On this weekend day, I took a day trip to the Denentoshi Line and Setagaya Line areas with a Tokyu one-day pass. I tried to visit a very famous bakery next to Matsukage Shrine, but there was a long line and the bread was placed uncovered by the tracks, which made me a little scared given the ongoing situation with over 200 confirmed cases. So, I decided not to make a purchase. Instead, I decided to visit Matsukage Shrine for a prayer and on my way back, I discovered a shop just before the shrine. It looked like a typical local butcher shop, with a line forming at the fried food section on the left side of the store. After my prayer, I revisited the shop and purchased their signature items, the "Matsukage croquette" for 100 yen and the "special minced cutlet" for 150 yen from the wide selection of about 20 items. I also bought some high-quality chicken meat, "Oyama Dori," which I usually buy from Seijo Ishii or Platinum Don Quijote. I got three pieces of chicken thigh meat and one piece of chicken breast meat. The croquette I received was still warm, which was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed it in a nearby alleyway, with the fluffy yellow potatoes, crispy coating, and a delicious taste. The minced cutlet I brought home was also quite good, with a generous amount of sweet onions. I cooked the chicken thigh meat with Hokkaido daikon in a simmered dish, and then grilled some chicken breast meat with just salt, both of which turned out delicious. If the chicken meat is of this quality and affordability, I would like to try their beef and pork as well. The shopping street that stretches on both sides of the station where the Setagaya Line intersects with the railway line has a mix of trendy and conscious shops, as well as traditional local businesses like this one. Visiting this area made me appreciate the charm of this neighborhood even more.

To Setagaya Ward Legal Affairs Bureau. I wanted to have lunch nearby but couldn't find any place that caught my interest. I decided to walk to this place as it seemed intriguing. Based on reviews, the menchi-katsu seemed to be popular, so I focused on that. However, I ended up ordering the classic choices of karaage and chashu as well. I was surprised by the affordability of the food here. They also had a wide variety of options like fried oysters, chicken cheese, and stuffed eggplant. Although the food wasn't freshly fried, it was still delicious. But the menchi-katsu here doesn't beat Suzuki in Soshigaya-Otakan.

From the poolside of a southern island, I uploaded a review on Tabelog♪ Sorry for the delay in responding to comments - I will reply when I return home. Now, let's talk about Wakabayashi Shotengai. As far as I know, this shopping street has been around for a long time. The shops have changed, but I hope this old-fashioned butcher shop continues to thrive. During a home party at a friend's house, someone suggested going for a walk, so a group of tipsy middle-aged men and women headed to the shopping street. Setagaya Ward is famous for its bakeries, so we briefly visited one before indulging in a variety of fried foods at Niku no Someya. Wow, I want to try everything! They recommended the menchi katsu, so I had it on the spot! Oh, it's 150 yen...surprise. I resisted the urge to add Worcestershire sauce and tartar sauce like a condiment shop and managed to hold back from sandwiching it between bread. The freshly fried menchi katsu was crispy and juicy. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the nostalgic menchi katsu.

I always wonder why the deli at the butcher shop in the shopping street is so delicious. Are they doing something special, or just sticking to the basics? Well, it doesn't really matter. I just want to order some freshly fried food and enjoy it crispy. I'll eat it without any sauce, just bite into it. Simple and delicious. I really think this is what's good.

In the evening, in front of the store, there's a pile of bicycles, double-parked cars, children, dogs, and strollers causing a traffic jam. But inside the calm store, when you ask for a 300g cutlet, they grab it in one go. Even if it's not precise, hurry up because everyone is waiting in line, is ignored. So, you end up ordering three more croquettes.

I want a new shop in the neighborhood. Delicious. I like croquettes. Pumpkin croquettes would be nice. While I was hesitating, I ended up buying a lot of them. Whenever I visit Matsuo Shrine, I always stop by here.

The "Ham Cutlet ¥130" with a thickness of about 1cm was by far the most delicious I have ever had. I must go back again.

I stopped by for a quick bite on my way back from visiting the shrine. The croquettes at Matsukage were delicious. Next time I go, I plan to also get the grilled pork and minced meat cutlet.

