I found a half-price deal on a plate of Kyushu black wagyu beef and grilled vegetables at the Depachika in Nihonbashi. The plate included steak with potatoes, leeks, red bell peppers, and eringi mushrooms. I cooked it at home using the sauce provided. I paired it with red wine and bread, creating a bento-box-like steak meal. Instead of wasabi, they served yuzu pepper, which I found to be a nice touch. The half-price deal made it even more appealing.

At the food market in the basement of Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store, there used to be a shop that dealt with Yamagata beef, and now a shop called "Hakata Niku no Itchoden" has opened there. I thought it was a Hakata Itchoden shop that had opened, but when I searched for it on Tabelog under Hakata, it didn't come up. It turns out that it is operated by Meijiya Sangyo Co., Ltd., which also operates PAOPAO. They had regular beef bento boxes, but I was intrigued by the beef tongue bento box, so I decided to try it out. The thick-cut beef tongue is finished with a sesame oil and salt sauce. It comes with burdock root, mentaiko, and tamagoyaki. The taste and portion size were moderate, and I felt like trying it again. There were also other bento boxes I would like to try, such as steak bento, gyudon bento, and a combination bento with both steak and gyudon.

Purchased item: Menchi sandwich ¥540 The Menchi is roughly chopped, giving it a meaty texture. It's quite filling, but the flavor is not overpowering, making it delicious. For this price and portion size, I think it's enough for both lunch and dinner. They also sell "meat sushi," which is roast beef slices on top of sushi rice.

When I tried the beef sushi during the limited-time pop-up, I thought it was really delicious. And now it seems they have secured a permanent space in the regular store. They mainly offer nigiri sushi using Hakata beef, as well as items like menchi. They also have a store in Ginza Mitsukoshi, but the menu there might be slightly different. When I bought a 10-piece set of meat sushi again, I found that the meat had a good chewy texture this time. It might be a bit tough for elderly people complaining about their teeth all day. Since it's sushi, it may not be suitable for those who prefer the chewiness of American beef. But the separate sauce provided adds a nice touch. It was surprising to learn that Meiji-ya, the supermarket, is behind this, and that they also run PAOPAO, which offers items like dumplings and meat buns.

I felt like eating meat, so I saw this place while out and decided to buy some. The beef bowl didn't have as much fat as I had imagined, but the steak had more fat than I would have liked. The steak in the bento had a sticky sauce that somewhat interfered with the taste of the meat. The beef bowl reminded me of station bentos and was quite good.

January 2, 2021. Just past 12 o'clock. Although we didn't plan on buying a lucky bag, my husband was captivated by this "lucky bag" when we passed by the store (lol) and ended up purchasing a bento lucky bag for 2,000 yen. It was marked as 3,000 yen→2,000 yen at the storefront, so I guess each bento is around 1,500 yen? It's a very high-end bento, but I thought it's a rare opportunity to try it, so I decided to go for it (≧▽≦) [Tasting] - Wagyu steak and beef rice assorted bento It includes a thick rare steak and thinly sliced beef simmered in a refined seasoning. The simmered beef was delicately seasoned, not overcooked to preserve the deliciousness of the meat, which was great. The Wagyu steak was very tender, but there were some parts with tendons, so it was a bit chewy. The seasoning was also refined. ...It was too refined for my taste, as I prefer stronger flavors ><; When I tried it with wasabi at home, it tasted incredibly delicious♪ The ingredients are of good quality as it's "Wagyu," but personally, I felt that a bit more punch in the seasoning would have been nice (sorry for being presumptuous...). Both meats were delicately seasoned, and I found the flavor a bit monotonous, so I thought that adding spices like pepper or wasabi that don't overpower the original taste would make it enjoyable even for someone like me who prefers strong flavors. I was expecting the meat to be delicious without a doubt, but what surprised me was the side dishes. The seasoned boiled egg, snow peas topped with mentaiko, and squid-like konjac with yuzu flavor were delicious beyond words♡ Both the meat and side dishes were delicious, so I felt that getting this bento for around 1,000 yen was a great deal! - Unnamed bento Similar to the Wagyu steak earlier, this bento had tender meat with a refined seasoning. It seemed like a different cut of meat? It was easy to eat without any tendons. It may be difficult to purchase frequently, but enjoying a high-end bento once a year is quite fun, isn't it? ♪
