Located in the area of Tenjin 1-15-3, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, just a 5-minute walk from Tenjin Station on the subway line. This restaurant opened in July 2013 and is known for its focus on beef tongue dishes. The main branch is in Kiyokawa, and they also operate three other popular branches in the 300 Steps Yokocho of JRJP Hakata Building. Reservations are required at all locations due to their popularity.
The restaurant prides itself on its wide variety of beef tongue dishes. They always have a large stock of beef tongue, which they age after careful sourcing and purchasing efforts. The exterior of the restaurant is two stories high, with counter seating on the first floor and private rooms, while the second floor offers table seating and a casual atmosphere. The clientele tends to be on the younger side, with many Korean and Asian customers, as well as a significant number of female patrons.
During the visit, the reviewer enjoyed dishes with the beef tongue logo, such as the "Domestic Tongue Sashimi" and "Tongue Yukhoe," paired with beer. The Domestic Tongue Sashimi was particularly delicious, with high-quality meat and great flavor. The Tongue Yukhoe, while likely made with foreign beef, was well-cut and served with egg yolk, creating a decent balance of flavors.
Various additional dishes were ordered, such as "Grilled Beef Tongue," "Grilled Beef Tail," "Beef Skirt Steak," "Smoked Beef Tongue," "Beef Tendon," "Kimchi," "Pickled Cucumber," "Pickled Myoga," "Daikon Salad," "Smoked Beef Tongue Cream Cheese," "Beef Tongue Pate," and "Beef Tongue Menchi Katsu," to pair with drinks. The standout dishes were the "Beef Tongue Cheese Hamburger," "Smoked Beef Tongue Cream Cheese," and "Beef Tongue Pate," which paired well with white wine.
The reviewer found the "Smoked Beef Tongue" to be less impressive. When the "Grilled Beef Tongue" was served on skewers, the reviewer found it to be flavorful, especially the Tongue Element, with an acceptable amount of fat. It would be a suitable introduction for those new to eating beef tongue. The "Grilled Beef Tail" was well-cooked, but the seasoning for the stewed dish was too strong for the reviewer's taste. They suggested reducing the seasoning and opting for a simple salt and pepper seasoning instead.
For dessert, the "Stubborn Father's Fried Rice" was delicious, as per its reputation. However, the "Iron Plate Garlic Rice" could use some improvement. The reviewer concluded that this is a restaurant they would like to visit occasionally and expressed interest in trying the beef tongue shabu-shabu next time.
