This is a yakiniku izakaya specializing in motsu dishes located near Takadanobaba Station. The menu mainly consists of motsu dishes. The spacious interior is divided into counter seats and table seats. I ordered a simmered set meal in a space where Showa enka music plays. The amount of motsu was generous and the taste was good, so I was satisfied with the low price. There are also skewers of motsu from different parts on the menu.

I wanted to drink a lemon sour at Takadanobaba, so I went there. They were having a beer fair for their 2nd anniversary, where you could get any beer for ¥100 each! Tempted by the announcement from the staff, I ordered. When the beer arrived, I also ordered four skewers of motsu yaki (offal skewers) - liver, heart, white, each for ¥121, and liver karaage for ¥308. Peanuts were served as a complimentary appetizer. I finished the beer and then ordered the lemon sour I originally wanted. The motsu yaki skewers were all of high quality for the price. The sauce had a rich sweetness and was delicious. The liver karaage had a generous portion and tasted like chicken karaage but with liver flavor. The lemon sour, despite the tough lemon used to squeeze it, had a refreshing citrus flavor that was perfect with the motsu yaki. The young staff member who served us was very good.

Until the 21st, draft beer is 110 yen, so I visited. As expected, since it's in Takadanobaba, most customers are students. The atmosphere is more relaxed at the Ebisu location of the motsu-yaki restaurant. The Shimokitazawa location also had many students. Here, you can choose the miso seasoning for the skewers depending on the part. I prefer the white miso flavor. They also have shichimi and karashi, which is great. The skewers are delicious! The salt seasoning is outstanding and it's only 121 yen, so cheap! We each had 3 glasses of draft beer and 7 skewers, along with squid and pickles, for 1500 yen per person. I'm happy it's always cheap, but this time it was even cheaper!

This is the second udon restaurant review. The place is famous along the Tokyu Toyoko Line if I remember correctly. We walked into the long restaurant and sat at a table. We started with a Hoppy set in white for a toast. Hmm, this tastes weird. This alcohol is quite low quality (laughs). For appetizers, we had macaroni salad, simmered pork offal, tofu with spicy sauce, and potato fries. The pork offal was fluffy and well-cooked, very delicious. The tofu with spicy sauce was rich and would probably taste amazing with rice. The potato fries were fried perfectly and tasted great with mayonnaise. Overall, all the appetizers were delicious. By the way, it seems Inogashira Goro enjoyed the tofu with spicy sauce. The place was full of students and very noisy (laughs). Next time, I'll go for a highball instead of Hoppy. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for the second time. Thought it was full, but was told we could be seated after a short wait. The interior was narrow like a maze of eels, but easy to walk through without bumping into anything. Ordered a Hoppy set, which was quite satisfying. Enjoyed the following dishes: peanuts for appetizer, simmered tripe, spicy pork and tofu dish (not as spicy as expected, but still enjoyable), and black potato fries which were tasty with added mayonnaise. As it was our second stop, we quickly enjoyed the meal and paid. Thank you for the meal.

After visiting a cat cafe, I was wandering around looking for a place to have a drink and stumbled upon "Motsuyaki Ban"! I didn't realize they had a location in Takadanobaba too! I knew they had shops in Naka-Meguro, Gotanda, Sangenjaya, and Shimokitazawa, but having one in Takadanobaba was a surprise. The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious, with plenty of table seating and a counter where you can enjoy drinks alone. They still have their daily specials like Daikon Salad, Motsu Stew, Hanpen Yaki, Motsuyaki, Nukazuke, Onion Slices, Potato Fries, and Tongue Toro Yaki. We ordered a variety of dishes and the total for one person was in the 2,000 yen range. As expected, Ban is affordable, delicious, and just the best.

