Friday is not curry day, but I decided to visit the restaurant "SPICE & CLASH & ROCK'N'ROLL feat. Hakata Otokomae Yakitori" that was recommended by MyRebi. The restaurant is located on the south side of Nagahama Park on Oyakoko Street. Although I was aware of its existence, I had always passed by due to its funky name and the fact that it is primarily a yakitori restaurant open at night. This time, after reading the review, I decided to give it a try. It was 11:30 when I arrived, and I was the first customer with no one else in the restaurant. I chose to sit at the counter as I was dining alone. The counter had three bench-style seats, and there were two 4-person tables and one emergency 2-person table. The lunch menu consisted of Chicken Curry, Yagen Nankotsu Keema, and Sri Lankan Curry. Based on MyRebi's information that any combination would result in chicken overlapping, I decided to go with the "Chicken Curry" (1,200 yen, tax included). The operation was handled by the owner alone, and the serving time was about 10 minutes. The curry and rice were served separately on a white plate. The curry had a reddish hue in the center, surrounded by an orangish oily rim. The rice was long-grain Basmati rice. The aroma of the spices was noticeable even through my mask. The curry was quite spicy, and the combination of the watery curry and non-sticky Basmati rice was a good match. The curry had a Japanese-style spice flavor, and the meat was tender and easily came off the bone. The spiciness gradually increased towards the end of the meal, causing me to sweat slightly. Although there were additional spice bottles on the counter, I managed to finish the meal without using them. When paying, the young owner invited me to register on LINE. Normally, I would decline, but I was swayed by his friendly demeanor and the promise of a half-price coupon distribution. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. It's worth noting that there are many competing curry restaurants in the area, such as "Nanak," "Mugen," "Kirakira," "Bakin," "Zaeka," "Yukuru," and "Nakamuraya," all within a 5-minute walk. Additionally, there are other competitors near Nishitetsu Fukuoka Station. It seems like this area is one of the fiercest curry battlegrounds in the country.
