Once again, I had some business in Tachikawa and decided to go for a walk. I ended up at the restaurant area in Takashimaya, where I found the long-awaited Kojimaya. There were 4 groups ahead of me on the waiting list at 2:20 pm, but since I was dining alone, I was able to get a table right away. I ordered the seasonal dish of flounder tempura soba for 1,705 yen. They served me warm soba tea, but since it was hot, I opted for water instead. It arrived in about five minutes. The soba portion looked a bit small, so I probably should have ordered the large size. The flounder tempura was about the size of a sillago fish. It came with shishito peppers and eggplant tempura as well. I started by dipping the soba in salt. It had less sliminess than I expected, but the texture was good. The dipping sauce was lightly sweet and mild. The condiments were green onions and wasabi. The texture was great, and it was delicious as always. The flounder was tender but thin, so the flavor of the fish got a bit lost in the batter. The low salt content meant I used less dipping sauce, but I still enjoyed a bit of soba broth at the end. Delicious soba means the soba broth is also delicious, and I was very satisfied. I'd love to visit the Kojimaya in Niigata someday. By the time I finished eating around 3 pm, the restaurant was still full with 4 groups waiting. It was a great meal.

After coming back from the sauna, I came here with a friend. After sauna, I always feel like eating something. Now, how about "Nagaoka Kojimaya"? I ordered the set meal of soba noodles with hegi (wheat gluten) and a bowl of tempura. The tempura was crispy and delicious, and the hegi soba had a unique texture which was also delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Tachikawa Takashimaya has closed and is currently undergoing renovations. However, the restaurant floor is still open for business. I visited Koizumiya to use up my Takashimaya card points. Looking at previous posts, I ordered the same thing... Tarekatsu don and kakesoba set (extra large). It was nostalgic to eat after a long time, but I wonder why I didn't choose Hegisoba... haha. Thank you for the meal. What I ate: Tarekatsu don and kakesoba set for 2112 yen. *Soba extra large.

Hello~♪(^.^)/ 2022.11.25 Today, I was invited by the boss to Tachikawa. Last time, we had hamburgers at Nishizakuraya in Isetan. This time, I decided to go for the boss's recommendation, which was shrimp fry if we were going to the same place. But then, I was asked, "There's a delicious soba shop, but which one do you prefer, the Western-style restaurant we went to last time?" The way they asked, it felt like today was going to be a soba shop visit! I said, "I'll leave it up to the boss," but they ended up taking us to the soba shop... (laughs) Takashimaya is quite far from the station. We walked and took the elevator... And of course, it was the farthest from the elevator (laughs). We immediately toasted with draft beer♪ Since it was my first time, I wasn't sure what to order for appetizers. "What do you want?" "I'm fine with the boss's recommendation." So, the first thing we ordered was Morokyu. It's served with Kagura Nanban miso. I took a bite... Oh, it's spicy miso. Next, we ordered the Jumbo Aburaage from Tochio. Half was plain, and half was filled with Kagura Nanban miso. On top, there were grated daikon, green onions, and bonito flakes. I took a bite... Oh, the elderly love this kind of dish, right? Oh, by the way, the boss is in their early 80s. Next, we ordered the duck and green onion yakitori. You could choose between sauce or salt, so we chose salt. The boss also chose salt. Don't copy me~ Just kidding (laughs). Four thick slices of duck meat, two nicely grilled green onions, and a shishito pepper. This was really good. It had a slightly elegant seasoning, so I ended up sprinkling salt on it. After that, we ordered something else, and it was the Tamagoyaki. When it arrived, it was huge. I took a bite... Oh, it's sweet. As for drinks, we had beer, three types of sake, and soba tea mixed with shochu. Soba tea is tea made from roasted buckwheat seeds. Finally, it was time for soba. "If you like tempura, how about the Ten Hegi?" they suggested. But my stomach was somewhat full, and I thought the boss always orders dessert, so I said, "No, I'll have the Hanahagi." Hanahagi is basically zaru soba with chopped seaweed on top. The boss added grated yam to make it yam soba. They eat a lot, right? Even though they're over 80, they eat almost as much as me. Slurp... Oh, the soba has a great texture. The soba broth was a bit light, but I enjoyed it with every drop of soba soup. After finishing the meal, it was time for dessert. The boss always has ice cream. I was thinking about what to have, and then they said, "Well, shall we go?" Wait, you're not going to eat anything?! Damn, I should have gone for the tempura soba... (laughs) They never give me souvenirs. So, I brought a big bag this time, but when I looked at the boss's hands, they only had their own handbag! No souvenirs?! What was the point of bringing a big bag... Hahaha. Goodbye~(^.^)/

