On sunny days, I have a designated spot to go for lunch. During my work lunch break, I take a one-station walk there and back. I enjoy a fresh vegetable buffet with a main dish that is Asian-inspired and spicy. The capsaicin helps to increase sweating and boost metabolism. The rice bowls are quite filling, so I recommend getting a half bowl and half noodles. The spicy broth from the noodles helps to refresh your palate from the rice bowl. There are power outlets available, so I can charge my phone while listening to a playlist of Western music that I love on my earphones, gazing at the blue sky from the window counter seat. After finishing my lunch, I head to the drink bar for tea, coffee, and various types of tea. They also provide take-out cups, so I grab a drink to go while walking back to work, ready for the second half of the day with a cheer! Go, go, go!! \\\\٩( 'ω' )و //// ===========

"Tomoru Chaya" opened in September 2022 on the first floor of JR East Japan Hotel Mets Tokyo Bay Shinkiba, located in front of Shin-Kiba Station. I had lunch here. There are three lunch menu options, each priced at 1,150 yen. I ordered the Yamawasa wasabi roast pork set meal (1,150 yen). You can choose between white rice and multi-grain rice, and I chose multi-grain rice. For an additional 320 yen, you can add a buffet. I added the buffet (320 yen), which includes a salad bar and a drink bar. I headed to the salad bar and drink bar right after ordering. I had orange juice before the meal and coffee after the meal. The Yamawasa wasabi roast pork was tender and had a refreshing flavor. The seating arrangement is spacious. I enjoyed a leisurely hotel lunch.

<3rd visit> This time, I brought a senior colleague from work and ordered a half pho & half curry. We skipped the salad bar and just went for the drink bar to save money. The pho had a refreshing lemon flavor and a spicy kick from the black pepper, with a slightly rich seasoning that complemented it well. The curry had a fusion of cheesy richness, tomato acidity, and herbal aroma, with a crunchy texture that balanced out both the pho and curry nicely. They also have power outlets available, which was convenient for charging my phone. It wasn't too crowded or noisy, so I highly recommend it.

Second visit. I chose the window counter seat that I like, and today I was in the mood for seafood, so I chose the grilled silver salmon with yuzu salt. They change the menu every two weeks to keep repeat customers from getting bored, which is great. The grilled silver salmon with yuzu salt was perfect, with a nice spicy kick that complemented the saltiness of the salmon. The grated daikon radish helped to mellow out the saltiness. They added cilantro to the salad buffet, and I tried it for the first time. Surprisingly, it had a refreshing scent and no strong taste, which made the salad even more enjoyable. It was my second visit, and the food was still delicious. The female staff member I met on my first visit remembered me, which was a pleasant surprise and made me happy.

1/2 (Mon) 8:10 am I entered a store near Shin-Kiba Station, but most of the shops were closed, probably due to the New Year holidays. However, I was able to use the café during the breakfast buffet time for hotel guests at Hotel Mets Tokyo Bay Shin-Kiba, which is located on the first floor. I asked if I could use the café, and they kindly accepted my request. I enjoyed a cup of hot coffee at the counter, which warmed both my heart and body. Thank you for the meal!

Entered the restaurant around 13:30. The interior was spacious with high ceilings, and the natural light coming in from outside was very pleasant, creating a relaxing atmosphere. When I asked the staff about the menu, they kindly explained everything to me. The lunch menu includes plate dishes, 3 types of hot pot dishes, and 2 types of half noodles & curry. The plate dishes change every 2-3 weeks, and the hot pot dishes also change irregularly. This means you can enjoy a variety of options without getting bored. I look forward to coming back each time. This time, I ordered the chicken curry hot pot. For an additional 220 yen, you get access to a salad buffet and a drink bar, which is a great deal. The chicken curry hot pot had a coconut flavor, with chopped shiso leaves and watercress adding a Japanese touch. The aroma of the shiso leaves and the texture of the watercress complemented the chicken curry perfectly. There are power outlets at the counter seats by the window and the central counter seats, so I was able to work on my phone or laptop comfortably after the meal. Lunch is served until 3 pm. The salad bar and drink bar are removed at 2:30 pm, so make sure to enjoy them before then! Thank you for the delicious meal.

The Kojimachi Coffee, located on the first floor of Hotel Mets Tokyo Bay Shin-Kiba, closed on January 16, 2022. When I visited in September 2022, a new restaurant had opened in its place. The restaurant was offering a buffet discount coupon for 220 yen off (valid for a salad and drink buffet). I visited around 12:30 pm and the place was not crowded. The interior had a two-story high atrium with a nice view outside, creating a sense of openness. I ordered the weekly fish plate for 1,100 yen, with a choice of white rice or mixed grain rice. I opted for white rice. Later, I tried to use the buffet coupon but the male staff seemed to have forgotten my order. The salad buffet included a variety of vegetables including kale and coriander from their own farm in Kitamimoro City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The soup of the day and drinks were free-flowing. The fish plate for the week was butter ponzu grilled cod. The portion was modest. The cod had a delicate flavor but was a bit difficult to separate from the skin. During payment, I chatted with the staff about the new opening. They mentioned they were hoping to attract regular customers soon. As I left, I noticed another food shop under the train tracks that I thought had closed was actually still open. It seems like a sign of the neighborhood's revival along with this new restaurant.

JR East Japan Hotel Mets Shinkiba is located on the first floor in front of Shin-Kiba Station. A new store opened in early September, replacing the previous one. They offer a cafe menu with a Japanese theme during the day. For breakfast, they serve dishes like Fukagawa Meshi, but the clams seemed to be in small pieces rather than whole. It's understandable for a business hotel breakfast. They also offer desserts like Shiratama, but the listed ingredients were nowhere to be found. Maybe they are using descriptions from daytime menu for breakfast? Perhaps they are still new and inexperienced. Hopefully, they will improve over time.