I visited this restaurant "Motsuyaki Ban Takadanobaba" for the first time, located about a 4-5 minute walk from JR Yamanote Line Takadanobaba Station. I visited on a weekday Thursday around 4:30 pm and was able to enter smoothly without much waiting. We ordered some appetizers that go well with alcohol! - Harami (¥121 tax included) - Liver (¥121 tax included) - Kikuabura (¥121 tax included) - Abura (¥121 tax included) - Kashira (¥121 tax included) - Tachiuo tempura (¥528 tax included) - Large bottle of beer (¥682 tax included) - Total amount: ¥1,815 (tax included) As for the taste, we ordered all the motsuyaki with sauce, and they were all delicious with a satisfying texture. The limited menu item, tachiuo tempura, was a bit fishy but crispy and went well with beer! Overall, motsuyaki here maintains a high cost-performance ratio and quality, providing a consistently delicious experience. Thank you for the meal! If I have the chance, I will visit another location in the future!

On Sunday, a little after 3pm. I planned to go to a nearby curry izakaya that is closing at the end of the year, only to find out it was closed. I thought they were open all year round, but maybe they don't open on Sundays. I had arranged to meet friends in Bamba specifically for this place, so I was disappointed. We decided to just go into any place, and ended up here. It used to be a miso sauce gyoza izakaya from Hyogo Prefecture or somewhere, but now it's a famous motsuyaki restaurant known for inventing lemon sour. Some friends who had been to this Takadanobaba branch before said it was not that great, but I was curious to see for myself. In conclusion, it was a total letdown. - Lackluster service. - The appetizer was a small bowl with a few peanuts for three people. - The layout was long and narrow, and we were seated at the back where the staff rarely came. - The grilled dishes were just not up to par. Takadanobaba is a fierce battleground for motsuyaki restaurants. There are top-notch places like Takadaya, Hayashiya, Otonba, Terutero, Mitsubo. To be frank, this place didn't measure up in terms of service and food compared to these other places. I have been to the main branch in Naka-Meguro and the branch in Yutenji, but this place with the name "ban" was just a separate shop in name only.

There is a shop about a 3-minute walk from Takadanobaba Station. The interior is spacious, with about 15 seats at the counter and 15 table seats near the front of the shop. There is also a large table seating area at the back where about 50 people can sit. The prices for food and drinks are cheap. As this is the birthplace of sour cocktails, I tried the umeboshi sour. Normally sours are made with lemon, but I felt like trying something different with umeboshi. I also ordered a 5-skewer assortment of grilled skewers, all with sauce. They were all cooked to perfection and delicious. The shiro (beef intestines), for example, had a crispy texture on the outside and a chewy, hormone-like texture on the inside, which was delicious. The kashira (cheek meat) and abura (pork belly) were tender, with a fragrant sauce, making them even more delicious. I also had macaroni salad, which had a refreshing taste that paired well with the drinks and grilled skewers. I would like to visit again.

I saw this restaurant on Instagram and had saved it. I was nervous because they don't take reservations after 8 pm, but surprisingly we were able to get a table easily. We ordered a platter of 10 different kinds of motsu-yaki (grilled offal) and a few other dishes. The mega lemon sour was huge! The motsu-yaki was delicious, even though we couldn't tell which part was which. The other dishes were cheap and served quickly, living up to our expectations. When we paid, it was just a little over 5,000 yen for three people, which was incredibly cheap. We'll definitely be back! We had to move to a tatami room because the table was too low. It would have been nice if everyone spoke a bit quieter, as it was hard to hear each other over the noise.

I used to go to the one in Naka-Meguro often, but I saw it in Takadanobaba so I decided to try it. The motsu pon, liver cutlet, tonbi tofu, highball, and hot sake were all delicious. Tonbi tofu is made with pig's tail, which is interesting! It's quite spicy. I tried to make it even spicier by adding shichimi, but the lid wasn't on properly and it spilled everywhere, leaving me in agony haha. Be careful. However, the liver cutlet wasn't as impressive as the one in Naka-Meguro. Maybe it was the temperature? Thank you for the meal!