The chilled Hegi soba and crispy fried sauce katsu don were delicious. The sauce was placed under the rice, making the presentation neat and appealing. After watching movie Plan 75 in Tachikawa, I opted for the soba and katsu don set, even though some may prefer yakiniku. The movie theater offers discounts for seniors aged 70 and above, which I found interesting. I enjoyed the serene and elegant performance of Chieko Baisho in the movie. She ages naturally and beautifully.

I took a geography test and got 99 points, but I made a slight mistake in the character for "kata" in Niigata. I am Ayu, a 17-year-old high school student from Tachikawa spending the summer at Takashimaya. I visited a soba restaurant in the restaurant area and wanted to try their "hegi soba." I had only tried it once before, five years ago, at a soba restaurant in Ikspiari in Maihama when I was still a resident of Urayasu. It was almost forgotten, so I was looking forward to trying it again. The time was 12:50 pm, and there was a long line outside. I don't usually go to department store restaurants, so I didn't know they could be so crowded even on weekdays. I had to write my name on a paper at the entrance and wait. I hate waiting, but there were five groups ahead of me, so I had to wait. I observed people while listening to my favorite radio station. Ramen shops usually have a quick turnover, but this restaurant seemed to be slow. After about 25 minutes, my name was finally called. I was seated at the counter and given soba tea, a wet towel, and chopsticks. They even asked about food allergies, which was something I hadn't experienced outside of a hotel restaurant. I ordered the hegi soba (880 yen) and went to wash my hands while waiting. The soba arrived in about 5 minutes. Hegi soba is made by kneading seaweed called "funori" into the dough and serving it in a wooden container called "hegi." It originated in the Uonuma region of Niigata Prefecture. I started eating, and although I could smell the soba, I couldn't taste the seaweed. The soba had a good texture and flavor, but the seaweed was lost on me. The soba broth was sweet and had a strong dashi flavor. I don't like spicy broth, so the sweetness was a welcome surprise. I slurped up the soba quickly, even though it was a bit wet. The soba tea had a slightly thick texture and was served at the perfect time, just before I finished my meal. Overall, despite the long wait, the delicious soba and excellent service made it a positive experience. The only downside was that the restaurant seemed to cater mostly to elderly customers.

I used to live in Niigata, and sometimes I feel like going to Kojimaya, but it's not easy for me to go to Niigata. When that happens, I used to go to the store inside Isetan Fuchu, but a few years ago, with the closing of Isetan, the nearby store disappeared. However, after the move to Takashimaya Tachikawa, it became a distance that I can go anytime. Today, I felt like having Hegi Soba & Tare Katsu Don, so I went to the store. However, maybe because it was cold outside, during my walk to Takashimaya, my feelings changed from Hegi Soba to Kakesoba. Because of that, the photos turned out uninteresting. The taste was reliably good. I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal. By the way, Kojimaya on Christmas was unexpectedly full...lol Food eaten: Tare Katsu Don & Kakesoba set 1705 yen

