On this day, I casually visited "Tori to Sakana Furuya."
◇Exterior and Interior
This yakitori restaurant is located in Hiraon, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. The restaurant is tucked away in a small alley between buildings, making it easy to miss if you're not paying attention. The exterior is a renovated old building, and the interior has a warm atmosphere. The restaurant is non-smoking inside, with ashtrays available outside.
◇Seating
There are counter seats, raised tatami mat seating, and table seats, with a moderate capacity.
◇Menu Structure
The menu is divided into regular items and daily recommendations. The regular menu includes skewers, oden, vegetables, side dishes, and fried foods, with skewers made from Takasaka Jidori chicken and oden using a rare chicken broth. The daily recommendations feature rare cuts of Takasaka Jidori chicken and suggested sake pairings. I ordered the following:
- Gobou (Burdock) (200 yen) → excluding tax.
I won't go into detail about the well-reviewed skewers, oden, and raw liver sashimi as many others have covered them. So, I tried something different... I'm not just being contrary. I ordered the Satayaki. Everything was delicious, as evidenced by the ratings, but the burdock on this day was labeled as being from Kumamoto. I mistakenly thought it was water burdock. It's quite difficult to express the deliciousness of burdock, but this one had a great aroma and a satisfying crunch, indicating good freshness. The thickness was consistent, and it paired well with the sauce. Even with just one vegetable, the fact that it was delicious speaks volumes.
◆Strong Points
A delicious restaurant that lives up to its difficulty in making reservations!
◆Service
Average.
◆Summary
With the use of Takasaka Jidori chicken, the skill in cooking was apparent, and this attention to detail extended to other dishes as well. The only downside was that by 7 pm, most of the rare cuts from the daily recommendations were already sold out. It's understandable, but it's a shame for visitors from outside the city. By the way, the complimentary egg was spot on! It's worth extra points just for that (laughs). Alright, let's finish up on the next visit! Thank you for the wonderful meal!