I drew a joker for the first time in a while at "Motsuyaki Ban" in Takadanobaba. I hope it was just a coincidence that today's shift was so bad. I had high expectations because the same store in Nakameguro was fantastic, but I was extremely disappointed when I visited the Takadanobaba store today, to the point of being not just angry but also bewildered. First of all, why were there so many sold-out items right after opening? Were they not prepared? I ordered the omakase 5-piece set and added 3 more skewers, but there were duplicates of liver in the omakase. And on top of that, out of the 8 skewers, 3 of them were liver, which is unacceptable. I felt like I got a bad deal. When serving, there was not even a word of explanation for each skewer, they just placed them silently. The service was lackluster and there was too much chatter among the staff. But what's even worse is that half of the skewers were burnt to a crisp and tasted bitter. Even if I had received an explanation, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. It hasn't even been an hour since opening, but you could hear loud voices from the kitchen saying "●● and ●● and... Yama (sold out)" in front of the customers. Unbelievable words were being thrown around during peak hours. Just being there made me extremely uncomfortable, so I left early. I should have gone to the Nakameguro store after all. It seems like this store has been open for a year, but they really need to improve their grilling, service, and management. The QSCM level of this store is too low. They need to work harder, especially in Takadanobaba where there is a lot of competition. As a chain store, they should be more aware that they are representing the company's brand. I thought to myself, "I'll never come back to the Takadanobaba store again." However, I did receive a voucher for a lemon sour, so maybe I'll come back next month to check again.

I went for a haircut, visited some bookstores, and ended up buying a shumai bento from Sakai Kishimen at the store above Takadanobaba Station before quickly returning home to focus on my studies. I headed out without any pressure. Walking around in scorching Tokyo could be life-threatening. Now, without saying, this place is where the famous lemon sour originated. I particularly enjoyed the variety of side dishes. The karatonbi was still spicy and delicious. Diving the grilled motsuyaki into this spicy bird and eating it with extra spiciness was great. The pickled vegetables were also really tasty. I went for a second serving and finished with a crispy set. Having a long chat at a motsuyaki restaurant is just uncivilized. I declare the bar in Takadanobaba the winner. I will definitely come back.

Grilled beef tripe set meal in Takadanobaba. It had been a while since I visited Takadanobaba. I decided to try the grilled beef tripe that I had seen before. There were no other customers. Old songs were playing loudly. I don't know any of them. Maybe takeout orders are more common. The food arrived. I ordered the white and red beef tripe, and something else. I sprinkled some shichimi spice on top. It was delicious. The meat had a nice fatty texture. It was my first time trying rice with grilled beef tripe. Even with just pickles and macaroni salad, the rice was enjoyable. Thank you for the meal. The cost performance seems good. They only accept cash. The service at the restaurant is also good.

- Motsuyaki set meal ¥680 tax included
Located less than a 3-minute walk from Takadanobaba Station on the JR Yamanote Line, this izakaya is a branch of a famous izakaya known as the birthplace of lemon sour. It used to be a gyoza izakaya, but somehow changed. I should really come at night to enjoy a lemon sour, but since I mainly eat out for lunch, I decided to go for lunch. I'm happy that I could have a set meal at a reasonable price. The interior of the restaurant was filled with enka music, and it was just me and some tough-looking guys as customers. There were several options for lunch sets, but I felt like I had to try the motsuyaki as the restaurant's name suggests, so I had the motsuyaki with sauce. The motsuyaki, the restaurant's specialty, was served with a salty sauce this time, but there was also an option for salt. It included various parts of offal like heart, gizzard, and liver, marinated in a salty sauce. Personally, I thought that the sauce could be a little sweeter with more sugar, but maybe the slightly salty taste goes well with alcohol. The fluffy cooked white rice, miso soup with tofu and seaweed, pickled vegetables, and a potato salad with a hint of black pepper filled me up perfectly. This was really good value for money. I want to try it with salt next time, have a lemon sour, and come back for dinner when I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