Whenever I go to Matsuo Shrine, I always end up buying from this shop, even though I have been there many times before, this is my first review. On rainy days, there is no line and you can easily buy, but on sunny days there is usually a line. I recommend trying the local specialty "Matsuo Croquette". I'm not sure what the difference is between this and a regular meat croquette, but because it's a local specialty and only costs 90 yen, I always buy the "Matsuo Croquette". However, my favorite is the "Crab Cream Croquette" (130 yen). The lady at the shop is very friendly and kind, she always says "it's just been fried" and gives me a freshly fried one, so I can enjoy it hot and fresh right there at the shop. They also have sauce next to the cash register, so I often eat it with sauce on the spot. They also sell various fried foods such as chicken nuggets, spring rolls, quail egg tempura, and fish fry, making it a popular shop.

Exploring around Matsuo Shrine-mae Station, I found a nice-looking butcher shop. I tried the Matsuo Croquette (100 yen including tax) which is named after the area. It was freshly made with a crispy coating that wasn't greasy. The texture of the potato filling was slightly soft with bits of skin left on, and the natural sweetness of the potato was evident. The seasoning was minimal, allowing the deliciousness of the ingredients to shine through. Overall, it was simply delicious.

This Niku no Someya also visited during the Bakumatsu Ishin Matsuri. The meat shop's meat dishes are a sure thing! There's no way they're not delicious, with various items being sold and bustling with activity. Of course, you'll end up buying the meat shop's croquettes. Well, they're just normal, a normal-looking, normal croquette. But it's this simplicity that makes it delicious. Even without sauce, it's tasty. We must cherish towns with meat dishes.

When you come to Matsuo Shrine, be sure to try the juicy menchi katsu from Sometani. It's packed with flavor and very oily, what you might call greasy. It's always busy, with about 5 groups waiting even in the morning. The croquettes and roast beef are also delicious. There's sauce at the counter for dine-in customers, but I prefer mine without. The batter is coarse, the frying light, the meat quality is A5, the taste rich, and there's plenty of oil. Parking is available at the coin parking lot next to Matsuo Shrine.

The butcher shop in Matsukage Shrine shopping street is an old-fashioned, nostalgic shop. In the evening, it gets crowded with customers buying side dishes. I visited with the intention of buying Matsukage croquettes that I had been curious about, but ended up buying many other items that caught my eye. Matsukage croquette - a truly old-fashioned croquette that tastes just like a classic potato croquette. Delicious. Menchi - a rare long and narrow shape with pointed ends. It has a mild meat flavor and tastes refreshing and delicious! Tonkatsu - made with brand pork, this tonkatsu has delicious fatty meat! Char siu - rich in meat flavor, the more you chew, the more delicious it gets. Potato salad - has a nostalgic taste that warms the heart. Macaroni salad - the mayonnaise is not overly sweet, creating a good nostalgic taste. Miso-marinated pork - the fatty pork is delicious, but the miso contains a lot of garlic, making the smell strong. It would be even more delicious without the garlic. There are still more delicious items to try, so I will visit again.

When I went to the ward office, I happened to pass by a shop on Matsukage Shrine Street. It's about a minute from Matsukage Shrine. The shop is a butcher shop, but it also has a homemade deli corner. I love croquettes, especially from butcher shops. Simple croquettes that don't need anything fancy, no need for sauce or anything. The taste is just right. The croquette tastes simple, with the sweetness of onions, smooth potatoes, the umami of minced meat, and a thin crispy coating. The croquettes from the butcher shop I used to love had that kind of taste. That shop is closed now, so I can't eat them anymore, but the croquettes from this shop had a similar nostalgic taste and texture. I really like that taste. On that day, I bought "Matsukage Croquette," "Char Siu," "Shrimp Dumplings," and "Thick-cut Ham Cutlet" to take home. The char siu goes well with rice or can be eaten as is. It's also good with ramen. The fat content and thickness are perfect, and it comes with sauce, but it's delicious even without it, and even better with sauce. The shrimp dumplings had a nice shrimp flavor and were satisfyingly light and crispy. The ham cutlet was thick and had a satisfying texture. It's been a while since I've had deli from a butcher shop, and it was delicious! I would definitely drive out of my way to buy from this place. They also had a variety of classic deli dishes. This shop must be like a housewife's kitchen in the neighborhood. I'll visit again soon. Thank you for the croquettes!
