serve beef stew. What happened to this chef? I apologize for focusing more on the chef than the food in this review, but his presence left a strong impression on me.

In the vicinity of Makizuru in Kokurakita Ward, there is a relatively new restaurant. I had been avoiding it because I couldn't see inside from the outside. The menu only had beef stew, and I couldn't justify spending 1080 yen on a weekday lunch. Today, I had some extra money, so I decided to give it a try. It was around 1:30 pm when I entered the restaurant alone, and inside, it was small with four older women sitting at the counter. There were seats for about six at the counter and four at the tables. I sat at the counter. The setup made me think this was a sushi or Japanese restaurant. The chef seemed a bit intimidating at first glance. I ordered lunch right away. The dishes were in a Japanese style. First, I had a salad, a complimentary rolled omelet, then miso soup and rice with pickles. When asked about the rice portion, I chose a regular amount. The rice was soft and went down smoothly. Next, the beef stew arrived. It had turnips, carrots, and green beans with pasta underneath. The portion of stew was small, but it was delicious. The meat was very tender and the flavor was light, not too rich. I finished it quickly. As I ate, I was the only customer left. There was no background music, so the restaurant was quiet. I felt quite relaxed. I chatted with the chef while eating. Surprisingly, he was talkative and seemed kind (he was apparently over 70 years old). Finally, I had vanilla ice cream and hot coffee. The dishes came out one by one, so the small portions didn't bother me much. I settled the bill of 1080 yen and left the restaurant. The chef even saw me off... I can't come every day, but I wouldn't mind visiting this restaurant occasionally.

I casually came across a beef stew restaurant called "Dairoku Azuma" while browsing through Living Kitakyushu. The owner, who has been a sushi chef for 40 years, opened the restaurant at the age of 73, which was quite interesting. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was like a sushi place, which made me a bit nervous at first, but the kind owner and friendly staff made me feel comfortable. The restaurant is located in Mozu, Kokura Kita-ku, just off Route 3, near Haida-mae Higashi intersection. The parking lot nearby is always full, but I was lucky to find a spot that day. The menu consists only of beef stew. I started with a salad, followed by delicious egg rolls and miso soup. They use local Kokura beef for the stew. Dessert and coffee were included in the set for 1080 yen. The owner shared his passion for sushi and the restaurant's concept with me. If you're interested, why not visit this beef stew specialty restaurant in Kokura and experience it for yourself? Opening a restaurant at the age of 73 is truly admirable.

There is a new restaurant that has opened up recently, so I went to check it out in early March. I had written about it on my blog, but it wasn't listed on Tabelog yet, so I wasn't sure how to post about it. Luckily, someone had already posted about it, so that helped me out. The restaurant is called Stew Shop Dai Roku Azuma, and their lunch menu consists of only stew. The interior of the restaurant has a counter with six seats and table seating for four people. I sat at a table in the middle, which felt like sitting at a sushi restaurant counter. The owner used to run a sushi restaurant and always dreamed of making stew and rice dishes. The menu only offers stew, so I ordered without hesitation. First, a salad was served in a colorful porcelain bowl, with a yuzu dressing that was unique and delicious. The pickles were also tasty, and came with rice. The appetizers were potato salad and tamagoyaki, which had the taste of a sushi restaurant. The main stew dish arrived, which had a fruity flavor with hints of onion and tomato. The beef stew was made with high-quality beef from Kokura and was incredibly delicious. It was simmered for a whole day to achieve such a rich taste. The miso soup with tofu and fried tofu was also delicious. The meal ended with ice cream and strawberries. The lunch was a luxurious treat for only 1080 yen on a weekday. The restaurant was already full when I arrived, and two more customers had to be turned away. Apparently, female students from the dental college nearby are regular customers. I also noticed a dental student sitting next to me. The restaurant also offers sushi for groups of four or more in the evenings, starting from 4320 yen per person with a reservation required. I would love to try their sushi next time. Thank you to the chef for the wonderful meal. I will definitely be back. Stew Shop Dai Roku Azuma in Kotoku, Kitakyushu, Mazarui.

I came across this beef stew specialty shop while searching on Tabelog. The menu consists of only beef stew for 1,080 yen (tax included). However, in addition to the beef stew, side dishes such as salad and tamagoyaki are served before the beef stew is served. Rice and miso soup are also included. The beef stew has spaghetti at the bottom, the beef is very tender, the sauce is delicious, and it was very tasty. In addition, ice cream and coffee are included, making it a very good deal. The ice cream was vanilla with fruit on top. After paying the bill and leaving the shop, the owner came outside to see us off. The heartfelt dishes and attentive service made for an enjoyable time. There seems to be no dedicated parking lot, so I used a nearby coin parking lot to visit.