On a day off, I planned my second daytime drinking outing of the month and headed to Tachikawa with my wife who had just finished her daytime shift. Our destination was the Rosemark SC restaurant area to satisfy the lingering soba craving from the night before (laughs). It must have been over 10 years ago when I first visited their branch at Echigo-Yuzawa Station on the way back from Katakage Onsen in Minami Uonuma during the harsh winter. I got hooked on their food back then. We ordered: Draft beer (first squeeze) ¥473 x 2, Kirinzan extra dry 150ml ¥616, Kitayuki Junmai Ginjo 150ml ¥935, Kirinzan Junmai Ginjo Yukinosita ¥891, Kitayuki Junmai Ginjo 80ml ¥484, Tarekatsu Mori ¥880, Octopus with Wasabi ¥462, Fried octopus ¥748, Heggisoba ¥880, Mushroom soup soba ¥1540. As always, the place felt unnecessarily spacious (laughs). We walked down the hallway and arrived at the restaurant at 3:45 pm on a weekday. As expected, there were no other guests at this time, so we took the corner seat at the back and relaxed. We started with a glass of beer for a toast, although the foam was a bit disappointing, we didn't mind (laughs). The joy of coming here is not only the heggisoba but also enjoying Japanese sake with the nostalgic "tarekatsu." Lately, I've been reminded of my late father quite often (laughs). There used to be a ramen restaurant called "Tofu" near my parents' house, and their katsudon was exactly like this tarekatsu. I wonder how a Chinese restaurant in Hachioji ended up serving tarekatsu? I have no way of knowing now, but my father always ordered the "katsuraisu" with rice served separately. Enjoying the tarekatsu and sipping on Japanese sake (in the style of Mr. Tato), I unexpectedly felt sentimental (laughs). When the guest next to us ordered, we decided to end our meal with the "mushroom soup soba." We enjoyed the cold heggisoba with a hot dipping sauce filled with plenty of Niigata-grown maitake mushrooms. The sauce, with its fragrant and mushroomy aroma, turned out to be unexpectedly delicious. It made me want to try making it myself using store-bought maitake. Thank you for the meal. We often have dry soba noodles at home, but the freshly prepared meal at the restaurant was undeniably delicious. We will visit again.

Every time I go to Niigata, I look forward to visiting Kojimaya. Since I haven't been able to go to Niigata, I've been wanting to eat here for a while. Today, I visited this place in Tachikawa. Even though it was just after opening, there were quite a few customers. First, I enjoyed the long-awaited sweet and rich-tasting rolled omelet. It's addictively delicious. Then, I had the seasonal mushroom tempura. I paired it with Kirin Yamadanishiki sake. Delicious! Finally, I had the buckwheat noodles I've been wanting to try. I went for the large serving. The unique texture and aroma were delicious. I couldn't stop slurping them up. It was worth coming all the way to Tachikawa. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

Dinner on August 29, 2021 (Sunday) with my partner. Had work in Agematsu in the afternoon. Dinner was in Tachikawa. Today, I decided to go to the restaurant floor at Takashimaya and ended up choosing Kojimaya, a restaurant known for their hegi soba. Upon searching, I found out that Kojimaya has various branches. This particular branch is managed by Nagaoka Kojimaya Co., Ltd. According to their website, "In 1922, Shigetaro Kobayashi opened a soba shop in Kawanoishi-machi, Nakanu District, Niigata Prefecture (now Jukamachi City), using seaweed as an ingredient. This was the start of 'Kojimaya.' Nagaoka Kojimaya was established by Nobuo Kobayashi, the fifth son of the founder, in 1965 in Nagaoka City. They now operate independently from the main Kojimaya branch and have stores in Nagaoka City, Niigata City, and Tokyo, as well as selling gift products in famous department stores, wholesaling raw noodles for business use, and conducting in-house mail order sales." We ordered two servings of Tempura and Hegi Soba (1980 yen each). The background music was modern jazz, but it was a bit monotonous. The tempura consisted of shrimp, smelt fish, shishito pepper, baby corn, eggplant, and pumpkin. It was crispy and delicious. The hegi soba had a unique texture, chewiness, and throat sensation. The broth was sweet with a hint of mirin. Overall, the hegi soba was delicious. Today's new COVID-19 cases were 3081 in Tokyo, 2362 in Kanagawa, 1463 in Saitama, 1207 in Chiba, 2389 in Osaka, 916 in Hyogo, 1385 in Aichi, and 957 in Fukuoka, with a total of 19307 nationwide.