"The year-end party for the 'Nomareru Kai' was held at the izakaya in Takadanobaba. Let's go to the bar on the first floor of the same building for the second party.
Motsuyaki Ban Takadanobaba Store
A long-established motsuyaki restaurant founded in 1958. The curtain says, "Established in Showa 33, the birthplace of highball sour." It seems to have a close relationship with Hakusui-sha, which is famous for the jingle "Warunara High Sour♪". I wonder if they don't have Hoppy Beverage, a rival company's product? I entered while thinking about such things. Perhaps because it's Sunday afternoon, there were no customers. I was surprised because motsuyaki ban is always full and has a lively atmosphere. I quickly looked at the menu and... they have Hoppy! I wonder if the female president of Hakusui-sha will be angry? lol Following the local customs, I ordered a High Sour and... Cheers♪ I don't usually drink sours, but when I do, they taste good.
- Maguro Yamakake (Tuna on Grated Mountain Yam) ¥480
The sticky texture and deliciousness of the tuna, enhanced by the grated mountain yam.
- Garlic Grilled Whole ¥320
Eating the fluffy garlic brings out a dynamic flavor and aroma.
- Cheese Wonton Fry ¥280
The crispy texture of the wonton is good♪ The hot and melting cheese flavor is also good♪
- Motsuyaki (Various) ¥110
Heart (Salt) / Head (Sauce) / Nankotsu (Salt) / Oppai (Salt)
Someone who ordered "Oppai" (breast) was debating whether to have it with sauce or salt. Then someone said, "Whether they're sagging or withered, they're all the same," and everyone burst into laughter. What a nice comment♪ Wow, your mind works fast. You really made me laugh!

I was looking for a bar in Takadanobaba and came across a place that is said to be the birthplace of sour cocktails. I entered out of curiosity. The customers seemed to be mostly college students. They had a set where you could add lemon and grapefruit to your lemon sour, similar to how you add hops to beer, which I found interesting.

Located just a short walk from Waseda exit of Takadanobaba Station, this izakaya specializes in motsu-yaki (grilled offal). The interior remains unchanged from its previous tenant, Gyoza Akaboshi. The lunch menu offers a variety of set meals at reasonable prices, such as motsu-nikomi (stewed offal) set for 580 yen, motsu-yaki set and grilled fish set for 680 yen, and sashimi set for 880 yen. Extra rice and side dishes are available for an additional 100 yen each. They also offer a lunch set that includes motsu-yaki and lemon sour for those looking to enjoy a midday drink. I ordered the grilled fish set for 680 yen, which came with a generous portion of grilled mackerel, rice, miso soup, pickles, and potato salad. The fish was fatty and flavorful, making it a satisfying meal. Despite being told there would be a slight wait, the food arrived promptly after about 15 minutes. The restaurant had only one other group of customers, so the atmosphere was not conducive to lingering. I paid in cash and left feeling satisfied with the meal.

There was a branch of a popular motsunabe restaurant from Yutenji, where sour originated, in Takadanobaba. It was quite crowded with young people drinking sour energetically and loudly. The atmosphere was not to my liking, so I quickly left after trying a few bites. The quality of the grilled dishes was inconsistent, and personally, I found the motsu stew to be a bit too strong in flavor. Well, maybe it will improve in the future.

College students who boast about their strong drinking abilities should try this place at least once. This izakaya's specialty is the "Lemon Sour," which you can adjust to your liking by mixing shochu (or chu-hai), sour (from a bottle), and freshly squeezed lemon. A recommended combination is one full glass of shochu, half a bottle of sour, and half a lemon (or a whole lemon). Despite having a higher alcohol content compared to other izakayas, this drink doesn't taste strong, making it easy to drink quickly. Be careful not to overdo it! ⚠️

I hurried to go to Baba ni Mo Ban after seeing ALD's review that it had opened! The interior of the restaurant had a row of counter seats surrounding tables against the walls, with over 10 tables in total. The street view was of Tokyo, Shinjuku-ku, Takadanobaba 2-16-3, Kashiwa Building 1F. You can see the interior of the previous shop. For me, the interior of a restaurant is very important information. Some places are fun with shoulder-to-shoulder seating, but in the current world, that is not allowed. Just looking at the interior of a restaurant is enjoyable, so I wish all restaurants had a street view. The seat I sat in was a small 2-person table behind the counter seat of the unstaffed area. The table was small, so I had to balance the speed of ordering and eating. It was extremely narrow, with a shelf for condiments, but it seemed like you could slide a bottle of beer underneath, although it was actually a trap. There were no luggage storage baskets or shelves under the table, so I had to stretch to put things in. There was only a shelf above my head, so it might be tough for shorter people. There was a wall (or pillar?) behind, giving a sense of being enclosed, making it a comfortable seat. Opening hours are from 11:30 am to 4:00 am, and they also serve lunch sets during the day.
