I have become a heavy user of the restaurant near Shinjuku Gyoenmae Tokyo office, frequently using it for breaks and meetings. My go-to order is the usual set of iced coffee M and Milano sandwich. This shop is one of the few in Shinjuku Gyoenmae with a smoking area, which is very convenient.

Doutor is a chain store located near Shinjuku Gyoen Park in Shinjuku. It's a great place to relax and spend some quiet time. The prices are affordable, which is a plus. You can read a book or study here, so I will definitely visit again!

I wandered around looking for a place to have breakfast! Around here, only chain stores offer breakfast on Saturdays! That's okay, it's not a residential area after all! So, among them, I decided to come to my favorite Doutor coffee shop! They have a new menu item, a Hokkaido charcoal-grilled pork sandwich for 440 yen! I had to try it! The mushrooms and pork are delicious! And I love the slightly sweet sauce! It was really good! So, I finished it in a few minutes. It was delicious.

According to previous reviews, there used to be incomplete smoking separation, but now smoking seats are separated into a separate room with glass doors, ensuring complete smoking separation. On this day, I ordered an Ice Decaf Coffee (S size) for 220 yen including tax. Nowadays, there are more coffee shops offering decaf coffee. In this shop, they offer decaf options for their blend coffee (S size), cafe latte, and iced coffee. However, some other Doutor Coffee shops do not offer decaf options for their iced coffee. The atmosphere inside the shop was calm and I was able to spend a comfortable time there.

Located less than 5 minutes from Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station, this is what you might call a "white Doutor" - bright interior, completely non-smoking. Despite being on the opposite side of Shinjuku Gyoen (park), the place tends to be quite busy with seats filling up quickly throughout the day. I had some business at Shinjuku Gyoen, so I walked from Shinjuku Station to the Doutor Coffee Shop Shinjuku 1-chome Minami store. There are quite a few cafes around this area, it seems. It's located along a main street near Shinjuku Gyoen. The inside of the shop is bright and clean, but it was crowded on Sunday. It was a bit smoky, with the smoking section feeling slightly larger. I tried the Americano coffee, which was easier to drink than I expected. However, it felt like the portion size was smaller than before. Maybe it's just my imagination?

I was looking for a place to work near Shinjuku Gyoenmae, but it seems like there is only a Tully's. Since it's a bit far, I decided to go to Doutor where Softbank Wi-Fi is available, but there are no power outlets. It's located one street off Shinjuku Street where Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station is, and I used it over 10 years ago. I remember it being quite crowded on weekends, but it was empty around 7:00 pm on weekdays. It was quiet, so I could focus on my work. The iced coffee here never disappoints. I drink it regularly.

Among Seattle-style coffee shops, I think Starbucks is best for hot coffee, but for iced coffee, I prefer Doutor. Starbucks' iced coffee feels like "they just cooled down hot coffee," but Doutor's is a straightforward iced coffee. I haven't researched what makes them different though. I used to rely on "Liquid Ice" in the summer, but since last year, I mainly go to the Nambu Post Office in Fuchu.

Since my friend smokes, we chose the smoking section, which seemed a bit more spacious than the non-smoking area. However, I think the current strength of the coffee is just right. Overall, Doutor is a reliable choice for passing the time, no matter which location you visit.

Because it is a chain store of Doutor, the taste of coffee and other drinks, as well as the cakes, are basically the same as other Doutor stores. The appearance is very nice, but the smoking area is narrow and feels cramped. There is a door (automatic) separating the smoking area, which is good for non-smokers to enter, but maybe not suitable for smokers. It's a tough world for smokers. However, since there is proper separation, smokers can smoke without worry, which may be good. One thing that can be said for all Doutor stores is that the chairs are a bit small. It may be to discourage long stays, but for a 184x100 body, it's tough. Some Doutor stores may have more spacious seating areas, so perhaps there are more comfortable options available?

Shinjuku Gyoen Station, on the way to Yasukuni Street. Recently, Butachan has been wandering around this area for work, so I stopped by for a break. When I'm tired or have some time to spare, I sometimes drop by here. After all, it's cheap. And on this hot day, I'm not hesitating to have a warm drink. I ordered a Small Hot Cocoa for 230 yen. The interior of the store is long and narrow, with a counter on the right side and smoking seats at the back. I sat near the entrance. The seats are comfortable, like climbing stairs. There's no smell of cigarettes. The taste is as expected, I like Doutor's cocoa. I like to break down the whipped cream on top with a spoon and enjoy it. The temperature is just right, not too hot, so it's easy to finish even after some time. As I sit there, I notice the takeout products lined up in front of me. I'm impressed that Doutor even has tea. I initially thought the store was small, but the atmosphere is quite nice. It has become one of my favorite Doutor branches.

The staff asked, "Smoking or non-smoking?" and I replied, "Either is fine." They then kindly guided us to a less crowded area. Even though it was Doutor, the service was really nice! By the way, it's close to exit 2 of Shinjuku Gyoen. I'm glad there's a Doutor here!