I lined up in the morning at Takashimaya to purchase a limited edition item, and successfully got it. After shopping at Nitori, I decided to have an early lunch around 11 o'clock. I was craving for the refreshing taste of Hiyashi Soba, but when I saw the eel dish, I couldn't resist. I ordered the seasonal limited edition Eel Chirashi Don set. The Hiyashi Soba had a smooth texture which was perfect for my slightly weakened appetite due to the heat. The eel was chopped and mixed in a sweet sauce, making it easy to eat. One serving of eel was a bit much for me, but it was just the right amount when I wanted a little taste. They also offer Soba-yu (buckwheat tea) after the meal, which has a calming bonito aroma. It's a good menu to satisfy a small hunger and boost your energy a bit.

I visited Echigo Nagaoka Kojimaya Tachikawa Garden Tables store in Tachikawa City, Tokyo. It is located about a 4-minute walk from Tachikawa Station (290m), on the 9th floor of Tachikawa Takashimaya S.C. They have an underground parking lot. The Vegetable Tempura Soba (¥1,650) is made with soba noodles that have a smooth and chewy texture, with a unique seaweed binder. The broth is spicy and refreshing. The tempura is crispy and not greasy. Kojimaya's soba noodles are my favorite among the hie (buckwheat noodles) I have tried. However, there is something special about enjoying it at the main store with its atmosphere. Still, it's convenient to have it nearby.

This is a soba restaurant originating from Niigata, located on the restaurant floor of Takashimaya in Tachikawa, about a 5-minute walk from Tachikawa Station. They had been closed for a while due to COVID, but have reopened for business since the new year. I had the soba with vegetable tempura for lunch here. The soba had a good texture and was very delicious with a smooth finish. The vegetable tempura was crispy and excellent. Next time, I want to try the set with soba and sauce katsudon. This is a recommended soba restaurant in the Tachikawa Station area.

After a stormy day, the weather turned warm and sunny, and the apprentice went to pay his respects at the grave. The peaceful and cheerful feeling after visiting the grave seems to be felt only by those who have completed their greetings to their ancestors. The apprentice returned to Tachikawa and headed to the 9th floor of Takashimaya SC to fulfill his wife's request for "hegisoba" (soba noodles). Upon arrival, the apprentice chose a bottle of Kirin Ichiban Shibori beer to start, along with "itawasa" (thick sliced fish cake) and "tare katsu" (deep-fried pork cutlet with sauce) as appetizers. The nostalgic taste of the dishes, especially the tare katsu, brought back memories of a similar dish he had in his childhood. The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and welcoming, with a mix of older and younger customers enjoying the popular dish of soba noodles. The staff's attention to food allergies was commendable, and the additional dishes of "kagura nanban miso" (spicy miso) and "tori karaage" (fried chicken) complemented the meal well. The apprentice ended the meal with a satisfying bowl of "hegisoba" noodles, which had a unique texture and flavor due to the incorporation of seaweed. Overall, the meal was a devilishly delicious experience that perfectly complemented the earlier indulgence in sake.

