Tonight, I went to a live performance by a piano and S.Sax/T.Sax duo. On my way back, I wandered around Otsuka looking for a place to eat, but most places were already closed. I decided to try the chicken set meal again, this time with mapo tofu. My thoughts are pretty much the same as yesterday... a bit too salty for my taste.

After work, I had the new soup curry from Matsuya in front of Otsuka Station. Matsuya's curry is always delicious. In addition to the regular curry, the chunky butter chicken curry and the Massaman curry from the other day were also tasty. This time, the soup curry had potatoes, daikon radish, green beans, carrots, boiled eggs, and chicken pieces in it. The curry itself had a strong spice flavor and was spicier than the previous lineup. I think the taste is just as good as a specialty restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant to confirm that the Premium Gyumeshi changed to just Gyumeshi on 9/28, and that the taste of the Gyumeshi sauce and miso soup had changed. I ordered the Gyumeshi Mini for 330 yen from the vending machine. The Gyumeshi sauce seemed even sweeter. The miso soup has changed quite a bit, with a stronger umami flavor.

I found a Matsuya near Otsuka Station. Matsuya is everywhere, it's amazing. They offer breakfast menu until 11 am. I ordered the small side dish set for 290 yen including tax, or 260 yen for a small rice portion. I ordered the beef bowl. The service was average, maybe because they were short-staffed. The meat was well seasoned but a bit dry. There wasn't much onion, the meat dominated. It goes well with raw egg.

Garlic and cheese are my favorite combination! The big sweet potato chunks were so good. The sweet and salty taste was perfect. I used the extra cheese coupon that came with the cup ramen I bought. Added more cheese on top!

I went to "Matsuya" for lunch. I really like Matsuya because they serve miso soup with their meals. I ordered the reliable beef bowl special with extra toppings, which is delicious and comes in a large portion. Lately, I've been getting tired of the taste halfway through, so it has become a habit for me to add a lot of shichimi pepper to make it spicy. However, Yoshinoya offers regular discount coupons and a point card, so I'm not sure which one is better.

On this day, I was feeling a little tipsy in Otsuka. I was thinking of heading straight home, but then I thought maybe I should eat something before heading home. I was in the mood for rice. As I was walking, I passed by this place multiple times, but I realized I had never been there before. So, I decided to go in and check it out. The location is just outside the north exit of JR Otsuka Station, across from Starbucks. I walked along Starbucks and turned left onto Gin no Suzu Street, a lively dining street between Chiyoda Sushi and Isomaru Suisan. The restaurant I entered was the second one on the corner, across from Isomaru Suisan. I ordered the Negi-Tama Premium Spicy Beef Bowl with Lots of Green Onions. I entered the restaurant and went to the ticket machine. It had been a while since I had seen Matsuya's menu. Nowadays, it's common for major beef bowl chain restaurants to have set meal menus in addition to beef bowl options, so the number of menu items has increased. I was a bit indecisive, so when I saw the Negi-Tama Beef Bowl on the menu, I decided to order it. The Negi-Tama Beef Bowl was visually appealing with plenty of green onions and a large soft-boiled egg. The volume of green onions slightly overshadowed the beef, but it was still good. When mixed with the soft-boiled egg, the sweetness added a nice touch. As I enjoyed my bowl in my tipsy state, the restaurant started to fill up with new customers. It seemed that many Asian customers were also frequenting the place. It was heartwarming to see people meeting here and leaving together with takeout. Tonight, the tipsy old man will head straight home alone (laughs).

The other day, I had some errands to run in Otsuka and there weren't many open restaurants, so I was a bit worried about where to go. I ended up stopping by Matsuya, which is open 24 hours. The restaurant was crowded and I just managed to find a seat. I ordered the hamburger set meal, which arrived in about 10 minutes. The hamburger was covered in plenty of sauce and was fluffy, pairing perfectly with the rice. I will definitely visit again!

Matsuya is a place I have been using a lot lately because they have a lot of electronic money options available. However, I still haven't gotten used to using it, and I often find myself struggling in front of the vending machine, which can be quite annoying. Moreover, this Otsuka branch is particularly cramped, making it even more bothersome when trying to decide what to order. It might be a good idea to decide what you want to eat beforehand. I ordered the Tomato Fondue Sauce Cheese Beef Hamburger Steak set with extra rice, and changed the miso soup to tonjiru. The hamburger had a satisfying texture and was delicious. The sauce had a nice tangy flavor, which I enjoyed. The portion size was too much for me, and I ended up feeling very full.

With the low-carb change, the rice is replaced with colorful vegetables. The salad becomes two servings, haha.

I got the premium beef bowl for takeout, although I'm not sure what makes it premium. The beef bowl was delicious. The miso soup was also really good. Miso soup always tastes great, right? It's hard to make bad miso soup. Thank you for the meal.