We visited "Nagaoka Kojimaya" at the 9th floor of Takashimaya, just a 3-minute walk from JR Tachikawa Station North Exit along the pedestrian deck, around 3:30 pm with my partner. This soba restaurant reopened in Tachikawa in October 2019 and underwent renovations this year, reopening on December 27th. The interior is very clean and we were seated at the counter as the restaurant was almost full. We ordered the manager's recommended "Duck Soup Soba (1660 yen + tax)" and my partner ordered "Tempura Soba (1800 yen + tax)". The soba is all made with Niigata Uonuma specialty, Futo Nori, connecting Futo Nori soba is served ♪ After a while, our orders arrived. The hot duck soup was served separately in another bowl, with delicious duck meat and duck meatballs. The Futo Nori soba had a unique chewy texture and a pleasant throat sensation, very delicious ♪ We finished with soba-yu, feeling like we were in a New Year's mood with the long, thin noodles of the New Year's soba. The ingredients in the New Year's soba have special meanings, such as my partner's shrimp tempura symbolizing longevity, and my duck representing marital harmony, as duck mates for life, and duck leeks symbolizing good things. We visited "Nagaoka Kojimaya" for a late lunch at 3 pm with my partner, located about a 3-minute walk from JR Tachikawa Station North Exit along the pedestrian deck, on the 9th floor of Takashimaya S.C., opened in October 2019. Kojimaya originally opened in 1922 in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, serving buckwheat noodles with seaweed. Now, there are several Kojimaya restaurants with names like "Nagaoka," "Main Store," and "Echigo Tokamachi," all seemingly related. The entrance wooden signboard reads "Presented to the Imperial Family," making me feel a bit vulnerable to such titles. Today, we came to try the buckwheat noodles, so we ordered "Niigata-produced Fuki-no-to Tempura Soba (1450 yen each)" x2, with one serving as a large size (+200 yen). After a while, the finely chopped seaweed, buckwheat noodles topped with tempura were served. The buckwheat noodles made with seaweed only, called "Funo-ri" soba, had a firm and chewy texture different from regular soba, with a nice smoothness. The dipping sauce was slightly lighter and more refreshing compared to what I'm used to. The tempura, fried in sesame oil, included "fuki-no-to," "bell pepper," "shiitake mushroom," and "bamboo shoots." The seasonal Niigata fuki-no-to had a pleasantly bitter and sweet taste. Since this is a Niigata soba restaurant, they also offer a selection of Echigo sake, which would be perfect to enjoy with the meal. It seems like they also have a night soba menu, which could be worth trying. We finished our meal with soba water. Thank you for the delicious meal. "Nagaoka Kojimaya" is the only location in Tokyo, having previously been in Tachikawa (Grand Duo), then relocated to Fuchu, and now back in Tachikawa (Takashimaya S.C.). Welcome back! Great job! Tachikawa ◇ Soba restaurant ◇ [2-cho, Akebono-cho, Tachikawa City] Nagaoka Kojima Tachikawa Takashimaya S.C. store is located on the 9th floor of Tachikawa Takashimaya S.C. on the north side of Tachikawa Station. On Sunday, I took the JR Ome Line from Tachikawa Station to Kawabe Station, the starting point of the Ome Marathon in front of the Ome City General Gymnasium. As forecasted, it was drizzling from before 9 a.m., so I changed and took shelter from the rain at an elementary school gymnasium. At 11:30 a.m., I lined up at the starting line with 19,000 runners. The temperature was 9.7°C, and it turned out to be the perfect weather for a marathon with cloudy skies. Maeda Honami set a new Japanese record for the 30km women's race, and Kawauchi, who finished 8th, decorated the men's 30km with a V. I, an amateur runner, was able to safely reach the finish line. Before the race, I met a runner in his late 60s from Ehime Prefecture, and we decided to have dinner together. Both of us were staying in Tachikawa, so we met at the station and came to the 9th floor of Takashimaya. "What would you like to eat?" There was a sushi restaurant, an eel restaurant, and a Chinese restaurant, but the gentleman from Ehime said, "I feel like having soba." So, for the second day in a row, we ended up at a soba restaurant (bitter smile). We visited the restaurant around 6 p.m., and it was not crowded. The gentleman from Ehime didn't drink, so he had a glass of beer alone, saying, "Cheers to your hard work." Regardless of the race results, we both share a common hobby of participating in major marathons nationwide. We got excited talking about our experiences in Hokkaido and Kitakyushu even before placing our orders. I ordered the "Ten Hegi Soba (1800 yen + tax)," which came with hegi soba topped with plenty of shredded seaweed, shrimp, flounder, and 4 types of vegetables. It arrived in about 10 minutes, with freshly fried tempura on the side. I said, "Let's eat," and enjoyed the unique texture of the hegi soba with its rich broth. The tempura was also delicious, and I finished my beer, wanting to have 2-3 more, but I refrained as my companion wasn't drinking. We spent about an hour at the soba restaurant talking about the marathon, then parted ways at the north exit of the station, exchanging LINE IDs and saying, "Let's participate in another marathon together." Thank you for the meal (I still felt like drinking more, so I decided to go to another place).
